McHale

ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher confirmed Friday that McHale had been offered
the job. The Associated Press reported the Rockets and McHale were still in
negotiations, citing a source familiar with the situation.

After interviewing numerous coaches in their search to replace Rick Adelman,
the Rockets narrowed their focus to McHale, who worked as an analyst for TNT
this season, Boston Celtics assistant coach Lawrence Frank and Dallas Mavericks assistant Dwane Casey, according to
sources.

Which sucks because McHale had turned into one of if not the best on air analyst the NBA had. If I have to listen to a low drade moron like Jalen Rose try to "analyze" a game one more time I am going to puke.

I absolutely agree. Rose is really bonehead boring compared to McHale as analyst. Didn't McHale just up and quit his coaching position with Minny? Out of some frustration either with players or himself as head coach? I know he got kicked upstairs as GM but I was surprised Houston selected him or even that he sought the job.

He was an interim coach twice at Minnesota, once replacing his college teammate Flip Saunders. Smart guy from the northlands of Minnesota.

I like this move by Houston. Give McHale another shot at it since he wasn't too successful the first time around.

He was a solid head coach after absolutely demolishing the Wolves as a GM for years. Good luck to him in Houston. If he can turn Hasheem Thabeet and Jordan Hill into productive non-wastes of height, he deserves Coach of the Year.

To be fair, Hill does sport the most intense set of quiet dredlocks this side of Mikki.

Turrible GM....Not that bad a coach.

Rick is a tough act to follow though. Just ask Muss, Theus, Natt, and Westphal. :p
