I don't remember the exact year/version, but I knew this dude was doomed when he was always, consistently, selected last in the expansion draft when I used to play one of the "NBA 2K" games....

I'm not sure why this news would increase the likelihood of an upcoming trade. He's not playing, we're going to get him some minutes in Reno. If I were to speculate that it meant anything, it might mean that Landry will be back sooner than expected. But it probably means nothing.

Maybe Landry is close.

Then it has to be very, very close. Something is urgent unless they are just doing him a favor and letting him play somewhere. He is like a vestigial part on this team (always wanted to use that word in a sentence :) ). I presume most athletes like to play. I sure did and I hardly consider myself much of an athlete and I'm sure my kids would back me up on that comment. Sigh!

Ndiaye has no future here on this team.
Gray has shown to be superior in about every single way.
If we're going to stick with a cheap center who can come in off the bench Gray will be that guy.

Hopefully Ndiaye can work on his game and find himself on another team that needs a player who can be an emergency center if the injury bug hits.

OK, I'm confused with this line of thinking. What does Ndiaye getting sent down to the D-league have to do with anything other than he's being sent down?

He's still on the Kings roster until they release him and he counts against the 15 man team limit until then.

Honestly I was watching Moneyball on the Dish network today around the time I saw the tweet. And so I had the notion fresh in my head that you have to "send a guy down" to make room for a new acquisition. But yeah they don't correlate. Was just the first thing that came to my mind :)

lol I'm embarrassed I posted this thread in the first place. #TWITTER FAIL :)

In the pre-twitter days, I bet nobody would ever know or care that he went down and came back up. freakin information age…. too much.

I think because of his contract length, he in essence has a no-trade clause.

I don't understand the reasoning here. N'Diaye is probably the best "salary filler" that we have. If we have agreed on a deal talentwise, but due to the CBA we have to send a small amount more money the other way, N'Diaye is the first on the list.

No reasoning. I think because he has a one year contract he has to agree to any trade. But I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first.

Lol it's funny how everytime something happens, everyone on here thinks some trade is about to happen.

He was waived because after Jan 7th, players contracts become guaranteed for the remainder of the year.

You could be right. ShamSports indicates that his contract had no guarantee date and that it was fully unguaranteed. ShamSports other than not updating his sight in regards to trades has a pretty good track record in terms of contract details. However in the CBA it might state on that date they become guaranteed, I just don't see the team doing that just to save a dime or two (it goes against the image that they seem to be making; not afraid to spend).

Edit: it appears you are correct in terms of the guarantee according to James Ham.

Kings waived Hamady N'Diaye. Roster now at 13 players. As @James_Ham point out, Hamady's contract would become guaranteed tomorrow.
