On April 3rd 2002 Kings went to Detroit and trashed the Pistons 107-86 to improve to 55-19 for the season. At that time Kings were in the middle of a 12 games winning streak. It was the win #6. That was also the 5th game on the 6 game road trip which Kings swept. Kings were extremely hot these days. The 1st quarter was won by 21 and the game was over. No kool aid recipe was strong enough to make us lose that lead. Kings ended up shooting 55% for the game, outrebounded Pistons by 4 and had 30 assists. Just another game during the good old times. Webber lead the Kings with 28/7/8/2/2, Vlade had 15/9/2/2, Bibby had 15/2/4, Hedo had 13/7/4, DC had 11/4/7/5st. Off the bench Bobby had 9pts and GW had 8/4/2bl. Mateen played 5 minutes filling up tha stat sheet with 3 pts, 1rb, 3as, 1st. Corliss Williamson lead the Pistons.
The Detroit Pistons are on the way to their first Central Division title in 12 years. However, they have a long way to go before they can challenge
the best in the Western Conference. The Pistons never led as they absorbed a 107-86 thrashing from the Sacramento Kings, who got 28 points from Detroit native Chris Webber and set or tied a handful of franchise records. Detroit (45-30) has made a terrific turnaround this season, going from 50 losses to a chance at 50 wins. But the Pistons have struggled against the West's best, and this one was no exception. Coming in 1-5 against the West's top four teams, the Pistons dug themselves a 20-point hole in less than a quarter and got no closer than 17 points thereafter, failing to show any of the toughness they have made their trademark.
"We needed to have our `A' game tonight and we just didn't have it," Pistons coach Rick Carlisle said. "They are really good, so it added up to a humbling experience out there. We just have to get ready for Friday."
"I don't know how much of it had anything to do with us,"Pistons guard Jerry Stackhouse added. "It was just them. It was almost like they were playing street basketball. And they were having fun doing it. That's what makes them so good."
"Obviously, that's about as good as it gets for us," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We really played well. The first quarter offensively, we were really good. It was a big win for us."
"They're a great offensive team and they got off to a great start," Barry said. "We were pretty much never in the game. It's tough to come back against any team when you're down double figures in the first quarter. But against what's probably the best team in basketball, it's too much to ask."
please forgive me if I just made You depressed

Back to the painful reality in which Kings didn't even care that they played the Lakers which started yet another losing streak dropping Kings to a 30-42 record assuring the first losing season since I have become a Kings fan. Kings are back to the 9th position on the lottery race and it finally looks like everyone is down with that but the "coach" who is still fighting the windmills while even the towel boy has quit on him. Kings are getting ready for a back to back vs. Mavs and @ Denver and after that everything should be taken care off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, magic number is 6 for the Kings to go fishing. Any combination of Clippers wins and Kings losses that equals to 6 would clinch it. Considering the remaining schedules of both teams the earliest possible day would be the 8th of April. Considering the opponents that Clippers are playing - it will take longer than this. Either way - it can't come soon enough. Someone has got to put us out of this misery for good. We suffered enough.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Until that happens we won't see the Kings playing more because Muss will not give up despite the fact that that everyone else around him has and that includes most of the players. He still think that 5-6 more wins could help him keep the job. I don't think that he is playing the veterans to showcase them for potential trades because if that is the case - we are screwed considering how they are performing. I mean - if You don't let the kids play now - when will You ? Muss is wasting our time and nerves Even Don Quixote gave up eventually.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This makes smooth transition to the "achievements" that Muss accomplished as a head clown, I mean head coach of the Kings:
He wanted a defensive minded team. Currently, we allow 6 more pts than we did last year with the offensive minded coach. Also the opponents FG percentage is up.
Offensively - I will not make any comparisons because it would be an insult to RA and the most amazing offense known to me.
Discipline went to hell when he was caught DUI.
He never had credibility to begin with.
His people skills seem to be defficient considering his non existant relationship with the players
His intention of developing young players never happened. Kevin's development has to be shared with RA. Anyone else never got the consistent chance.
