Mikki back to NJ?

A note on the article in general - I am happy to hear the Kings are one of the most active in discussing trades - hopefully something breaks loose soon.

Only players i would want from Nets is Devin Harris, Brooke Lopez and Ryan Anderson. which for Mikkie good luck. we should just pay Mikkie's 2mil buyout next year.

Of those three, Ryan Anderson is the most realistic, and I would be happy with that. I like Anderson. He brings a lot of different looks to the table. He can score inside or out and is a good rebounder. He could play a little SF at times if needed.

The Ron Artest trade with Houston decimated this team from a competitive standpoint. For all of Artest's misgivings, his fiery ways sometimes served as a dysfunctional leadership for a team that now lacks leaders. What's more, the Kings' defense without him has plummeted to league-low depths while the significant rebuilding piece acquired in return – rookie small forward Donté Greene – rarely plays.

This paragraph just makes me sad..:(

The list goes on from there and includes veteran forward Mikki Moore, who told The Bee recently that his old Nets bosses informed him of their desire to bring him back.

Well, if this is true - it's good to know that other teams front offices are talking to our players about coming to their teams. Even if Mikki was playing well - he certainly would probably want to return to where he had his career year.

Isn't there some sort of rule against this?

I wouldn't get too sad. We knew what we were losing with Artest, but what would be the alternative? Hold on to him for this season. Win more games and get another 10-12 lottery pick. Less minutes for our young players. Then Artest walks after this season and we have no Donte or draft pick to show for him and go through this kind of season next year instead.

Oh trust me - I'm glad we got rid of Artest. lol.

I'm just sad over Donte's time. I can't wait until we can get this kid some minutes!!

Feb 19th can't come fast enough!!! ;)

Look, all these trades if they were made five years ago would be nice--I loved Swift's pogo stick athleticism, dunking and shotblocking ability. But like Tinsley, these players who seem to prematurely age or lose their abilities because of injuries or other problems...not so sure anymore. I'm still relatively high on Swift, although he's got the basketball IQ of a chair...but that athleticism is still enticing to me. We sorely lack the intensity/shotblocking sort of players, and he's still < 30 years old, despite the contract, so if there's a time to take a risk now may be the time--he has nil value. But the contract may be in the way here

Agreed. I can't wait to watch them develop and to see players on the court who actually look like they want to be there.

I would even welcome a Q for ager trade. Ager is a bigger stronger guard, and has some better PG instincts than Q does. At least it would be a change and some new blood in the system. Why not, maybe he passes expectations and turns out to be something good for us.

It's an ok trade, but it's just a lateral trade. Both are first round picks that haven't panned out in the league, but I think Douby has a better chance in the league, because at least he's shown that he can excel in garbagetime, can potentially increase the efficiency of his one trick (shooting ability) with more confidence/playing time, and has some defense to go along with it. As for Ager...the guy just can't play. At all. His PER is virtually invisible, and he fits the stigma of the player who can't do anything that well...billed as an athletic guy who can attack the basket or hit jumpers out of draft day, he's just not a good enough jumpshooter, he can't pass the ball, and he's basically a 6'5" SF. The last 6'5" SF to be appreciated in the league was Ruben Patterson, but even he had far more skills than Ager.

I suppose. I saw Ager play a lot in college at MSU and summer league(I know, its only college and summer league - not comparable to the reg season), but he plays more of the point and 2 than SF, although he has the size of a sf. He just seems more dynamic than Q, and since we havent got anything out of Q anyway, why not go for it. I know Ager hasnt done a whole lot although he played a few years of his career behind devin harris and terry on dallas, but its not like Q is offering us anything. I see your points and they are very valid. I think at this point in time we need to keep pretty open minds and think that maybe if a guy isnt doing anything for us (Q), we could get something in return from him (Ager) who with enough playtime and exposure could turn into something more than what we had with Q.
