pickings could be pretty slim at 42. Most of the guys who will likely be available are going to be defender guard types and at this point we are loaded up there. Might have to look at a different skill set. Nembhard is so small but dude is a fantastic playmaker and very good shooter. In a weak second round, a third string change of pace point guard might not be the worst option. Still hoping Toohey falls though
Maxime Raynaud, another french man. good size and impressive college numbers. Guess a solid pick at 42

Too much trouble to travel to Utah….
Look trading up to draft a guard you like in the 20’s in isolation is a good move. But we again have a surplus of players at a guard spot. Maybe Kings trade Deebo and Zach. A Carter, Clifford, Keon back-court would be fun to watch. But as I have consistently said trading guards is hard. Watching us give away Davion and others should reinforce that point.
We will see what happens.
He's a wing, he's not a guard. Pretty clear 2/3 flex guy Ill listen to what sam vecenie has to say about his positional versatility and pretty much every other draft prognosticator

You do realize that GMs can be right some of the time and wrong some of the time, yes? The same guy who drafted Jason Williams and Peja Stojakovic and Hedo Turkoglu and Gerald Wallace and Kevin Martin and DeMarcus Cousins and Isaiah Thomas and traded for the likes of Vlade Divac and Chris Webber and Mike Bibby and Brad Miller and Ron Artest also drafted Quincy Douby and Jimmer Fredette and Thomas Robinson and Ben McLemore and traded for the likes of Kenny Thomas and John Salmons. Some great, some good, some bad, some awful. Like most worthwhile GMs in the league, there will still be misses. It's hardly unthinkable that Geoff Petrie, who was one of the league's early birds to aggressive European scouting, would have recommended picking Giannis to the incoming front office.
At least one correction here - McLemore was the guy the new front office picked when they did not listen to Petrie's outgoing advice about Giannis.
In general Petrie was a very good drafter and had a history (e.g. Peja, Brian Grant) of bucking draft boards to select the guy he thought was the best player available. Giannis was far from a complete unknown and was being talked about as a middle first round pick with potential to rise among the draft analysts. It's not only plausible but quite believable that Petrie recommended looking into Giannis to the incoming front office on his way out the door.
I'd say there was also some evidence his later picks were forced upon him (Petrie). Jimmer was a cynical marketing pitch. We don't really know what happened with TRob. Petrie acknowledges they never worked him out or really considered him as he was projected to go top two IIRC. Douby was his biggest miss that you can't pin on possible outside influences, but that was a 19th pick.
Exactly, years ago on another board several of us posters were discussing Giannis as a desired pick.
Back to this draft. Happy we didn’t have to bail on Carter for the 24th but we still haveDeMar and no first rounder for him at least not this year. Now thinking of constructive ways to move on from him.

I'd consider it a pipe dream to see Raynaud fall to us at 42, but I honestly think he goes early tonight. I'd be shocked to see him fall into the 40s.

Not gonna lie...I'm a Stanford fan. I'm biased when it comes to Maxime.
Cool, I’m biased towards Australian players as I am a duo US Australian citizen.
Got my Bachelor degree from University of New Mexico so sort of get excited about their players as well.

Carter cannot guard the three. They all just shoot over the top of him If he could he would have gotten more minutes.
Clifford maybe can in spurts but he is undersized.
Every draft expert says he can guard multiple positions on the wing. Any thoughts there?

Scott Perry seems to suggest that there are some trades coming. No surprise, but I like his subtlety and class. It's easy to mistake a leader's good nature for a lack of resolve, but I believe we are seeing an impressive skillset and a vision most of us can get on board with.

I am probably much higher on Scott than most on this board, but I always tend to look at things with an open mind, heart, and a positive outlook. At least until I am proven wrong. But, based on his introductory press conference, I have nothing but positive vibes about the guy, and am willing to give him a chance in Sacramento before asking for his head.

Curious where you heard that. When the issue was brought up he sounded like Monte. Now granted he isn’t going to say we are trading player X tomorrow so we will see what happens.
Yeah. I obviously was th biggest Monte Bull on the forum, but all I care is the Kings are good. So far, Perry is off to a great start picking up Clifford.

No direct connection. Became a huge Stanford Women's Basketball and Volleyball fan in my younger years as a lot of their games were shown out in the Sacramento area (Roseville was where I called home for many years. I actually still consider it to be my true home today, although I moved from there back in 2016).
I am a casual. They were my #2 in the PAC. Dad went to UofA (among others, lol, but graduated a wildcat), mom attended Stanford but left to marry my dad although she's very involved in the alumni group.
Hopefully when OKC is shedding salary they can't keep that friendship will be more meaningful.

A certain someone will probably blow a gasket if we pick him with the 42 tonight since he doesn’t have a 10 foot wingspan but I would be more than fine if we walked out of the draft with Nique and Proctor (plus it would definitely mean at least one of DDR/Lavine/Malik is gone gone gone)
