mateen cleeves

i mean, i always knew he was bad cause he would never play when he was on the kings but i didnt know HOW bad he sucked...

i was watching him yesterday(i guess ridnour got hurt?) and he was just awful... i mean, it looks as if its me playing out there- no joke-(not that i suck, but as if i was- with my skills- playing out there with pros). he just runs right and throws the ball at the glass.... pathetic.... now i know why when a player doesnt play or is innefective you guys stamp them the title of "mateen" status:D

Guess I'm just old-fashioned. The guy did something only about 1% of all high school athletes are able to do - he actually made it into the NBA. I think he deserves a modicum of respect for that, at least.

I don't think he made the transition from college to the NBA very well, but he's not the first and he won't be the last.

He was a team player; he was always enthusiastic, even when his role was nothing more than waving the towel.

I don't really see the need to bash him...

Having said all that, however, I do agree with SIR HENRY in that I wasn't unhappy to see him leave.

I always liked Mateen. At least when he was here he was the only player that would be on the court before warmups shooting and practicing. Granted he may not have NBA skills but as VF said only a small percentage of people do.

I wish some of our other players had his work ethic.

He's a little like Khalid El-Amin for lack of a better example. Stocky, short, underathletic overachiever in college. Game and stature doesn't translate well in the NBA.

yet we still lost to them...... after the raptors game im almost scared senseless to see them play the hawks....

Hawks are indeed scrappy, young, and athletic.

Just like the Bobcats coming up.

I will be cheering for the Kings to defeat the Bobcats, but I'll also be cheering Gerald Wallace.

Me too. Along with Jumaine Jones. But don't be surprised if Gee-Wall has an off night (which I doubt), he's had 2 or 3 bad games after having nice ones before. Hasn't since his return from injury though.
