The Kings scouting and training staffs headed out to Chicago Tuesday for the NBA Draft Combine.

For those of you interested in watching aspects of the Combine, you can tune into ESPNU for coverage on Thursday starting at 11 a.m. PST and again on Friday at 7 a.m. PST.

I'm setting my DVR... I'm really interested in being able to get more information on a bunch of the names a lot of you have been bandying about.

:)

Each team is allowed to interview up to 18 players. The Kings are scheduled to interview the following players over the course of the three days (in alphabetical order): Omri Casspi, Earl Clark, Darren Collison, DeMar DeRozan, Tyreke Evans, Jonny Flynn, Blake Griffin, James Harden, Jordan Hill, Damion James, Gani Lawal, Ty Lawson, Eric Maynor, Jerel McNeal, Jeff Teague, Hasheem Thabeet, Greivis Vasquez, and Terrence Williams.

Interesting. I wonder why certain names are missing from the list. Hopefully it means they are planning to or have already seen some of them in other settings.

Some of the key missing guys (to me) are:

Stephen Curry
Jrue Holiday
Gerald Henderson
James Johnson
BJ Mullins
Chase Budinger
Patty Mills

I'd potentially be more interested in those guys than Casspi, Collison, James, McNeal or Vasquez.

We've already worked out Holiday, so no need to burn an interview with him -- you can only interview 18 at the camp by NBA rules. Another missing name, DeJuan Blair, is also coming out to Sacramento according to DraftExpress' spotty database (doesn't even have the Holiday workout). I'd guess that we'll have a chance to interview a lot of these guys in person in Sacramento or at group workouts, that's probably why we won't do it at Chicago.

I'm actually glad we'll be looking at Casspi and Collison, but I agree that McNeal and Vasquez seem arbitrary.

I'm pretty sure I'd have swapped out James, McNeal and Vasquez for Curry, Daye, and Johnson. I hope we do get to see those three guys in person at some point.

Greivis Vasquez

It's a daring pick - might as well take a flier on the sith:

Of course, I didn't know his last name was Vasquez. All the more reason to like him.

I also figure that some of the missing names are due to a personal workout in the future. At least, it would make sense to do so with the potential for some wheeling and dealing during draft night.

I'm not too sure. I know Dish Network offers it for free with their service. Comcast, I believe offers it with their sports package (which includes NBAtv, NHL Network, MLB Network, ESPNU, etc.) --> I believe.

As interesting as the list of guys included and not included may be, they probably also know who is already planning on coming in for workouts (such as Holiday) or who they'll see at the bigger multi-team workouts. Don't think we can probably read too much into it.

Pattie Mills, Jrue and Brandon Jennings will most likely be in the Oakland camp.

That's what I was thinking. If you can only interview 18, why blow an interview on someone you plan on checking out outside of the combine?

Given the spacing of the our picks, the possibilities to move up, or down etc., I seriously think that we may have to interview take a look at nearly every single prospect in the draft if we are going to do our homework here.

I don't know anything about this guy, but I say we take him at #4. What an awesome name!

FYI: General Grievous was technically not a Sith.
