not too much potential imo. his b ball iq is low, is foul prone, has rasheed wallace like reactions to fouls and looks to be a garbage man for his career. next season will show for sure.

I get it. The problem with this comparison is that Rubio is much more of an enigma in terms of what he can do on a basketball court. Everyone knows full well what Cousins can do. Last year was a total freak occurance. It was pure hype.

with a possibility of getting Al Jefferson for him emerging I would do that within a blink of an eye. Then again if we get Cousins I'd rather stick with him.

All I know is I will never again doubt Petrie's decisions. Not all are perfect but most of them are. I'm just going to go with whatever.

I hear ya...but I just don't know why people think that it would be a bad thing if we got Monroe. He doesn't suck, and definitely isn't the second coming of Oliver Miller, Hot Plat Williams, Tractor Trailer or Roy Rogers. We will have to wait and see, but if Petrie does end up picking Monroe over Cousins, there obviously are some very big red flags that he saw. Monroe will be a fine NBA player for whoever he is drafted by...and if Cousins turns out to be the 2nd coming of Shaq good for him, he could be Eddy Curry or Roy Tarpley though...only time will tell.

Monroe doesn't suck at all, if this draft didnt have a prospect like Demarcus Cousins and/or Derrick Favors raw athletic ability I think people would have no problem with Monroe. He's a great passing big man with a soft touch and he definitely might have it in him to play in the post.

It's just with drafting a guy like Reke last year, even if fans were mad at first about Rubio(myself included) he proved to change the teams direction, signalling a new tough bruising take no crap team we are building. Then we drafted Casspi and Brockness and as the season progressed these young guys showed a crazy ammount of heart and determination to win games, something we haven't seen around this team in awhile. Then we picked up Carl Landry a real tough guy who tries his damndest to get work done downlow DESPITE his lack of size to be a dominat force at his position. We are bringing in guys that will do the neccessary work to have success in the NBA, guys who don't mind scrapping for loose balls and are mentally tough.

I haven't seen alot of DMC or Favors, but I saw TOO much of Monroe in college. He isn't mentally tough out there on the court and he never shown signs of being comfortable being that guy out there on the court. I watched him in the NCAA tourney game against Ohio, (a team his team shoulda stomped out mind you) as he sat in the high post passively letting stuff get outta hand.

Now that was probably the offense they ran that made him not go down low and beast but the fact still remains that if he was any sort of winner he would of played that game to win instead of getting embarrassed.

I totally agree with you about him sucking in the tourney, but I think that had alot to do with JT III's structured system, didn't really allow for him to come outside the box much, but be it on him for not taking control too.

I remember hearing about this dude all season and something just told me he'd be the type of guy GP would take a look at, I've thought this even before we got Tyreke. I honestly think if we selected Rubio I would love to have this dude on the team hahaha, but unless Reke gonna become a pick and roll master I do not see Mr. Monroe fitting.

yeah Grant sure has been hinting at Monroe today. this is scary

He's actually been making Monroe out to be the next best thing since sliced bread. Now I'm not saying 100% we WILL pick Monroe, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Only time and seasons will tell if he was the right choice, but I'm down for whatever.
