NBA meets with Kings' Maloofs, Anaheim

We all know that is going to be said in the meeting. The Magoofs will be pressured into waiting another year for an Arena deal to materialize but the Magoofs will claim the Sacramento corporate support is fake and it's imperative to move this season if the team is to stay solvent.

Oooh! A conference call!

Hey, Youngman is right, the Kings CAN still file for relocation. That might be fun. 'Cause I don't have to lick my finger to figure out which way this wind is blowing.

Next up: get the arena done!

I guess Stern is part of that conference call. He was on with Dan Patrick this morning talking about the situation and mentions am upcoming call with the Committee

Stern said the conference call was at 11:30... should be done by this afternoon, right?
I also found it interesting that Stern said LA could handle another team, but only based on his personal bias that any NBA team could have another team stacked on top of it and be successful...

Was probably 11:30 eastern. So I would think the call would be done by now.

I think he picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

This is bad. Now that Airplane quotes have been incorporated into this, I am really not going to get much done today at work. Out of all the classic quotes, this one was always my favorite.

Joey: I think you're the greatest, but my dad says you don't work hard enough on defense.
[Kareem's getting mad]
Joey: And he says that lots of times, you don't even run down court. And that you don't really try... except during the playoffs.
Roger Murdock: [breaking character] The hell I don't! LISTEN KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes.

I just wanted to tell the both of you, we're all counting on you.

NBA Meets with the Maloofs? What can you make of this?

Oh, I don't know, a hat, a brooch, a pterodactyl!

Rumack: You'd better tell the Captain we've got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital.
Elaine Dickinson: A hospital? What is it?
Rumack: It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

Maybe my most favorite comedy of all time. You guys are killin' me. :D

On the other hand, just heard some comments on the news from Stern. Boy he sure didn't sound very positive at all about Sacramento. Geez. I didn't catch all of it, though.

He has to sound as neutral as possible so as not to appear biased, and allow due course. I thought he was marvelously neutral.

If you're referring to the Dan Patrick interview that is.

Maybe that was it. I wasn't watching, my son was nearby and I only caught the end of it. I do know he is pretty slick at not sounding like he has an opinion one way or the other on things like this. He does work for the owners after all and can't appear to be favoring anybody publicly.

Edit: Okay, I did mishear it. He was answering as to whether LA/Anaheim could support three teams and he used terms like "maybe." I thought he was referring to Sacramento. Bad mistake on my part. Yikes!
