Monarchs Win!!! An Afternoon Matinee w/Storm

74-61. And I don't care if Jackson didn't play, that is a solid win. If they can get the matinee game against New York on Thursday heading into a tough 4 game East Coast roadie (Minnesota, Indiana, Detroit and Conneticut) go 2-2.....Now all of a sudden you are 17-10, on a roll heading down the stretch into the playoff season.

Go Monarchs!!!:D

Thanks for a little entertainment on the radio during a 105 degree day at work. :)

The game against Indy will be the hardest IMO. They lead the league in defense if I'm not mistaken and they've only lost one home game.

Aside from that pathetic first quarter... it really was a great effort by the team. That's the kind of box score we need if we're going to survive the tough road trip ahead of us. Very balanced. Great effort from Brunson, Maiga-Ba, and Haynie today. Walker had a good game too. Who would think that we'd go for a blowout with our starters not hitting a bucket until the 2nd quarter?

I guess I should get back to work now... I've been quite un-productive for about 2 1/2 hours now!

No qualifications needed on this win I don’t think either. Have to keep snapping up wins as the games are presented to you regardless of who is or isn’t in the line up on either side. They need to come home and take care of business and I absolutely agree with coach T, they do that – they can split the games on the very tough roady and come home feeling pretty good about where they stand. Do better than 2-2 on the trip and It’s gravy.

Horrid offensive start to the game. Again, like Saturday they reached back and found some defense to keep themselves in it despite the cold offense. Nice to know that the bus with the offense finally arrived and they lit it up (relatively speaking) the rest of the way. Very nice to see Brunson’s game return, they need to keep her going. Solid game from Haynie and Maiga. If they can refocus Buescher and have her AND Brunson AND a resurgent Walker AND Yo clicking at the same time? I’m liking it.

There was a point in the 3rd that I made note of as Seattle made a run to close the gap to I believe 6, the offense had stalled and coach brought in Walker and ran the high post through her and that seemed to get them back on track. I had it down as at least a 6-0 run following her entry but it could have been more since I had to turn my attention somewhere else for a bit during that stretch. Shoot, I don’t quite have my notes marked right so I’m not sure what the run was, but it seemed for sure to me that the complexion of the offense changed when she came in. There was also a pivotal shot clock violation that the Monarchs forced in the 3rd that I also was tracking the effects of and I can’t remember which asterisk was which in my notes – but another Monarchs run followed that point too.

Hysterical conversation with Haynie afterwards. They throw out the 0-13 from the floor stat and then start talking about another subject and Haynie comes back to that topic and says “we started 0 for 13 or whatever” Koz says…”there was no whatever about it, you all were 0 for 13” Haynie “we were??? I thought you were making that up…that’s pretty bad”

C’mon ladies…get it done and create more space!!!

Ha...thats funny. I had a 2 pm Dr. Appt. Caught most of the game.
Excellent 2,3 & 4th period. Also got a chukle out of Koz & Krista talking about Lennox trying to be physical, going up aganist 3 Monarchs. Koz said he'd take DeMaya, Yo & Brunson on his side in a street fight anyday! The bench was solid, it's just great that we have a 10 or 11 player rotation. Must be confusing for teams especially when our players are clicking on all cylinders.

Just awesome...I'm so proud of them!

best bench in league does it again

50 for the bench vs, 24 for starters!
Depth is what wins championships in the compressed schedule of the WNBA. Our bench is unreal.

Yeah, when you have a bench scoring 50 pts, they sure can take up the slack if the starters are "cold." Fortunately, the starters can sure serve up some defense to keep us in the game.
