Why is this the first we've heard of it? I bet it's nothing we already don't know.
 
Blech.. I will tune in because it's Kings news, but it's probably stuff we already know. It says "Major details in the @SacramentoKings saga as we wait for a decision by the Maloofs.".. Meaning it's probably something we already know :)

I still think it's somethign nwe already know.. Nothing really gets by any of us here that are constantly combing the web for updated news.

It sounds like the Maloofs have been in meetings all night in Las Vegas. My bet is that some info leaked out of that and we'll know if they are going to file or not on Monday.
 
Maloofs are holding and riding this media circus as long as they can... good or bad publicity, its still publicity... the attention focuses on their decision, making them look powerful and at the sametime the world "awaits" their decision when in fact its evident where this will go

I wonder what major news will come up... This saga trully kept me going back and forth for info the last few days.

You wanna know the tipoff? The idea that if the Maloofs decide to stay it will be because of loyalty to the fans. Sorry, boys, you've shown your true colors already, and that's not them.

So we've got a single source telling us that:
1) The Maloofs haven't decided, but if they stay it's really because they like us! They really like us!
2) The Maloofs haven't met with Burkle despite multiple reports that they have.
3) Some of the counties at the JPA meeting aren't fully on board after one meeting.

One source with intimate knowledge of both the Maloofs' personal schedule and their deepest feelings for the fans of Sacramento, AND the intimate workings of the JPA meeting? Really?
 
Ryan knew he was being used by the Maloofs with this "inside" information, yet he went with it anyways. Shame on him. He stooped to Crandell level on this one.
 
*sigh* Local politicians and news "reporters" alike crumbling under the hype and pressure of this issue and blowing their loads in pursuit of the spotlight, hoping it'll be their big break. At the very least, I thought this guy Yamamoto (and News10 in general) was above this.
 
Lame. Not only would that not be major news but it isn't breaking either. We already heard about some leaders from surrounding counties making it clear they weren't going to be putting any money into an arena. I'm glad i fell asleep and didn't see this report now.

EDIT: I just watched it. I love the part about how if the Maloofs come back it will be because of the fans. Because if you come back, it has nothing to do with the fact the NBA told you to stay and you know you won't get enough yes votes, right?

Sounds like maybe they know they're coming back and are already starting to kiss the fan's butts.

When they end up back in sac, they had best-better-not use that line at all. It is extremely condescending, patronizing, and insulting to fans. This is not the bridge to try to cross to come back. That might be obvious to most, but the Maloofs better understand that.
 
It's pretty tough to decide what you go with as a story and what you should pass on. Pretty much anyone coming up as a news source in this saga has a horse in this race. So reporters have to be armed with that in mind that they are probably being used in one way or another. But I have to agree that Crandell and Yamamoto are both guilty of hyping news as major when in fact it is more press release stuff. They can pay the hype game to gain viewers, but they risk damage to their own reputation if they play that card a bit too hard. In these cases Crandell got sucked into airing an arena plan that was getting panned by KJ and ICON. And Yamamoto was nothing more than a guy holding the microphone while MS&E was spouting PR spin. The only thing MAJOR was the size of you guys being TOOLS for your sources.

The Maloofs may have decided not to apply for reloation and decided it in their 48 hour window. That doesn't mean they have to have a press conference. Maybe we are OK for now. I personally cannot envision them, at this particular moment of heat, picking up a microphone and announcing to Sacramento that they decided not to file when their stance has always publically been "we are seeking advice." Scrape aside the emotional flares if you can.
