stop the tease !
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
On December 4th 2001 Kings beat Sixers 94-84 to improve to 14-5 for the season. The game wasn't pretty but Kings were able to once again survive the absence of Webber and DC. The game itself was remembered as the shooting duel between Bobby (7-25) and AI (9-30) with the difference that the Kings team had other players who actually played well. Pedja lead Kings with 20/12/3/1/, Bibby had 18/5/6/1, Bobby had 16/6/4, Vlade had 11/6/3/1 and Scott had 6/13/1/7bl/2. Bench was solid even considering that Bobby abd Scot started the game. Hedo was superb with 15/3/3/1 and Mateen:eek: was perfect from the field for scoring 4 pts in 7 minutes.

Jackson helped limit Iverson to 24 points on 9-of-30 shooting. He was particularly effective in the second half, when Iverson was just 3-of-12
and the 76ers surrendered the lead.
"The guy is extremely athletic and knows how to get to the basket and draw fouls and make baskets," Jackson said. "My teammates did a great job with me and having my back. I just had to come out and contain him and make him work hard."

Jackson also found the time to launch 25 shots, making just seven.

"We told him to ice his right arm down," joked Kings coach Rick Adelman. "I thought maybe him and Allen had something going there. ... I think he was just really revved up and ready to go and emotions took over a lot of the time."

"(Jackson) was terrific defensively on Iverson. So was Mike," Adelman said. "They really made him work. That's all you can do with that guy. That's a tough job."

Coleman was ejected for arguing with 1:07 remaining.

Kings with a 2 game losing streak on a quick and very unsuccessful Texas trip - still holding 8-7 record which is good enough for the middle (mediocrity) of the Western Conference. Kings will have to try hard to stop the free fall (gravity is a witch when You are not in control) in the last two games on this 5 games tough stretch where we are currently 1-2 (expected). With Magic and Suns coming up - we desperately need to beat at least one of them and it won't be easy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who are we ? What is our identity ? I have no clue either other that we are still located in Sacramento. When You go trough such radical changes it is a normal consequence that You would lose the identity as a team. It takes time to define Yourself as a team again but I there isn't a real plan (and I sure as hell don't see one) it will never happen and it will result in sucking and losing a lot. I am even not sure what we can be. We are too slow for "run and gun", we are too short to be a "really good half court offense" team. We have Mike Bibby so we can't be a great defensive team either. At this point in time - we will have to wait this one out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coach isn't helping much either at the moment. I don't know what is going on but the "rotation" makes no sense to me. All different starting lineups, bringing players slowly from injuries, benching, overplaying, not calling plays, having no strategy - You can only get away with that if You have a great team that is kinda running itself and is winning a lot. You can't do that with a mediocre, midget group of guys who asre so acustomed to losing that it doesn't take much to slip. Wake up man!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nice to see Brad Miller actually contributing again. I am not sure whether he is too tall for the starting lineup or KT and SAR are eplaying so superb (there might be a parallel universe out there- You never know) but we need him to playe there because he is actually 6'11 tall and even with a negative value on his vertical leap he is still taller than the rest of the hobbits. Hopefully, Brad will regain his shooting touch soon because we can really use that too. He needs to start and he needs to start now.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, looks like Ron is getting frustrated. His CD only sold 343 copies in the first week. Mussleman both 250 of them. His clothes suck too. Noone would want to be caught dead wearing them. So all that is left is Basketball where Ron is the best there is but only in Ron's mind. Ron will never realize/accept that he isn't ofensively as good as Kobe, TMac, Lebron etc. Ron will also never stop giving useless and stupid comments. Now, we will continue to disregard it simply because we need him and we want to stay sane but I am beginning to wonder whether the coach and the player can do the same in the long run. The ticking bomb is making me nervous - but that just might be me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hate being teased. Not in my nature. Unfortunately, in the last 8 years or so that is all the Kings really were - on big tease. I am kinda getting tired of it. In the past - there was at least hope that the tease may turn into something more but now seasm like we are even happy to be able to get teased. For example, last night - there was no doubt on my mind that we will lose the game - not for a second. Kings played well enough to tease us into the last minute of the game but when all was said and done - we ended up with nothing as we usually do. Some of You will probably look for positive things to hold on to it, or create some kind of "parallel universe" where thing might still turn to be fine. Nothing wrong with either one but it doesn't change the fact that all of it is just a tease because when all is said and done - we usualy stand there with nothing to show for. Almost winning is a euphemism for losing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
So Kings gave Spurs a good battle but as so many times anded up short. We played poor second quarter and tried to come back late and we did but then we played stupid in the last minute. Spurs didn't play well and had only 3 players in double figures. All stats were favoring us except the fact that Spurs made 11-22 threes mostly because ther were WIDE OPEN. Maybe we can build on this performance but that remains to be seen
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM award went to Bruce "almighty" Bowen who almost had a career game. The performance was sponsored by Kings perimeter defense.
LW - VC award went to Brent Barry and it is my specialy pleasure to give it to him with the hope that he can keep it up.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Magic are next and they are the best team in the East et the moment. They are currently 3-0 on the 6 game road trip playing Clippers tonight which should make them tired for the game on Monday night. It would be their 4 game in 5 nights. We need to take advantage of that because if the game is close - we will be in trouble. Magic are great defensively, they are too tall for us and their bench is the best in the league. Their back court is not great and if we can get some of their bigs in foul trouble we can win this game. If their big man han play their usual minutes we will have a long night. It will be painful to watch our midgets guardnig Howard. Very painful.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - come on man - You sucked enough already
Kevin - we need You in the attack mode
Ron - get well soon so You can shut up and play
Brad - good luck man - You will need it
SAR - oh boy
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
KT - main candidate for another JHA
Salmons - very nice
Corliss - will get murdered on the center position
Price - inconsistant
Cisco - what can I say ...
rest mateen
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - I wonder what RA is doing these days ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Magic are very good and when they figure out how to maximize their bigs they can get scary. Their bench is immpressive. They finish games with Nelson/Hill/Ariza/Milicic/Howard lineup whenever they can because that is their best defensive lineup. They are very tall, very athletic and can be a real nightmare. We can beat them if we can shoot well. Hope that they are tired. TDM is going to either Darko or Carlos Aroyo. LW-VC award will go to Hedo hopefully or to one of our "midgets". We really need this game.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can someone, anyone please beat Lakers !

