Maybe something else was up....

pure speculation... but maybe petrie knew something we didn't know about webb... maybe his knee is ALOT WORSE than we are thinking and he wanted to make sure he dumped webbs salary before his knee worsened or was reinjured??? or maybe webb had another violation of the nba drug policy and was in for a long suspension... or maybe, there is another trade on the horizon... this is all pure specualtion, but there MUST BE SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON HERE.... ISN'T THERE???

Even if there was something up, I would still take a bummed knee Webber over all of those fools we just picked up. Anyday of the week and a gazillion times on sundays He just came off a 30pts game FCOL.

payton on the horizon?

if the kings make another trade, they may try to trade one of the guy we got today for gary payton... the reason i speculate that is petrie still has no back up point guard and now has 3 SF/PF types in the trade... boston wants to trade payton before he walks as a free agent... and the kings get a back up point guard and his salary will come off the salary cap when he becomes a free agent this summer...

Always possible I suspose, but now wiht this move I don't think we're realistic championship contenders anymore, so not sure what good it would od us to rent Payton for 3 months. If we wanted cap releif, we could have tried to get big dog from Philly rather than the three crapeteers.

I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I really don't think we were championship contenders with Chris.

And the point you bring up is interesting. We didn't really get cap relief with the players we got... the only benefit is that they could be traded separately more easily than Webber can.

When GP traded DC I quiped that he had the abliy to smell milk about to go bad in the cooler. Maybe that is true this time too, who knows. But from where I sit it looks like a guy sitting at the table betting heavy into a hand after hand that don't quite win then bailed out on a bi pot holding a pair of Kings but with out the stomach to bet it out.

I just don't see how Williamson, Skiner and Thomas are going to be of much help as either players or trade bait. Since this deal including Bradly seems to slip some loop hole I hate to say none of these guys can be traded for Gary Payton but I don't think it works (one of the resident experts can check that out)

I didn't think anything was going to make me laugh before I went to bed...but that three crapeteers line did it for me. Thanks Brick. :D

I think the only way they got Bradley in on the deal was with an assigned player exception.

As for how you can package any of the guys that were just picked up, possibly using the assigned player and traded player exceptions...though I'm not sure.

I'd have to think there's another plan to do SOMETHING otherwise it wouldn't have made sense to not take GRob's expiring deal, Dalembert, and probably Skinner to make the numbers work.
