This is how they get me crawling back.
Everyone looks good in green and gold, especially when they're flying around the bases. I may wait out the first half of this season though -- until SS extraordinaire Nick Allen gets called up. Offense is fun too but I like to watch baseball for the defensive highlights.Yeah Bart and Joc have definitely been great to start out. Bart's splits are really funny:

So Bart only has 2/22 PA this year where he's puts the ball in play for an out. Crazy.
Really does help we can play Ruf everyday though. He's still been really good, but gotten pretty unlucky with some of his BABIP and how hard he's hitting the ball. Belt been his typical elite self too.
Yaz, Duggar, Crawford, Slater with real rough starts. Thankfully, we'll have some OF help (Wade, Ramos?) that if they continue to struggle, we'll have some options.

I’m guessing Crawford will return to steady/unspectacular .260/15HR level. Yaz, Slater, and Duggar all suck. We really have to hope LaMonte wasn’t a flash in the pan. And also Yaz at least finds his power when he isn’t swinging though high fastballs. I have no hope for Slater and Dugger ever contributing steadily with their offense and have been waiting for them to get replaced for multiple seasons at this point.
-I think Slater is a reasonably good 4th OF because he does rake lefties and is a versatile defensive OF. But yeah, it's pretty clear he's strictly a platoon guy at this point and I doubt he'll just figure out how to hit RH at 29.
-Duggar same thing. He's a good defensive OF, but the bat just isn't going to come around at this point. Massive K rate, not even playable vs LH. So unfortunate we chose wrong in that McCutch trade as Brian Reynolds has become an elite hitter.

Bryan Reynolds is pain. The same kind of pain as Joe Nathan being an elite closer for a decade and Francisco Liriano being elite for a few seasons before his arm fell off.
Reynolds-Ramos-Bart middle of the order for the next 7 years.... sigh.

eh disagree. His BABIP is crazy high so far. To be fair, he had a super favorable BABIP which was a big part of his low era. The K stuff has been good, not walking guys.
Likely a scheduled day off. Already been in 5/7 games for the Giants.
hopefully should get some help when Longo, La Stella and Wade get healthy. And if the OF keep struggling, get Ramos consistent AB's. Thankfully, the Giants are crazy deep, although just not with super elite hitting talent.

The great thing about the A's is that our cheap as crap owner will force us to do something absolutely stupid like dump our two cornerstone infielders before he'd actually have to pay them and ship off the best manager in modern A's history without even asking for anything in return and Beane and Forst will find ways to build a functional lineup around 57-year-old Jed Lowrie and Cristian Pache with Mark Kotsay taking the reigns as a first-time manager after a lockout.
Absolutely frustrating and infuriating but also oddly comforting as a fan. Just gotta get the new stadium done (in Oakland) and ship out Fisher for someone willing to spend money.