Vintage piksi...as always.

And then this:

Muss - I wonder what RA is doing these days ?
I wonder that, too. I can't help but picture him sitting at home in the Barcolounger, beer in hand, as he watches the Kings and thanks his lucky stars he's not going to have to face the media...

Another nice intro, piksi.

I hope that sooner or later he gets another job in the NBA. The guy is class and his teams always play attractive basketball

You guys are judging the whole 8 years and 500+ wins on the first 35 games of the last season. Way to go.
and youre judging muss on the first 15 games of this year with a dwarf frontline???.. i mean i see your point, i really do, but come on man give muss at least some time before you go crying on your knees for adelman to come back

did we specifically write adelman coached "loser" basketball for 8 years?
no...

that is why I and all of us are saying adelman was playing "loser" basketball in the beginning of last season as well since everyone is trashing musselman as if adelman was ideal last year. Adelman got lucky Artest came to Sacramento or else he would have an even more uglier exit.

Yes such an ugly exit -- on the back of the most successful run in franchise hsitory. Grass ain't always greener. And quite specifically in this case. The only question being if its actually as dead and yellow as the dry weeds which cover the floor of the Sacramento valley.

In any case, Artest IS here. Been here the whole year for Muss. And yet he's not getting the same results that Rick did after Artest arrived. And that's even with a suped up Kevin (although I have noted before the loss of the extra impact guy in Bonzi). There are no reinforcements for Muss -- he already has the reinforcements on the roster. Now he's got to figure out how the hell he wants the team to play, develop a plan, and stick to it.

at the same time i am not praising musselman in any way, shape, or form either
my point in the beginning was adelmans run last season, before artest came
you never know what might happen with musselmans team either
maybe a trade will go down that will revitalize this team towards the positive side, or maybe they will just start to click
but, judging the season based on what? 15 games? ....kinda unfair, dont ya think?
injuries have plagued us, different starting lineups at times, and at the same time he is trying to incorporate everybody into playing team ball.
Sure, he has been making odd moves and adjustments, but you try working with our depleted roster.
IMO, he should just sit bibby down for 5-6 games and let him rest that wrist. Bibby was playing unbelievably on the offensive end during the pre-season. Yes, its pre-season, but if he shot that way, it wouldnt be that far off during the regular season. After that wrist injury, everything went downhill from there.

Anyways, it takes time to learn your team inside out and injuries have certainly not helped muss one bit.

Muss said 50 games. I'll give him that. But this team better be playing championship level basketball at that point or some different players that compliment his game plan (defense) better be brought in.

Better be doing WHAT???

I'll give him 40, and to just prove that we have a shot at something more than the 8th seed. Otherwise, the trading deadline will be coming up, and it will be time to wake Geoff from hibernation -- preferably if that is the case to actually set us up for a rebuild.

Ok I think the key for us tommorrow is our defence. We need to zone the crap out of the Magic. They have no real shooters. Limit thier bigs from getting the ball. If we do that I like our chances.

You don't know what you've got until it's gone.

One thing I never understood about when the Maloofs said they were going in a different direction was whey Adelman was still around.. They changed a lot of the players around but he was still here. Usually when a team "changes direction" the coach is the first to go.

Well the coaching part eventually settled itself out, as usual, but now the next part is the players. I would be completely shocked if this team doesn't make some significant roster adjustments (notwithstanding or excluding core players) in the next year to bring in the guys Muss wants.

Hmm...'set us up for a rebuild'...Artest and Martin probably stay...but one could only begin to fathom what the rest of team might bring our way via trade.

I think some of us might.

It was 11 years ago this month that Mitch led us to victory against the Suns, and an angry Charles Barkley said, "We play a team like that a hundred times, we should beat a team like that a hundred times."

I remember it well, I had just sat through a decade of it.

Still, I can understand those who don't want us to become the Stockton+Malone Jazz of 2005-2020. There's definitely some honor to making the playoffs every single year, but a championship in my lifetime is still on my priority list, and we'll need a rebuild to get there. .535 may get you last place in the playoffs, but it will rarely get you good draft picks, or good free agents who are in search of a ring. It may forestall the rebuild process through a protracted, slo-mo slump, but it never eliminates the need.

The only disagreement, I think, is between those who like peeling the band-aid off slowly, and those who like ripping it off fast.

I never asked for Adelman to be back. That ship has sailed. Don't even see how You made that connection
