They didn't need him, as good as Horford was game 1, that's how bad he looked today.....he should stick to jump shooting.....he puts the ball on the deck and its bad things happen.....
 
In all actuality, the Kings could probably use a guy who shot 50% from three in college
 
technically a league minimum contract is life changing for most humanoids, Kings don't really have any money to spend, hopefully next year some other team can be the butt of lazy takes.
 
I could not see the game due to technical problems with channel 8.
Refs better clean it up. clips of Green and Poole were not good. Dirty play is for losers.

Split in SF is still a victory for the Celtics.

Having Gary Payton II back made all the difference for the Warriors. Sure they got incredibly hot in the third quarter but the Warriors were able to pad their lead because the Mitten was making gritty defensive role player moves all night.

I’m personally feeling really confident in my Warriors in 6 prediction. Think the Celtics get another W at home but the Warriors won this game by a bushel of points despite Klay actively hurting them and Draymond getting in his own head for most of the game.

You're probably right. Celtics most likely get one at home. I do think, however, that they need to come back to San Francisco up 3-1 if they want to win the championship. I think a tied series going into game 5 will favor (slightly) the Warriors.

This finals is doing absolutely nothing to dissuade my love of Keegan as a future impact winning player. It just seems impossible to build a good defense without that versatility and if you can throw in some sort of on-ball skill (Scoring right now in Keegan's case), it makes your offense that much more dynamic.

I know fans want the 4th pick to be a multi All-star but would it be so bad if he had a Mikal Bridges type of career and impact?

Would Mikal Bridges be relevant if the Suns didn't trade for Cp3, I personally don't think so and most would have looked at him as a solid player but in some ways a wasted pick. But as a Kings fan I would take a Bridges career over the busts and gross overestimating of certain players.

Tone setter. You could tell Draymond was trying to make it a dirty, physical game. Hate him if he's on the other team. Love him when playing with him. Davion is a physical tone setter. The more he plays, the more the Kings will win.
 
Celtics are a rough, tough, borderline dirty team. The Bucks and Heat series were cage matches, because that's the way Boston likes it. Dubs have to fight fire with fire or they'll lose.
 
The Warriors are a pansy team, so they try to compensate with Green's antics. If refs are going to let him fall on a guy shooting a 3 and then tussle on the ground and push the shooter, then the games are going to eventually get out of control.. Who are the enforcers on the Celtics? Nearly all of them.

All of the hooking and tangling of arms and legs is just old school street ball. The refs need to control the games better. In my opinion Green should have been tossed because he already had one T.

Borderline dirty team is a loaded phrase. The NBA finals are played at a different intensity level with different officiating than the regular season. Anyone that has been a gym rat knows where the lines are that are not to be crossed. If the Warriors think they are going to out physical the Celtics they are making a big mistake. If Green keeps getting away with his BS, he is going to catch one from somebody, as in an elbow or hip.

Edit: I have no dog in the fight. Calling Boston borderline dirty is actually a compliment. They're right up to that line.

Boston and Golden State were the top-2 ranked teams in defensive rating across the NBA this season. They both play a physical get-under-the-opponent's-skin brand of defense. That you seem intent on drawing a distinction between the "tough" Celtics and the "pansy" Warriors says a lot more about you as a fan than it says about either team, as if the Warriors haven't had one of the toughest defenses in the NBA during the majority of their contending seasons, this one included.

And for the record, I'm pulling for Boston in this series. I just think it's the worst kind of "play the right way" garbage to laud one team for its gritty play on the defensive end and then turn around and castigate their opponent for playing the exact same way. I'm a huge fan of Marcus Smart, but let's not pretend that he isn't likewise a purveyor of the same kind of "antics" that Draymond Green employs to gain a competitive edge. You see what you want to see, I suppose.

Yeah the finals (and conference finals for that matter) are just littered with the Mikal Bridges types. Tatum/Brown/Williams/Bob Williams/Horford on the Celts side and super big guard/versatile Smart at the PoA. Dray/Looney/Wiggins/Porter/Klay on the Warriors side with Steph drastically becoming a better defender the last few years. Not a coincidence these 2 teams are #1 and #2 in defense on the season; there's no spot in their lineups you can switch and expose.

This is where the build around Fox/Sabonis gets tricky. You have to be very conscious about your team build around them and finding guys who can pick them up on defense. I think both guys have the ability to succeed in a good team defense, but that requires at least 3 above-average defenders around them to pick it up. Davion/DDV is a good start, but the Kings have to address the lack of flexibility with their wing defenders.

That's why my "realistic" build is my favorite avenue. If you add Keegan Murray in the draft, sign Otto Porter and trade Holmes for Maxi Kleber, you're adding 3 good defenders at a position we have none at and coincidentally is probably the most important to be able to defend in the NBA right now. And the beauty is Kleber/Porter as vet additions aren't carving into Fox/Sabonis/Mitchell/Barnes/Davis on the offensive end; they're essentially support spacers which is probably the other big weakness on the roster.
