NBA Playoffs, Conference Finals

I'm not a great lip reader but looked like as Paul George coming out during last couple minutes #13 getting long line of hand slaps from teammates and then when got to DeMarcus Cousins said, "sorry couldn't get ya there." Boogie just said, "no problem." It would have been great to see the big guy in NBA championship final but not to be this year.

it took 16 seasons to get there but CP3 finally makes his first NBA Finals. It's surprising that all those prime years in LA he couldn't get it done and it just goes to show you how many things have to go your way for a team to get there and the Suns were in a prime position for it. Like the Heat last year, except whoever is coming out of the East is going to be toast against Phoenix.

I want to be happy for the Suns as the fan of a fellow long-beleaguered franchise but CP3 and Booker are just so damn unlikeable.
Amen.

I’ll give thanks to PHX for taking out LAL but I was done with them after that.

I’ve given CP3 props for turning PHX into a contender, as he’s done for every other team he’s played for, but he’s still fake and a jackass.

I’ll be rooting hard for whomever comes out of the East. Hopefully MIL.

Honestly, I don’t think I can tolerate PHX or ATL being champs. Neither are that damned good.

Seriously, the gauntlet our KINGS had to go through in 2002 then didn’t get to win a title. They were twice the team of either ATL/PHX.

Meh. That's how a good portion of the NBA fanbase feels about Cousins but clearly fans here have no issue rooting for him.

I mean, is there really ever a 100% "likeable" superstar? Fans here used to complain about Duncan all the time. Kawhi was only somewhat universally likeable when he was still on the Spurs. Lebron, AD, KD, Kyrie, Harden, PG all unlikeable for various reasons. Curry is quite beloved now but don't forget when the Warriors were making their runs lots of people would have loved to slap his mouthguard off his face.

List of maybe 90% likeable superstars now and in past decade:
- Jokic
- Wade
- Lillard

Any others?

I don’t condone cheap shots and the such, but I enjoyed Pat Beverly laying out CP.
Yeah, he’s had that coming for a long time. He got off easy, actually.

CP3 reminds me of Don Johnson’s character in the movie “Tin Cup” who also reminds me of Phil Mickelson. Basically a guy that knows how to look good to the media and in front of cameras but at heart and behind the scenes is really a giant jackhole douche. I’ll bet CP3 hates old people and dogs too.

Meanwhile Boogie Cousins doesn’t know how to look good to the media or in front of cameras, and doesn’t seems to care, but is actually a good loyal dude behind the scenes.

If cp3 turns down his option like it’s rumored he will, bottom dwellers better be ready to back up the brinks truck for him. If he can take the suns to the finals…

I don't see many people disliking Giannis

So true. I recall many years ago seeing Boogie inside Walmart Supercenter West Sac during Xmas season handing out gifts to kids with red Santa cap on. I smiled and asked him, "Big Cuz, where's your posse? (apparently arrived alone). He just kept grinning in the holiday spirit. "What's that? My loyal fans are my posse."

I've don't remember anyone having a problem with Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods was the player I always heard that was more aloof.

I believe Mickelson is disingenuous and extremely fake. Behind the scenes he’s not the guy he purports to be in front of the cameras. I’ve seen and heard many examples of it over the years.

Tiger is no saint, for sure. But I only saw the aloofness once he became the Michael Jackson of the sports world. Tiger has never struck me as someone that wants to be adored so badly that he puts on an act. He just is what he is. Which is far from infallible and certainly no role model.

He may be disingenuous, I don't know. I have heard that he is well liked on the tour. Tiger has always been a bit of a loner, which worked when he was on top (not so much when he fell into the pack).

I'm not the world's biggest golf person, but I worked the 2001 Masters Tournament when it was peak Tiger and Phil and the sentimental favorite in the clubhouse was David Duvall.

I'm still slightly irritated that I took that day to be ethical and didn't swipe Tiger's signed meal ticket on the final day (his second Masters victory and part of the Tiger slam iirc). Nobody would have missed it and it would have been one hell of a souvenir.
