More Tank Talk! Plus, What is a Wing? (split from the [Game] thread}

My guess is the ship has already sailed. Firing MB was likely a FO decision, now he’s just serving out the remainder of his sentence here.

Hopefully he lands on his feet somewhere. I expect he’ll be a hot prospect for another organization but may unfortunately not get a shot at the catbird seat again.

And of course word gets out so we likely won’t be seriously considered for any of the top up and coming management candidates
No he won’t

Yeah well at that point you at least could have hope. Young talent, draft picks upcoming. It wasn’t great basketball but if you squinted you could see where it might be.

this teams core players are old. Young’s guys like Carter are getting 3 minutes. Laravia looks promising but good chance he will be gone in yet another 6 month life span trade. Teams too good to be bad and too bad to be good.

so playin and out for the foreseeable future.

Nobody is going to want to work for a power tripping boss's daughter and her washed out NBA bust bf.

It's now, all the sudden, VERY possible that we miss even the play-in. If we do, all bets are off what happens with this team int he offseason. Complete front office turnover, coaching staff, massive trades. The frustration will be high and the camaraderie will be low.
I'm at the point I'd rather watch Carter/keon/Keegan play massive minutes next season and start our rebuild with them.

Fox really destroyed this org man by leaking hed only resign with the Spurs. Forcing us to get 50 cents on the dollar.

Yah, this mess isn’t on Fox. Vivek is a mess. I didn’t renew my season tickets because watching this iso team just kills me. If Vivek tries putting his daughter or Lamb in the GM seat I’m ready to accept that this team would have been better off in Seattle.

I mean Vivek is always lurking, but the Fox situation truly rubs me the wrong way. Scheming for months to get out of Sac, only staying "quiet" to get paid and then probably force his way out if he was on track for all nba. And then tanking all his trade value by forcing us to only deal with the Spurs and no one else. Oh and because everyone knows that l, the Spurs get to operate in a position of strength getting the best player

If your boss is incompetent, do you owe allegiance to the company? I am with Fox on the coaching carousel, there is no excuse. If my ceo repeatedly supplied me with incompetent leadership, I would have done the same as Fox.

It was one of the lowest class moves I've ever seen a player do in the NBA. I'd put Artest's antics (pre Kings even) above Fox. At least Artest was a great teammate and a dawg for his guys.

No, but you can leave amicablly and move on instead of burning your old building down on the way out.

I have no issue with Fox wanting to leave, I have issue with how he did it.

That is exactly the point. One can respectfully leave a team/request a trade without treachery, lies, and hit pieces published by Sam Amick for the Athletic.

Even the fans would have been understanding if he left that way.

The firing of Malone continues to be one of the worst things this team did in the last 20 years. Ol' Petey really did us one there.

If your so called best player tells you that he won’t play for any other coach and then you have an inkling that you might fire that coach, what does COMMON SENSE tell you? You trade Fox first!! Then you fire the coach. You don’t give your player the chance to dictate anything to you.
If we are to believe Fox's paid content article in the Athletic. There is no reason to believe a word he says right now.

Very good point.

On the other hand we have a front office guy fighting to save his job, so what if it takes 3 weeks of playing loser quit ball under a dead man walking coach before a proper trade is found and by that point even a good trade can’t save the season or his job.

At halftime I listen to Grant and Jerry online and Grant asked Jerry if he has ever seen a GM or asst GM leave his job while the season is still ongoing and Jerry said “can’t say I have.” You gotta remember Jerry Reynolds’s been in pro basketball for what, 30 years? There is certainly stuff going on behind the scenes and it’s not good stuff.

Jerry Reynolds has been getting paid for his opinions on basketball for going on 60 years. He started as a junior college coach immediately after his playing days ended in his mid 20s. He's in his mid 80s now. He's been involved with the Kings since 1985, and came over from KC. He had been coaching a college team in the KC area to success before getting on with the Kings there. 40+ years in the NBA.

I sometimes tune into that show and Grant cannot resist saying how bad Mark Jones/Kaytie are at least once a show.
