Moves

I too think the Kings are pretty well "pat" for now. Barnes is the one bubble guy. But there is really no one left out there. We have to hope Jamal turns into a quality big guy and not end up like Jerome James did with us his first two years. He becomes the mystery man as to contribution, defense and all around play 'cause if he works out we're fat.

Therefore "The State of the Kings: one fans view" really does sum things up.

I took three years of high school Espanol, but I'm really, really rusty. Apparently, though, Luis (Who the f---?) Flores says the Kings are interested in him.
ORES TIENE OFERTAS PARA SEGUIR EN NBA

Terra Deportes/AP

Why? Is it because he is one of the few players on the Kings with a post game? because he has size for his position? because he has playoff experience? Because he is a solid veteran player?

No because, he takes every shot he can, this team revolves around passing which he is not good at, and we don't need scoring we have enough on the frontline, we need defence, rebounding and hustle players, thats why.

Kenny Thomas for Mark Blount

everyone seems to be harping on the lack of size of our backups... a trade that can help solve that would be Kenny Thomas to Boston for Mark Blount... KT can help fill the void left by Antoine Walker and give insurance to the Celts's if they trade SF Paul Pierce... Blount would give the kings a defensive big man that can block some shots and rebound and score off the bench... mostly, he gives the kings added size and allows Skinner to move over to backup PF...

they both have ugly 5 years contracts, but KT's is slightly worse/higher... this move actually would help the kings get under the luxury tax this year...

PF SAR/ Skinner
SF Peja/ Williamson
C Miller/ Blount/ Sampson
SG Wells/ Martin/ Garcia
PG Bibby/ Hart/ Price

If I wasn't deeply suspicious that Blount is just a stiff who put in one good year to get a contract I would feel better about that move. As it is, we'd be getting back a contract as bad as the one we gave away, and for probably a less talented guy. I have a suspicion Blount might do well here because he is fundamentally sound. But he's just so terribly mediocre at basically everything that if he failed to have an impact then we'd REALLY be stuck with a completely unmovable contract. Wed to Mark Blount for life.

i don't know where your getting this "takes every shot " thing but hes got a good fg% and gets to the line quite well.

Blount did average 10.3pts/7.2reb/1.3blks/1.0 stls per game for the entire 2003-04 season... i think that putting up those numbers for a whole season, makes him a pretty decent player... being a stiff, would mean he did great in a couple of games/playoff series (i.e. jerome james or austin croshere) and parlayed that into a big contract... but when you have produced decent numbers for a big man for 2 ENTIRE seasons, i think he does have some skills we can use...

i think what he lacks is proper motivation and a good system to play in.... if the kings brought him in, adelman has a way of bring out the best in big men... and as long as he's in shape and willing to do some dirty work, i think adelman can use him... especially considering how injury prone miller has been...

I'm getting it from simply watching him, I don't know what you see when you watch him, but he dosen't pass the ball. 90% of our team has a good field goal percentage and gets to the line, thats nothing new, now defence, rebounding, hustle once again is what we need.

I would welcome and like Mark Blount on the team. But if we can get someone who's cheaper, and decent/solid too (like one of the guys I listed), obviously would be better.

Williamson isn't my first choice as a sf back, but hes decent. More importantly if hes given more minutes, say due to injuries, he's shown in the past to put a good numbers. reliable numbers. all this "never passes, always shoots" is simply an exaggeration on your part. now he might not be a good passer, or an effective playmaker, that is true, but that isn't what he's in there for. he's in there to finish and he can do it well.

i just want the season to start, because seeing nothing but baseball highlights sucks bad! I would really rather see kobe hitting a game winning shot against the sonics than seeing the toronto bluejays give up 4 runs in the 7th inning against the yankees! Ahhh, luckily college football begins this weekend.

