[NBA] NBA Playoffs first round

Blazers go from revamping their entire starting unit sans Lillard and make it to the second round...laugh out loud. Talk about rebuilding on the fly, I know...the West is weaker than it has been for quite some time, but you got to give them credit where its due. They went from being thought as a lottery team, then potentially only the 8th seed and managed to make it to the 5th seed. They can definitely thank Memphis, Dallas and Houston for that, Utah included.
It's a little hard to figure out what if anything they have long term, but they were super fun to watch this year. I had completely written them off for dead (and penciled Sac in their playoff spot). But yeah, outside of the top 3 West has been not so hot.

Congrats to the Hawks, for their first playoff series win versus Boston in fifty-eight years. Sayeth Bob Rathbun, the leprechaun is dead!

You know, the last time the Hawks beat the Celtics in the playoffs, they won the championship. I guess that means that this is the Hawaaaahahahahahahahahaha!

Sorry, I can't get it out...

I guess smart teams know how to shut down a 5'8 guard
I've said this before, but I find it fascinating what height people choose to put next to a player's name depending on how they 'feel' about that said player.

Isaiah Thomas was measured at 5'8.75" without shoes and 5'10.25" with shoes at the NBA combine. His playing height is 5'10.25". Playing height is often the height that is listed around the league yet somehow someway I find him being labeled at 5'8" in the message above. Again, I find it fascinating...

Okay, sorry....smart teams learn how to stop a player under 6 feet. better said? I have nothing against IT, he is a baller and he has that passion you either have or you don't, it's good to see that he found a home in Bean Town.

Charlotte's upswing can be traced back to their hire of Steve Clifford.

Many didn't see it as a good hire when Jordon brought him in but hes done a solid job and emphasized both sides of the ball

Agreed. Steve Clifford is a another under the radar type of coaching hire. What coaching tree did he come from? I've never heard of him before the hire, anywhere. Not the pros or the college ranks.

Clifford became an NBA assistant coach with the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets under Jeff Van Gundy and quickly developed a reputation as a defensive expert. He then was an assistant for Stan Van Gundy with the Orlando Magic.[2] He considers both the Van Gundy brothers as mentors.[6] He reached the NBA Playoffs in each of his five seasons with Orlando, appearing in the NBA Finals in 2009.

NO GOOD CLIPPERS!

I don't know if it's lightning in a bottle but I didn't realize that Aminu and Harkless can shoot the three ball that effectively....o_O

They don't exactly strike me as three point threats, more so good defenders, lengthy athletic forwards.

The whole team is just embarrassing. I don't understand how Doc and half those guys aren't T'd out of every game.
I really, really don't like the Clippers but I will give River's son credit (in this game). That eye looked bad (not sure how he was playing however with the blood rules 'cause that lower eye looked liked it was bleeding at times).

I wonder if the Clippers would consider blowing it up given their poor history in the playoffs... if that happens, I would love to get JJ. He just moves so well without the ball and is a great shooter. We need a real threat from outside. Marco was complete trash and Ben was his usual self (no need to dive into that argument, essentially the same player he always has been). I wonder what happens with Blake too... two rather serious injuries (same one twice) on a player that heavily relies on his athleticism... I don't know anything can happen.

On another note, watching big men who can't shoot free throws be intentionally fouled sure makes me glad Cousins can shoot a decent % at the stripe. Come playoff time, these bigs are a huge disadvantage for their team. 37%?? Gotta be kidding me.

For sure props to him for playing, his team needed him and he didn't let them down.
