well said... if he keeps this up he will be up for the MVP... Garnett and others can put up numbers but the way Lebron is carrying his team is unbelieveable and his numbers are MJ numbers.... This is crazy...Bricklayer said:The kid is just amazing. He's 19. 19. He's better than Kobe at 19. Better than McGrady at 19. Better than KG at 19. Better than perhaps anyone* EVER at 19 (I'll put an asterisk there for a guy like Moses Malone). Who knows how he compares to MJ at 19. I am not a Lebron jocker -- if he was 29 rather than 19 he'd be a great player, but not a revoltionary one. But at 19 he is out there leading his team in every conceivable fashion. He looks like the smartest, most mature, most physically gifted guy on the floor. And you're not susposed to do that or be that at 19.
I'm getting well ahead of myself here, but forget another MJ. Question is who is going to be the next Lebron. That's how high I think this guy's ceiling is if he can keep his head on, avoid serious injuries, and get a solid core around him.Evenstar said:i didn't see the game tonight, but i've seen enough of lebron to just go WOW. he is AMAZING. this guy is freaking my age, i can't believe he's not only good enough to be in the NBA with the best players in the WORLD, and he's one of the best!!!! it's like hmmm and what have i done with my life........
forget kobe as the next MJ, it could easily be lebron ( if there is such thing as another MJ )
lebron for MVP
you are way ahead of yourself..... because as kings fans we should all be aware of what happens during the regular season doesnt alway translate into the playoffs, lets also not forget about injuries... assuming that lebron ever gets to the playoffs and is never seriously injured carrying the cavs.4cwebb said:I'm getting well ahead of myself here, but forget another MJ. Lebron has plenty of passing skills. I see him as a Magic/Jordan tweener.. for now at least. Plenty of players were called the next MJ at one point we'll see how he pans out.Double-K said:one thing I want to point out is, not only the 43 points scoring ability, but the fact that he control the game really well........not really force himself that much like Kobe and such score-first guys...........he's like Magic Johnson with better scoring skill but less passing skill......(which I think Lebron will achieve that level sooner or later)
Agreed --- hence the qualifiers, which were all pretty hefty.AriesMar27 said:you are way ahead of yourself..... because as kings fans we should all be aware of what happens during the regular season doesnt alway translate into the playoffs, lets also not forget about injuries... assuming that lebron ever gets to the playoffs and is never seriously injured carrying the cavs.
They don't make me laugh, but I tire of them easily. People are always concerned with finding the next "(insert NBA icon's name here)" instead of appreciating what certain players can do.Gargamel said:He has bits and pieces of the game that Magic had even as a rook. He's a great young player, but the MJ/Magic comparisons make me laugh.
Among the best perimeter players in the NBA, LeBron is in fact nearly dead last in keeping his man from scoring on him. Guys like Bowen, AK, Wade, and Kobe this season have kept their man to eFG%'s of between 38% and 42%. This year LeBron's man has looked like an All Star, scoring at an eFG of 53% and a PER of nearly 19 (http://www.82games.com/04CLE6C.HTM). Just horrible.living legend said:Actually Lebron is one of the main reasons why Cleveland has had a significant improvement in defense this year.. Cavs leads the league in points allowed and their opponent field gold percentage is among the tops in the league. I think its preety safe to say Lebron is the most rounded player in the L not named KG.. By year's end, it wouldn't surprise me that it's a definite conclusion that he is.
But it's not cool to play defense. Everyone knows that...KA_2 said:Stunning, this kid is the future of the NBA. He could be better than Kobe, maybe by a lot.
But man his defense is pourous, he needs to work on it a lot.
Good number work. Gives a measure of perspective regarding his defense. Watching him, you wouldn't really single him and his defense out, since he plays good team defense. But his man defense obviously needs to improve.KA_2 said:Among the best perimeter players in the NBA, LeBron is in fact nearly dead last in keeping his man from scoring on him. He needs a lot of work defensively. But man, offensively, he's been the best perimeter player in the NBA so far this season, next to Wade and Kobe (Wade's been having a hell of a year, too). We'll see if it lasts, it would be great fun to watch if he can keep it up.
But Magic was at least an above average defender, LeBron's not even average at this point. And offensively, Magic was the greatest perimeter player of all time next to Jordan. Can LeBron do that? Hardly a certainty at this point.Kev.in said:Magic was never a very good defender, but he was still one of the all-time greats. It'd be ideal if LeBron turned into a capable defender that could sometimes play stifling defense, but I think the more realistic scenario is for him to refine his ability as a defensive playmaker. Maybe something like what Allen Iverson has become. AI isn't a particularly good defender, but he plays the passing lanes and uses his quickness to get lots of steals. If you're not going to be able to stop someone you can at least pick his pocket a few times.
Eh, I'm not so sure about that. I think Wade would be doing just about as well as he is now. The impact Shaq's game has on players is vastly overrated IMO. He has huge impact on spot up shooters, but not great perimeter players. Great perimeter players like Wade or Kobe or anyone else will produce just about as well with or without Shaq. It may be harder to do so, but they're so talented that they'll still do so.Superman said:People are also forgetting that Dwayne Wade has the luxury of playing alongside Shaq in Miami. He has a lot more room to operate than James.
