Hall of Famer
Only 10 days till we play Sixers;)

On December 18th 2003 Kings beat Hornets 101-90 to improve to 17-6 for the season. It was of the few games that I was able to attend in person. Kings played on another level and easily disposed a solid Hornets team. It was a fun game to watch. Especially, the way that Brad played in that game was very impressive. Brad lead the Kings with 21/14/9/4 blocks missing a tripple double only because Pedja couldn't hit an open shot all night. Bibby had 19/3/3, Pedja had 17/4/3/3st but shot poorly and cost Brad a tripple double. DC had 10/6/6 and Vlade had 10/5/5. Bobby had a great night with 18/1/2/3st off the bench. I also remember Hornets fans making fun of David Wesley who couldn't hit a shot to save his life. Good old times.

"We played well the first half and they missed a ton of shots in the first half," Sacramento coach Rick Adelman said. "We played well on offense the whole game."

Former Hornet Brad Miller led Sacramento, with 14 of his 21 points coming in the second half. Miller made 8-of-10 shots and just missed his third triple-double of the season with 14 rebounds, nine assists and four blocks.

"I was just letting things come to me," Miller said. "What's great about this team is that somebody gets it going, doing something at some point. I never worry about getting numbers. Everything just comes and you keep fighting."

After losing yet another home game against a very good team Kings dropped to 10-12 which is good enough for a place in the middle of the pack fighting for a PO spot and first round elimination. Kings are 3-7 in the last 10 games which clearly shows a negative trend. After the Dallas game the schedule gets fairly kind if that is even possible and it is a good opportunity fot us to consolidate a bit. Wizards at home on TNT and then the 2nd part of the back to back against Nuggets who might be shorthanded. Then after Cristmas we play Sixers - the worst team in the universe. We finish that Year with another back to back playing Clippers which we own and the Warriors but this time at home. We need some momentum because the January schedule looks nasty.

Watching Mike Bibby play basketball feels these days just like watching Pedja play last season before he finally got traded which was way too late BTW. It is like a "Space Jam" movie. So if any alians are reading this - please give us the old Mike back. Maybe we can send Bugs Bunny and co to rescue him. Before the season many people were thinking of Mike Bibby as an all start player. Only way for him to make the All Star game is if he takes a Chinese citizenship. The worst part is that he is killing his trade value and that hurt us the most. If he continues to suck this bad he might become a "flexible" piece himself. Even if this sucking causes him not to opt out - we lose. Come on Mike - do something.

AI is still on the market and who knows how long this will go on. At least he is not required to practice. Sixers are not in the rush becuse they are on their way into a good position to get Oden. The rest of the league is playing it safe too. How does this affect us ? It will if he ends up in the Western conference. The whole talk and discussion is a distraction and while the players say that it doesn't matter and that it is part of the business - they are stil people with egos and feelings etc. I am also sick and tired listening to all the "experts" talk about it all the time. Personally, I know several euroleague teams that wouldn't mind having Iverson on their roster but then again - they practice all the time.