His goal - the playoffs is about to fail and for that matter - I don't think that Muss as a head coach will ever get there.
In conclusion - I have to apologize to all the clowns that I insulted by comparing them to Muss.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mavs and Kings are 2 franchises that have been rising into the elite at the same time where Kings owned Mavs like You own Your underwear. To be more specific Chris Webber and the Kings owned Mavs big time. An injury, couple bad trades, FA signings and money saving moves later - Mavs are better than ever and we are not worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence. The talent drop off that we have suffered in th last 3 years (since Vlade left) has been immense and it will take much more than a draft pick to get us out of there. Right now - I would even settle for a plan but it doesn't look like people in charge have one. All we can do right now is hope that someone other than the Mavs win it all.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a fan - You might have hard time accepting the concepts of lins and wosses or still pretend how much You actually love this team. You take out Kevin Martin and there is actually nothing to love. Sure, You love the Kings and You might always love them, but not this team, not this group of players, not this coach. No one is that masochistical. When You are a die hard Kings fan and Kings are playing Lakers and You are doing Your nails and You are not Mike Bibby - You are perfect example of a fan that has fallen into apathy and has given up on this team. Nothing wrong with that because it doesn't need much to get excited again. Another coach, couple new players that care, some good games, some wins and that depressing apathy will be gone much faster than it came. All of us would love to see us being good like in 2002 or 2003 as soon as possible but that is just way too unrealistic at least for couple more years. However, it has got to be possible for something that can be done to bring back the excitement that was the staple of everything that was good about the Kings in their glory time
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coach's corner sponsored tonight by Steve Wonder, Andrea Bochelli and Homer. I have seen people with more excitement going to stand in front of firing squad. The team is dead, Muss is tuned out and Titanic is going down. His defensive scheme worked out great keeping Lakers to only 62% from the field. At one point he had Salmons on Brown
. With 20 pts down and 3 minutes to go he still had bunch of starters in the game obviously hoping for 3 consecutive 7pt plays which would have potentially given us a lead providing the 3 consecutive stops which we all know - Kings defense can't provide playing against the middle schoolers. Haven't we seen enough already ?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I have never before care less about a loss to the Lakers. Same goes for the Kings. We did not show any effort to win the self proclaimed "must win" game by coach and the players. Lakers shot 62%, outrebounded us by 7, had 34 assists and scored 126 points. We just stood there and watched. In any other occasion - this would be depresting but these days a woss is a woss and we will take them wherever we can get them

AWARD TIME
In a toughest competition ever for this prestige trophy which included 2 players that wen perfect from the field, a former King who was continuing this season tradition started by Wallace and Hart, a guy who played 2 games on the same day and a guy whose name is connected to an award that is totally opposite to this one - I had to give it to Mo Evans. 21pt (7-8), 4 rb. A nearly perfect game.
LW-VC award went to - SAR who sucked but at least tried something.
JH-KT award went again to Mike Bibby who brought the word pathetic to another level
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mavs are next as we have to prepare ourselves for another woss. Mavs just got killed by the Suns who shot 65%. That made AJ angry so Mavs will come out ready. They have the best record in the league and they just signed Kevin Willis
. Mo Taylor apparently wasn't availible. Dirk hurt his foot and his status is uncertain but they really dont' even need Dirk to beat us. On the other hand - Kings might get fired up and put a game together like they did against the Suns. It is highly unlikely but possible. Mavs have won 9 more game on the road than we have at home.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bibby - I bought a bottle of champagne for the day that he is gone.
Ron - any more guarantees ?
Kevin - just stay healthy
Brad - looks older and slower even though - it seems impossible
SAR - already used to early vacations
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
rest - mateen
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss- kool aid flavor of the night - baseball bat made out of steel.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't help but show some hate for the Mavs despite them obviously being the best team in the league right now. They have a coach and a superstar and great role players and good chemistry. TDM award will go to Harris. The other 2 awards are reserved for the Kings unless DG gets more playing time. Hard to pick anything but a woss