Everyone else has practically said this, but the Kings need a backup center. Francisco Elson or Melvin Ely would be perfect. Maybe get something in return for a sign-and-trade with Songaila to the Bulls and sign Matt Barnes and then we'd be a serious contender...............at least on paper :P

But I would love a Peja/KT/Corliss Williamson for Mark Blount/Paul Pierce trade. Ever better would be a KT/Brian Skinner/Peja for Corey Magette/Elton Brand (or take out Peja and put in Corliss and take out Brand and put in Kaman....which would never, ever happen...but Donald Sterling is a very dumb GM...so I should never say never)

YES. I would love one of them on this team, and be a good back-up for Brad.

Glad to see some more Ely/Elson love...

Unfortunately that was the ONE year when Blount looked like anything at all, and that just happened to be a contract year to earn him a ridiculous KTesque contract. Then he comes back last year and goes 9.4pts 4.8rebs 1.6ast 0.8blks in 26min -- as a center. I could probably average 4.8rebs in 26 min. There is a reason Boston is looking to dump him -- the suspicion that he is the epitome of mediocrity and they made a bad mistake with that contract.

Its not 100% clear yet, but when a guy has been in the league 6 yrs and produced ONE good season, and its his contract year, that's suspicious. When he is then carrying around a huge longterm deal, you have to really watch out.

It started last night, actually:)

Ya I agree a bit, were much stronger then last year, but I still think theres one more move, after Spurs aquired Finley & NVE I think we need a little more if we really wanna compete, I have a feelin it'll be Corliss for some reason, he just dosen't fit...

Maybe pickin up a legit back-up center with more size then Skinner, We could prolly pick up a decent one with a Skinner, Corliss trade..

Corliss not fit? Why? Cause he's the only guy with a set?! People are so quick to dump Corliss but he is probably a good person to have considering he is one of the toughest guys on the team. Look at the playoffs. He went in there and went toe to toe with Fortson. When Kenny got popped in the eye by Pryzbilla (sp?) who then continued to play rough, Big Nasty was the one that set him straight and roughed him up right back. The guy is TOUGH.

No doubt, Corliss is tough... I'd be fine if he stays on this team.

Don't think he's the only guy with guts though.

Well, HoopsHype.com still has him listed as a Buck unrestricted free-agent...

NBA.com no longer has him listed.

He wouldn't really be one of my choices though, nor do I think for the Kings.

One of these guys, a few more realistic than others:

Mark Blount - http://www.hoopshype.com/players/mark_blount.htm

Zendon Hamilton - http://www.hoopshype.com/players/zendon_hamilton.htm

Francisco Elson - http://www.hoopshype.com/players/francisco_elson.htm

Melvin Ely - http://www.nba.com/playerfile/melvin_ely/index.html

More on Ely:

We would be extremely lucky to land Melvin. Watched him play at Fresno State and the guy is a shot blocking machine. Not too bad on offense either.

Yeah, I'd love to have Ely in Sac, he's a real good player...

I think he's underrated and overlooked some, probably some of that comes from being with Charlotte too.

And the Clippers before that.

Yeah i watched some of the games last night, kinda snooze fest with the xception of the oregon game. (this replying to thread about the football season already starting.)

Mark Blount once had most ridiculous statline I've ever seen - something like 22min, 0p, 0r, 0a, 0st, 0bl, 1TO, 6 fouls. Stats don't tell everything but these stats probably do.

So, one game means what? lol

I wouldn't mind seeing G-Wall back at all, I'd like it. But it's not too likely, either the cats keep him, or someone else gets him.

It means how bad he can be and makes you believe that Kenny's deal is a fair one. Kenny's contract is pretty hard to move but there's always a hope that a team like Orlando if they will be a bit behind in playoff's race or New Jersey when they realize that Nenad Krstic, Mark Jackson or Jason Collins are too slow to play PF may be willing to trade for Kenny. With Blount you have a cap filler for 5 years. Jamal Sampson had 5.3reb and 0.74bl in 14.3min for Charlotte last season and he's 22 so I'd rather give a chance to him. He reminds very much of young Keon Clark.

One guy I wouldn't mind seeing would be Tony Battie. I always liked his game, he works his butt off on D, and can block a few shots.

I wonder what the training camp roster will look like. Will Robert Archibald be back? Maybe he has a shot at making the team?

Hasn't Battie got some concerns with his knees
