Kings would probably be fine with trading Damian Jones and Delon Wright.
I'll drop Lillard off at the airport and pickup both, hook them up with some nice realtors. If they don't mind living across the river where WA has no income tax I even know of this really sweet pad with a pool and a private basketball court and a really fancy sunken living room only 2.5 million.

Loudbig von Beefoven is the most Portland thing I've ever seen since I got my daily coffee.

Obviously there are other factors with what's going on with Lillard but the fact that the fans are turning on him (the alt-weeklies did it two weeks ago too) has to be a major shock at a city that like Sacramento if frequently known for loving the hell out of its guys (and gals - sidenote, why we don't have a WNBA team here is effing crazy, they'd probably need to build a new arena because there'd be a waitlist for tickets).

I once resigned with dignity while not quietly letting all my colleagues know I was being pushed out, so I'll try not to LOL too hard here. I don't like this for the Jazz though.

The people that hate this Blazers hire will never forgive it so nothing Olshey says is going to end it. I still can't believe they gave Billups 5 years though. Because if next year doesn't go well Olshey will be gone.

I'm excited for Stoudamire (thankfully not the UA coach) to move up the ranks. He's good at UoP but nowhere to go there.

At least Vlade didn't draft Zach Collins and whiffed two more times on that pick? errr.

This is peak Portland, meanwhile we hit 116 yesterday and the heat had erased my entire memory that this hire took place over the weekend.

I moved here in 2005 and am feeling as happy to be a Kings fan as I have for all but the two-three weeks before the 2018 NBA draft since 2006.

Hmmm. Walton's situation didn't draw this much attention and it happened present day, not 20+ years ago.

It's almost like there are a different set of standards.

Maybe Portland has different priorities of what agendas they want to push vs Sacramento. (If that makes sense). Like I feel like Portland will push this “can’t hire a accused rapist over the first female head coach” while Sacramento is busy fighting vaccines and masks. I’ve mentioned before (Kobe and as you mentioned Walton) that there have been cases like this but the accused havent been affected decades later like this. Maybe it’s the cities involved or maybe it’s how society is now vs back then.

Did the Walton accusations come out before the hire? I thought it was like right after, but I may not be remembering correctly.

It was literally the week between the announced hiring and Luke’s welcome press conference and most of the Kings Herald guys were out for blood.

That said, the situation in Portland has largely been co-opted by a larger narrative whereas the Walton situation largely boiled down to “I don’t want this guy to be our coach” and he miiiight be a rapist.

Hammon's name didn't come into the mix until after Billups and Kidd were expressed as Dame's top two candidates.

If someone thought that would be damage control it was literally fuel on the fire, the minute her name came up that segment of the fanbase was Hammon or bust (they'd have probably also welcomed Staley if someone beat us to Hammon)

Again, I'll just say Portland needs a WNBA team yesterday. Our women's soccer team draws >20k on the regular in a league with ~7k average attendance.

Given the guy has been a model citizen for the last 2.5 decades (unless I missed something else), he even married his girlfriend from the same time period and they have 3 daughters and are still together I find it hard to believe he's not atoned for whatever his involvement was in this case - all we know he was present with a few other Celtics players and possibly Antoine Walker's roommate was the offender. Would be nice to know more about the "private investigation" but I am guessing it included access to sealed records.

That is my conspiracy theory, that segment of the fanbase that you mentioned. It's not about damage control, it feels like people digging up the past to smear names so the front office will change their minds. Like it's political ad season again. Just find it convenient that when hammon's name comes up, the "loyal fans" start to trash Dame for voicing his opinion, then attack him for not knowing info that was dug up from decades ago. Again i'm not against them hiring hammon, but there are better reasons for hiring her than the other candidate being accused of a rape but never convicted. If all the tweets were, "Dame, why would you choose someone with barely any experience over someone with years of tutelage under one of the greatest coaches in the nba?" then it doesnt look like a non nba agenda being pushed.

Anyways that's the last I'm probably gonna talk about it. Im just coming up with reasons to be pissed at all the people turning on Dame. I think the real reason i'm so pissed is like the week after i finally buy a Lillard jersey, all this stuff is blowing up and lillard trade scenarios are popping up all over the place. So now I gotta go look for a receipt i probably tossed.
