HEY IMMA LET YOU FINISH BUT CARL LANDRY IS THE BIGGEST BLACK HOLE OF ALL TIME,OF ALL TIME!!!

How dare you insult KT like that!?!?

At least KT rebounded and tried on defense

That's true. Kenny Thomas used to be a double double man and the KG stopper back in his day. Always a professional too. I was surprised when we waived him last year.

Guys, think about this too. You think Westphal would put in some shooters in there to spread the floor, he had Carl Landry at the three point line and I doubt he was expecting that pass. You can't really fault the guy, yes he made a awful pass and left his feet, but he shouldn't of even been put in that position in the first place, he wasn't supposed to be in.

yes I agree. Westphal f*cked up his perfect lineup.

Why did Donte, after a great first half, get his minutes given to Cisco, Omri, and Pooh in the second half?

Omri came in off the bench to get some limited minutes and give Donte some rest. That's not unusual. Pooh subbed in for Beno so that's not really a factor. The curious decision was to keep Donte out of the game and instead insert Garcia in the fourth quarter. I think Westphal was just playing the matchups at that point. He had Greene matching up with Caron and Dallas was running a smaller lineup with Barea, Kidd, and Terry in the fourth. Probably he wanted to put Greene back in at some point but when Garcia got hot and we started to build a lead it wouldn't have made sense to yank Garcia at that point.

No defense from me on Landry though. He didn't have it today and should have been subbed out earlier.

"They had three guards in, so I put in someone more mobile than Donte" - Westphal

So thats the secret!? You think it will work if we put 5 guards in such as Nellyball so we will be more mobile than any other team in the league? They will be forced to counter us by pulling all of their bigs.

what the hell?? thats like some kind of strawman basketball logic

It's a shame he didn't stick to with what was working. Yes, Donte cooled off, but can you imagine what he is thinking when he missed a couple of shots in the beginning of the third?

Well more important than having Greene in there was Jason Thompson. I'd rather have Casspi in the corner, at the end, for spacing and because Casspi is surprisingly clutch (Israeli sniper). But not having JT in there was truly inexplicable.

btw this is why I call him the Israeli sniper: http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2009/10/casspi-wasnt-a-sniper/

Yeah, Casspi has been known for hitting some big shots last year. It would of been nice to put in JT, but I would of gone with Beno, Reke, Donte, Casspi & Cousins. Three shooters and Tyreke just in case they collapse.

Tonight proved beyond any doubt to me that the less Landry and Dalembert play, the better. Both have expiring contracts which makes them prime trade-bait. I hope they can move the two of them for a high caliber shooter that isn't a ballhog.

It is when Evans could have played point, had Garcia at the 2 with Donte at the 3 instead of Evans with Pooh and Garcia.

I'm with you on that one. I've been calling for that lineup all year. For whatever reason Westphal has shown that he wants a smaller guard next to Tyreke. Beno and Tyreke played well off each other tonight though and I thought Jeter was decent when he was in there. Got the ball up the court quickly, made some good decisions with the ball. So the decision to stick with them made sense to me as I was watching the game. I guess what matters in the end is who got the win, so you're basically right. Greene was our second best player tonight and he got iced. That shouldn't happen.

I think I am finally seeing that Westphal's rotations are solely based on match-ups. It doesn't matter who is playing the best or who the best players are. If he perceives some kind of ideal match up position for position he will use that lineup. With the exception of Evan's always playing, this seems to be true. My first thought when he said they had three guards, so Greene had to come out was if any other coach would take out their current best player for a LITTLE more mobility. Reducing the size of the lineup in order to match up speed wise? Whenever anyone talks about the current champs and why they are so hard to beat one of the main factors is their size. They are so big they overwhelm everyone eventually. Yet we go the opposite route. Sigh. Wish I could grasp what is going on with the lineups. Too much randomness for me.

I don't know about Dalembert. But I'm done with Landry. And I hope after tonight's performance that Westphal is done with him in the fourth quarter. You just can't play him against tall opposing lineups. Period. He can't play outside. He can't dribble and pull up for a jump shot, can't make a pass off the dribble, can't make a pass, period. There was one play tonight where he made a "pass" and I thought to myself: the guy literally is uncomfortable passing the ball. He does one thing: post up. And if he's got a tall lineup against him, he can't do that.

i say keep dalembert. I really like him as a sub for cousins because even if hes not doing so good on shotblocking he can still sometimes make the occasional shot and rebound.landry can be useful if westfail could just figure out how to play him effectively. There was a reason he a leading sixth man candidate while on the rockets westfail.

Landry guarding Dirk is a good match up. For Dirk.

How I wish a reporter would have responded with a remark like that after Westphal said they needed Greene out for someone faster to match up better with the guards... Would have been good to ask him why he thought Landry was the best man to guard Dirk.

Eh. Dally is just being utilized poorly. He's there for shotblocking and rebounding. Thats it. If you expect to use him as an offensive option you're going to disappointed.

Landry's expiring is for only 3 mil. I think we'd have better luck offering him to a playoff team for a late pick.

Not much Landry could had done in that last play. Time was winding down, DMC throws a pass which gets deflected, Landry recovers only to find the mav's team swarming him in the corner. Probably shouldve just threw it up though. Cousins shouldve probably just went for the jump shot after Reke was blocked off by Dirk

Swarming him in the corner? He blew past Dirk and RAN into their post players under the basket. He had an open shot after he moved past Dirk.

In that particular area of the court yes. When the pass was deflected all eyes were on the ball, when Landry recovered the ball he had his man tailing him, Dirk coming at him, and the post players between him and the basket. He shouldve just thrown it up, but i dont think he couldve done much better

Maybe not spot up for a side 3 that he wouldn't and shouldn't take anyways? If someone else was going inside, then a 3 point shooter should have been in instead of him.
