Miami Herald (scroll down) (registration required): "But Barron will be No. 4 at center for Miami, meaning No. 3 Michael Doleac remains an option to be traded for a point guard."

Doleac would be a good second string center, we trade for overabundant pg like hart and 2nd round pick seems like a good idea to me.

Doleac makes 2.8 million this year and has a player option for 3.1 next year.

crafty vet not used in miami

-averaged about 15 min a game for 10 yrs
-dependable rebounder and FT shooter
-seems alittle foul prone

overall still under salary cap and have a solid back-up big

Doleac is perhaps the most intelligent player in the league, but we don't need that. He's a great spot up shooter, bad rebounder and bad defender. Sounds like Brad.

Jason Hart's contract comes off the books this year and Doleac has a player option for about 3 mill for next year which I'm sure he will pick up so I'm not sure why we would want to add another 3 mill in salary next year.

Doleac as back-up/third center for a R2 pick AND Hart? No. We can get better than him, and I'd rather keep that package. One of those pieces could be better used anyways as sweeteners/throw-ins.

This forum has an amazing ammount of negativity.

Hart or 2nd round pick.....if they need a guard now, send one over.
Doleac is alot better than Potapenko/ Santiago, more experience than Amundson/ Williams!

He's actually pretty good, it's just he didn't get any time behind the Shaq/ Mourning combo... then again who would?

Do you really want to pay Doleac 3 million next year??? No thanks. Possibly a minimum contract but he isn't worth that amount of money.

Amundson/Williams are irrelevant because they aren't centers. Williams would only play center if we went small, and of course getting minutes in general.

Regardless, we can get better than Doleac. He's similar to Potapenko. I'd rather save those two (Hart/R2 pick) pieces for a better deal.

Doelac is just about the last person I'd be interested in as a new big -- does absolutley NONE of the things we theoretically need a big guy to do.

Might be useful to a team like Chicago though.

It's not about negativity.

It's about people who are very passionate about the Kings and have clear ideas of who will and won't make them better.

Doleac being better than Potapenko/Santiago isn't saying a whole lot. I'd rank Greg Ostertag as better than either of them, too...

;)

What are you basing this "pretty good" on? Looking at his stats, there is actually NOTHING he's any good at (maybe free-throw shooting, but who cares if you shoot less than one a game?). At his best he's been a decent rebounder who shoots poorly (43.7%) and doesn't block shots.

Statistically he's not better than Potapenko at all. In fact, he's worse, so in other words, I'll pass.

Actually I like Doleac. He is a pretty decent player. Not what we need of course but I wouldn't be angry if we somehow picked him up.

i have a napkin signed by hedo and doleac :)

but ya he really isnt needed here. it pains me to say this but the kandiman for a small contract is probably a better idea

Olowokandi would definitely be better than Doleac for us. Olowokandi is actually an interior defensive presence at 7' 260-265, long, has some athleticism, and blocks shots and gets rebounds. Doleac is tall, hustles, can hit the j, but is not a shotblocker or any kind of an intimidator inside.

If I had to choose between Potapenko and Doleac, I'll take Potapenko.
