Clippers News | Feb. , 2006
Los Angeles Clippers Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor announced today that the team has acquired forward Vladimir Radmanovic from the Seattle SuperSonics in exchange for forward Chris Wilcox.

“Vladimir gives us versatility and he fits very well into our system,” Baylor said. “He’s agile and he runs the floor well. We see him playing multiple positions and his outside shooting will stretch the defense and be a big positive for our inside players.”

Radmanovic, in his fifth NBA season, has career averages of 10.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. The 6’10” Radmanovic is averaging 9.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 23.2 minutes per game this season. He set a new career-high with 30 points at New York on January 8, 2006 and is shooting a career-best .887 from the free throw line this season.

Originally selected by Seattle with the 12th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, Radmanovic has 11 games of playoff experience and helped lead Seattle to a 50-32 record last season, which was tops in the Northwest Division. Radmanovic was also a member of the 2004 Serbia & Montenegro Olympic Team.

Wilcox averaged 6.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in three plus seasons with the Clippers after being selected by the team with the eighth overall selection in the 2002 NBA Draft. Wilcox is averaging 4.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game this season, after averaging 7.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in 2004-05. Wilcox enjoyed his best NBA season in 2003-04, when he averaged career-highs of 8.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Looks like a wash to me; Supersonics needed a low-post scoring option, which Wilcox can provide (he wasn't getting much time behind Brand, anyway), and the Clippers get another perimeter threat.

Wilcox will probably start immediately.

I would tend to agree, it was what they were reportedly looking for, Seattle knew Vlad wasn't happy and decided they had to move him, Wilcox can be active and at times a banger, but just not enough of the time. I think Vlad will be a good fit and open up the lane a little for Brand to go to work and for their wing players to cut inside for easy buckets. Clippers are by far the best team in LA :D.

Wilcox is decent, he reminds me alot of Swift, but anywho, looks like a fair trade, Clippers already had a deep team, i wonder where Rad Man will come into play...

(pasted from my post of the topic just after KP's)

Pretty good trade for both teams. Clippers finally get a back-up SF (may start until Maggette's back), and a scorer off their weak bench. Sonics get rid of a whiner, and get back a young athletic big man to replace no-longer-used-on-way-out Evans/Fortson.

Wouldn't of minded getting Wilcox for Corliss. ;)

Sonics must have other deals on the plate to move Evans and/or Fortson to bring Wilcox on board, as neither are going to sniff the floor behind the foursome of Swift, the big French kid, Collison and Wilcox. Kings could use a guy like Evans off the bench imho. 2nd rounder and cash?

I agree, and would love to see Reggie on the Kings.

thats great for the clips since corey may be out for the season.....

Wilcox isn't great, but at least he bangs inside.

Radmanovic is 6'10 but plays like a 5'5 granny. Oh yeah...he's a bum too. Good riddance Seattle.
