Missing the games

I am Soooo missing the games...its sad....I always hate this part year...waiting and waiting for the next season to start....my schedule had to be worked around the monarchs schedules and now nothing haha....
Naw Anyways...I miss seeing all the girls and having some kind of interactions with them....cant wait for the next season!

I know exactly what you mean, there isn't even much news to read about the Monarchs or the WNBA. To scratch my sports itch I have to content myself with the NFL and baseball playoffs right now, but it just isn't the same as having a good women's sport/team you can follow and root for. I guess I am lucky--I only have about 5-6 wks. to go before the women's college season starts--yahoo go MSU!! If you have a Univ. women's team in Sacramento maybe you could start following them too. The games are cheap and fun & the women can always use your support (it's a longer season than the WNBA). That way, when it ends in March you only have a couple of months before the WNBA season starts again.

In the meantime, try catching up on some old articles (just in case if you missed any!) from the local Sacramento newspaper website:

http://www.sacbee.com/content/sports/basketball/monarchs/

They go far back as just before the '05 WNBA Draft! :)

Also, you can catch up with other WNBA teams' news reports, as well as college teams, from this valuable repository:

The Sacramento State University's Lady Hornets is the local college team. They aren't very good, though. But to be fair, the women's b-ball program really hasn't received much support or attention, and the team's performance seem to be slowly improving over the previous year.

U.C. Davis' Aggies are another local women's b-ball team, and are probably better than the Lady Hornets.

I have read EVERY news article haha...I need NEW stuff...
Sac State teams are not very good...I know bball and soccer for sure they are not that great....but regardless of how good or bad they are..its still fun to watch

I was at Disneyland from last Wednesday to this Monday, and wore my championship t-shirt. We ran into other fans there too! They had their western conference champs shirts on, and another had a Yo jersey. So it was definitely the happiest place on Earth!!!:D

Well, I guess it truly is a "small, small, small world, after all"! :)

If you're in Northern CA, make the trip to Stanford to see PAC-10 women's basketball, it's worth it, especially when the SoCal schools and Arizona St. come in to Mapels, those should be some excellent matchups. Oh yeah, and some rinky dink program from Knoxville is coming to Palo Alto on December 3rd. Cal Berkeley and Stanford typically host a holiday tournament (Cal still might, I don't think Stanford has recently) and I've taken advantage of those to get to see Georgia, Temple and Kansas St.

Sac State is always a good choice for women's volleyball, and most of the time for softball. (I have to diversify or I'd go nuts). University of the Pacific is pretty decent too and I believe the Stanford basketball team is traveling to Stockton this year for a game.

Disneyland huh? And Breton says nobody in the region cares but maybe a handful of people....

As much as I love Monarch Basketball I would drive myself crazy if I had withdrawals until next season. SHOOT, THE SEASON DON'T START UNTIL JUNE!!!

My suggestion is to get into Kings Basketball if you are not already. I will this will be one exciting season.

I could have sworn I saw this post regarding the Kings. The Kings were done and we encouraged the Big Brother fans to check out the Queens.

Interesting role reversal.

I am sure I will check out the Kings at some point this year just because they are Big Brother.
However I am a WBB fans first and foremost.
A Stanford/Tennessee match-up is far more appealing than Kings/Portland match up.
But definately wish Big Bro the best, and thank them for coming out and Supporting Da Queens.
