Most Overrated Players

its not kevins weight im picking on. there is a difference between being 175 and playing like it and being 175 and playing like youre 225. fyi, reggie is another player that martin cannot be mentioned in the same breath as. knock it off. its not about your size, its how you play the game. kevin martin plays like he's 175. it shows. hitting the floor or losing balance every time there's a pinch of contact. more often than sporadic. i criticize him because he just isnt strong enough. he cant get to the rim at will and he cant defend strong 2 guards

you should be more careful. a player like reggie miller deserves more respect. the greatest shooting threat of all time. you know who else is 175? iverson. you gona compare him to martin now?

Are you saying if he gained weight that he would be even better? maybe 30pts per game. I don't recall anybody saying he would be a franchise saviour either. He is however a good piece. I can understand critisism of some players on the Kings that is deserved. But don't blame Kevin because he isn't a franchise saviour. It just so happens he is the best player on the team. Not his fault we haven't gotten that guy yet.

I actually think Salmons is underrated. Considering his salary, its a real bargin we got. There aren't that many players in the league with his salary that can drop 20+ pts and defend. Only thing with Salmons is he isn't consistent.

I'll respectfully disagree; I don't think that he's a scrub, as such, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if there were literally a hundred guys or more in the league that could do what Salmons has done, given the same amount of minutes and shots. Remember what Flip Murray did filling in for Ray Allen back in 2003-04? Remember what Tarence Kinsey did in Memphis a couple of years ago?

Kevin Martin
20.8pts 2.7rebs 2.6asts 1.2spg

Ray Allen
18.5pts 3.6rebs 2.5asts .7spg

Richard Hamilton
17.2pts 3.4rebs 3.3asts .6spg

Kevin Martin is on Ray Allen and Richard Hamiltons level, Kmart is alot better at steals in the passing lane then both also.

ehh, I think you know those numbers arent really fair. Allen is on the Celts with two HOF'ers sharing the rock and Rip is on the same team as AI and Wallace ( maybe two more HOF'ers ) and, well, martin is on the same team as mikki moore.

However, I think Kmart might be overrated around here and to other kings fans, but I think he is very underrated to everyone else. Most casual NBA fans ( some people around here who only follow the celts ) still think the kings best player is bibby or artest .. oh welll, I like Kmart. I think he is on the same level as Rip and Ray Ray ( at this point in allens career ) although those numbers are deceiving.

As far as salmons is concerned, I dont think salmons is overrated but his numbers are deffinetly way higher than they would be anywhere esle.

Stats don't tell the whole story. Ray Allen and Rip Hamilton have one thing that Martin doesn't - a ring. They are perfectly capable of besting Martin's stats, but they sacrifice for the good of the team. That's not to say that some day soon Martin won't get there.

What's the deal with piling on tyrant? All he's saying is his opinion that Hamilton and Allen are both better than Martin at this point.

If the goal is to make a run at a Championship we need to assess our players...

1. Kevin Martin is a poor man's Ray Allen....third option on a championship team....

2. Mikki Moore and Bobby Jackson are the 10th and 11th best players...

3 Bobby Brown, Quincy Douby, Shelden Williams are what we thought they were.....

4. John Salmon and Beno Udrih are very much overrated...Both dribble too long and shoot first mentality is pathetic...

5. Francisco Garcia gets to much credit, only reason he plays is he reminds Reggie of himself....Flamboyant..

Ray Allen is a poor man's Kevin Martin. I'll take grief for that, but I really believe it. Among other things, Martin eats Allen alive when they play head to head. He could be a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd option on a championship team. I want to see him have a BIG second half of this year (even though I want a high draft pick).

Bobby Brown is still a product in the making. He's very quick, fast, and can shoot. He obviously needs more experience to recognize what's happening on the floor and in distibuting the ball. He also should get much better on defense. He needs at least two more years to develop, if not more, before we know what we have. I don't know what his contract situation is, but I'd like to see him have and additional 3 yrs.

Salmons isn't overated, but he does dribble too much and at times is selfish with the ball. Because of his age and his style of play he doesn't fit with this team; he should be traded.

Garcia is a keeper, period.

Jackson is still pretty good; he certainly hasn't deteriorated to the Douby level (see Portland game), but this will be his last year with the Kings.

Miki, Douby, Williams should be gone.

The only reason Ray Allen has a ring is because he's on the same team as KG and Paul Pierce.

..And that's the only reason.

What exactly did Ray Allen do before Boston?? That's right --NOTHING. In fact, he helped turn the Seattle franchise into a non-existent OKC team.

He got close in Milwaukee, but could never get over the hump. So, could someone please tell me why we would want Kevin to turn into Ray Allen???

See how easy that was?

I mean, holy revisionist history, Batman, let's totally forget that Ray Allen was pretty close to career averages of 24/4/4 before he was traded to Boston. Howzabout we let Martin sniff those numbers before we start calling Ray Allen a watered-down version of him!

So, using your analogy, Stocton and Malone suck. As does Barkley and many others that never got their team over the hump as you say.

To blame Allen for the teams move to Oklahoma is totally ridiculous. I guess Mitch Richmond sucks too. I mean after all, the only reason he has a ring is that he sat on the Laker bench for a year.

Hey! Don't don't change my post and then quote me! ;)

Um, did I ever use the phrase, "Ray Allen Sucks" ???

Just because a player doesn't win a title doesn't mean they suck.

IMHO, I just simply don't see the big deal about Ray Allen. Nothing to get too crazy over I hope.

Okay, I'll try to make it simple for you. We'd like to turn Kevin Martin into Ray Allen for the simple reason Allen was a major contributor to a team with a bunch of stars who managed to put their individual egos aside and WIN THE FREAKING TITLE for their team.

That work for you?

Actually, no.

If that's the argument, if were basing it on that, then can't Kevin turn in to James Posey, Bruce Bowen or Rick Fox??

My apologies. Suck was my choice of words. I was simply trying to capture the spirit of you post. I may have exagerrated a tad.;)
