Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie wasn't pleased by the news.
"Well, at this point, with the things we are involved in," Petrie said of potential sign-and-trade deals, "having the date pushed back I don't think helps. These are things where we need to have some certainty. But when you're trying to come to an agreement and then you give people more time to negotiate and see if they can make a better deal. ...
"When teams are moving around to see what other things they may be able to do before they get to your thing, generally, that's not a good thing for you.
Man seems like something was about to go down until they pushed the date back.

The NBA notified teams Wednesday that the new collective bargaining agreement reached June 21 will not be finalized by Friday, when the free-agent signing period was scheduled to begin.
Free agents cannot sign new contracts until the collective bargaining agreement is finished, and the league did not announce a completion date. In the interim, teams and free agents still will be able to negotiate and reach agreements in principle.

The Kings still appear to be involved in conversations with Memphis regarding a deal that would bring swingman Bonzi Wells to Sacramento. The Los Angeles Clippers also have shown serious interest in Wells.
One positive Wells would find in Sacramento is playing time. He probably would start at shooting guard in place of Cuttino Mobley, who has reached a five-year agreement with the Clippers.
Agents reached Wednesday said news of the delayed CBA confirmation did not mean much to them.
Said the Bay Area's Bill Duffy: "I think it was expected, so it is no big deal."
Agent Marc Fleisher said the CBA is a massive document.
"There is a lot of language, and you can end up fighting about every word," said Fleisher, whose late father, Larry, once headed the National Basketball Players Association. "How you calculate the mid-level exception or what the rookie wage scale will be are all things that may not have been determined when the new agreement was reached and then brought to the players."
Fleisher represents free agents Jerome James and Chris Andersen, who have reached agreements with New York and New Orleans, respectively. Fleisher said the delay will not be a factor.
"If you have an agreement done," Fleisher said, "it just means you have to wait another week or so to sign it."
Now, if you're trying to make a trade, things might not feel as safe.
