NCAA March Madness (merged)

I know the fields haven't even been set yet, but I thought I'd start this up now to try to get lots of brackets in there.

Click here to join the KingsFans league on Yahoo.

You can also join by creating your bracket and joining our group:

Group ID: 34676
Password: pingpong

* IMPORTANT NOTE *

I set up the league with a different scoring system than normal. I tried tweaking one of Yahoo's options to use a slightly different system than the normal 1,2,4,8,16,32 point levels. If there is outrage and backlash I will of course be happy to change it. If you care about these kinds of things please take a look at the new scoring system when you sign up. You will still be scored the normal way for the overall scoring in case you're curious how you would have done.

After the brackets are created this weekend you can fill in your picks. I set it to allow two brackets per person, so you can try twice if you want. I will be filling out one "safe" bracket with few upsets and one "crazy" bracket with lots of upsets.

Should be fun!

When I click the link it is on step 2....ready for me to select my bracket. Does this mean I am already signed in? I'm, obviously, a bit confused. I'm thinking it means I'm just waiting for the team selections now.

BTW - Mods, can we have this stickied for the duration of the tounament?

This should be fun. I'll probably be awful. :p

Cool... glad to see some interest. We've still got a week before we find out who's in the brackets and another three days to make picks, so keep on signing up everybody. I'm sure there will be a reminder when the brackets come out and before the picks are due (both from Yahoo and in this thread).

6th, I see your team on the list so if you're weren't sure, you're in.

Sunday evening (March 15) everybody will be able to start filling in their brackets.

Update of the teams so far in the Tourney:

Chattanooga
Cleveland State
Cornell
East Tennessee State
Gonzaga
Morehead State
North Dakota State
Northern Iowa
Portland State
Radford
Robert Morris
Siena
Virginia Commonwealth
Western Kentucky

Are we supposed to be picking per round or do we pick all the way through to the end?

Pick all the way through the end.

In other words, this doesn't take a lot of work folks, keep signing up! :)

They even have a thing that will auto-pick for you. You can pick all the top seeds and just guess the final four, or you can even have it pick randomly for you.

Cool! Thanks.

I am in. However, I am confused. When I clicked on midwest, it is blank. How do I start selecting the teams?
Is it completely blank, or are there teams on the far left? My bracket had teams on the far left and when I click on them it fills that team in as the winner in that game. You have to click each winner for the entire bracket and then click "Save & Continue".

If you don't see the teams on the left, or clicking them does nothing, then maybe there's a problem with javascript or flash or whatever Yahoo is using.

Ok, I just checked and everything is good.

I did my picks last night. I had no idea what I was doing, so I should be just fine. :p

Yeah mine was click the winner and move on.

... BTW, can't wait to see everyone's brackets!!

I am notoriously bad at anything fantasy related, but i too have joined the fun. just remember i said this, watch out for TEXAS! now that i say this they will probably lose but whatever.

Knowing absolutely nothing about college teams, I decided to join anyways. Go Mizzou! ;) Gotta represent my wife's family's home state!

The Missouri Tigers are an VERY dangerous team heading into this tournament. They finished up strong at 28-6 overall, topping it off with by winning the Big 12 Championship tourney easily - maybe not a huge surprise, but ease with which they did it was. Along the way they thrashed at the time ranked #1 in nation Oklahoma. Mizzou is an extremely athletic team that attacks offensively and defensively all 40 minutes of a game and NO ONE is looking forward to drawing them in this NCAA championship tournament. Getting to the Elite Eight would not be a surprise at all and a Final Four birth is definitely within their tiger clawing means.

Oh, I was only giving Warhawk a hard time because I'm originally from Illinois and my family is still there. It was more about IL/MO than whether Mizzou was any good. But, thanks for the info. :p
