Mike Bibby - Too early to say goodbye?

That Bibby had a S***load of talent around him who worked hard to get him open shots. This teams practically incapable of that.

That is the way a great team works. ONE player CANNOT get it done alone. It takes a TEAM. You need good players around a GREAT player to win. That team had a LONG list of good/great players. If it only took one player, KG would have multiple rings. The heat with Wade would still be at the top. Kobe could win without Shaq, Jordan would have won with the Wizards. I could go on, but you get the point. We keep saying that Bibby was only good when he had good players around him. I think he is good on his own (He is having a HORRIBLE season), but this team simply has the WRONG mix of players.

I like Bibby. I have since he played at AZ. I'll opnely admit that I would HATE to see him traded and disagree with most of the negative things said about him recently. However, if there was a trade that would bring us a better PG on the table, I would say take it. I am a Kings' fan above all player loyality. But to trade him just because of this season NO WAY. If there was one player I would trade now, it would be Artest. Even then, ONLY if it made us better now or in the seasons to come.

KT/Sar are like an endless pit where they forget they have (Artest is like this on ocassion)teamates and develop tunnel vision. They dont even see the 3 players surrounding them as they put a shot that has no shot at going in.

Combined they shoot the ball 14 times (@ at 48% clip). I really don't think that classifies EITHER of them as ball hogs or "endless pits".

The problem is that neither of them know when they'll touch the ball again. They aren't a consistant part of the offense. This is especially true of a scorer like SAR who is used to putting the ball in the hoop. So, both of them try to do a little too much with the ball on the rare occation they do touch it within their comfort zone.

They are not players youd want on a winning team. You cannot win with SAR getting 20 ppg. That means your team is getting beat by 10-15 every game.

That doesn't make any sense.

SAR and KT absolurle kill our offensive flow. They simply dont fit here.

I agree with that. This team has no offensive identity and rarely has a true gameplan.

This team wants to fire from the outside and not pass the ball. No true post player can exist within that framework. They need someone to pass them the ball.

This is why I don't really like Mike Bibby. It seems he's the one that wants to play run-and-gun with images of the old Princeton, but he's not got the team. He needs to adjust to what we have and I don't see that happening.

The main problem with stressing a posting game comes when your primary post player just isn't that good at what he does.

To play in the low post, you have to be well aware that when the defense collapses in on you, there is at least one of YOUR teammates open somewhere on the court. SAR all too often tries to fight through a double or even triple team without looking for the open man. He'll spin and put up that half-hook that misses more often than it goes in or he'll try and outmaneuver the defenders and get called for traveling.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim is a nice guy. All the players say so, the media folk who cover the team say so, etc. BUT he is not the answer to this team's woes. He's a role player who seems to be accepting his role but he is NOT the power forward - or center - that's going to turn this team around no matter how many times the Kings run post plays.

If someone is going to adjust, I would recommend that SAR forget about the good old days and realize his true worth is in drawing the defense in so one of our shooters is free and THEN getting the ball to them, not trying to get the points himself.

Thank you. I like SAR, but that is what I see too often.

I think we've seen a lot of this over the course of the current year, but I think you forget that he was a very good passer last year out of the post.

Again, I think this boils down to SAR not getting a decent amount of touches and trying to convert on the few he does have.

I'm not so sure I agree that it misses more often than it goes in. He's shooting 48% this year and he's missing more jumpers than inside stuff. Also, his "travelling" calls have gone way down over the course of the season (He's under 2 TOs a game right now) I think the new rules took some getting used to.

I don't think anyone thinks he is. But, there is no harm in mixing it up and getting one of the more efficient scorers on the team more shots.

There's no question that SAR is one of the only players (if not the single player) on our roster capable of creating high percentage looks.

I would recommend that SAR forget about the good old days and realize his true worth is in drawing the defense in so one of our shooters is free and THEN getting the ball to them, not trying to get the points himself.

Hard to do either thing if he's not touching it in the post. YOu've got to use it before you can actually draw much of the defense.

If you think SAR forces the shots ... how can you defend it when Artest shoots? Bibby? And lately even Martin and Salmons?