Nice brawl at MSG. That was the most exciting thing that Knicks fans have seen in years. Let's hope that some Nuggets get - let's say - 5 game suspension. We need anything we can get even though we are not taking advantages out of such situation. Looks like Ron wasn't involved. Hopefully, he won't get inspired either. It is never a good thing when something like this happenes but watching it - I was wondering weather that mght be something that Kings need. We need something that wakes us up. Something that will counter this lethargy that seams to be well spread in the Kings locker room. Now starting a fight might be a little extreme but desperate situationse require ...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't watch the game live but I kinda watched the game on tape in the "fast forward" mode and what I saw was the Kings playing the Suns game. Even when we were ahead in the beginning it was pretty cleear that Suns would eventually catch up. When we lost Kevin - we were unable to keep up and made some dumb decisions at the end. We are just not in their league right now. Even the fact that they played the 5 game in 7 nights didn't help much at the end because they have enough talent to cope.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM - no winner tonight. Suns played 8 guys and none of them is a real scrub. At least Burke didn't get his usual 5 minutes to det his firs career tripple double
LW-VC goes to Mike Bibby who ia playing "well" enough to give himself a chance to win this award every night. Honorable mention in this category - Brad Miller
JHA award went to Cisco who did nothing in 19 minutes. I actually couldn't believe that he played 19 minutes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mavs are next but this time at ARCO and not on national television. They are playing good basletball and their road record is better than our home record. It will be a challenge and if Kevin doesn't play - a mission impossible. King are just due for a good all around game and whatever is our best at the moment we will need it. I just hope that we don't let Howard score 15+ pts in the first quarter again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - even Iverson would be envious
Brad - stop sucking man !
Ron - Horrible, offensively these days
Kevin - of course:o
SAR - much better these days
------------------------------------------------------------------------
KT - double double off the bench. We should make that permanent.
Salmons - one of our beest players hence the 10-12 record.
rest - Mateen would be insulted.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - tried the less radical small version and it worked for a while but beating Suns playing their game is hard.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mavs are really good. We had no answer for Dirk or Howard last time. Dampier might pull Shaq. We all hate George. Pretty much same old. Harris might win back to back TDM. Bibby has a best chance to win a back to back LW-VC award. We need a win but we can't count on it these days. Maybe we will be surprised.

What does LW-VC and JHA stand for?

LWVC=Luke Walton Vacum Award which stems from when Kenny Thomas absolutely obliterated him in OT of the Kings comeback over the Lakers. JHA stands for the Jason Hart award... Which pretty much speaks for itself.

if it won't be too big an inconvenience for slim, please say what TDM stands for...I've been hesitant to ask for fear of inviting abuse...justifiably so, I think.

I believe that is the Tony Delk Memorial award given to the scrub who comes out of nowhere to kick our *** every game -- so named after TD dropped 53pts on us back in 2001 I think it was, despite career averages of less than 10ppg.

It's almost time for a stickied thread that serves as a glossary for all of those acronyms people use around here....just a thought.

That's precisely what it stands for, and what it was named in "honor" of.

The fact that, AFAIK, Delk is playing overseas this year only adds emphasis.

Thanks, I appreciate it...maybe piksi could just attach a glossary with his highly readable game posts...lol

TDM award

On the TDM watch for Matt Barnes.

Against the Kings 13-22 shooting, 6-9 from 3.
Against Houston 2-6 shooting, 1-4 from 3.
Against Phoenix 3-9 shooting, 1-4 from 3.

mavs have too many players that can penetrate. there will be alot of open threes tonight. like last time.

Gameplan... Leave the three point shooters open, open up the paint, rotate unecessarily and dribble the ball for 20 seconds on offense. Alrigth, Kings on 3! ONE TWO THREE KINGS!

Unless your name is Mike Bibby, then you can take all the running jumpers and threes you want, especially if there is 20 seconds on the shot clock!

If I'm the Mavs coach, here's my defensive game plan:

Give Artest tons of room. Dare him to shoot. Even if he hits a few, he'll eventually just start chukkin'.
Face guard Bibby and he'll force up covered shots. He can't penetrate and shoot.
Face guard Martin and don't leave. He'll quit on his own.
Double down on SAR. He'll give a few TOs and the team will avoid him after that.

I don't like our chances without Martin. :(

If we try to run with this team we're dead.

Martin is great at two things: running and wide-open shots.

I think we actually might be better matched up with Salmons at the 2 tonight ... but being a man down on the roster hurts.

JT, Harris and Howard is going to be tough enough with Bibby out there. Martin isn't a really great defender and takes a few too many chances for a team like this.

We just don't match up well with this team. Not at all.

We're going to miss his offense and his ability to spread the floor. Remember, Dallas is an excellent defensive team. We are a better team with Martin than we are without, as he is actually a pretty good perimeter defender.

Though, like it was said before by someone else, even with Martin I don't like our chances.
