could be, but Houston has to be careful here. They are running out of assets, and even if they do get Dwight they still need to have enough let over to get a second star in there. And if they don't, they need enough left over to field a competitive team. If they can pawn Scola off on somebody for a Top 10 pcik, sure. If not then they may need to hold he and Kevin until they see how the Howard pursuit turns out.

If the Kings end up with that 12th pick, there are a number of players we could be looking at, at 12. Terrence Ross is certainly an option, because Phoenix is supposedly in love with him at 13. It's possible that we are trying to jump in front of Phoenix to snag Ross. There has been a bit of chit chat that Petrie is somewhat interested in Waiters. We already know that Petrie is interested in Lillard. Both of those guys are "expected" to be gone slightly before 12, but either one of those guys could slip a few spots and might be there at 12. If Henson doesn't go to Detroit at 9, he could definitely be there at 12.
The key thing is, what else are we getting ? I don't think 12 + 16 is enough. Maybe 12 + 16 and Rockets take Salmons contract. It's a "decent" deal, but not anything Earth shattering.

Lillard and Waiters are LONG gone by then. Absolutely ZERO percent chance either makes it to 12.

Sullinger isn't going top ten at this point. That said anything is technically possible but I'd bet every penny I have to my name that Waiters is gone before 12.

I'd actually take Waiters over the 5-11 picks you just listed, and I wasn't blown away by what he did at Syracuse last year. It would create a massive roster head-ache which would have to be addressed with some trades but as far as NBA talent I think Waiters and T.Jones are the cream of the crop from those 6 listed players.
I'd take Jeremy Lamb and Waiters over Austin Rivers, Henson scares me with his body size/type, and I expect Sullinger to drop to at least 15, but more likely 20+.
Lowry is good but he's not a player of Evans' ilk...If the Kings draft Barnes, they can get by on size, athleticism and power. Of course it's untraditional to have a 2 that can't shoot, but he is so good driving, passing, and performing in the other facets of the game that it makes up for the lack of outside shooting ability. Moreover, starting at least three lottery picks sounds like a good idea to me. In my opinion Fredette should make four instead of starting Thomas at the point...

this is sad considering some here were considering our 5 for dally 14 and 16 and all the bucks had to do is give a #12 and some scraps

With Waiters and Tyreke you would have a brutal one-two punch as far as guys that can take it to the rack at will.

I've heard people say that Waiters is the best rim attacking guard in the draft, and others say that Austin Rivers just has a special knack to get to the rim, but in my opinion, with-out question the best rim-attacking guard in the draft is Tony Wroten.
He's a strong, athletic, big guard who is essentially a left-handed Tyreke with more aggression and better floor vision and passing.
The problem with Wroten is that unlike Waiters and Rivers, his shot is just broken.
But I love what Wroten brings and if he can get even moderately successful with his jump-shot he could be the player that everyone is shocked dropped all the way to the late 1st round, because his ability to get to the rim and finish is elite, and he has by far the best court vision/passing out of Waiters/Rivers/Lamb.

Yeah, you're probably right about Lillard. Portland would have to pass on him twice, and that's not going to happen. Drummond for sure will be gone.
So basically, there are 7 players that have Zero chance of slipping to 12. But after that, it's somewhat of a crapshoot. Taking those 7 guys out of the equation, here would be my list of the guys least likeliest to slip to 12:
1. Dion Waiters - His draft stock seems to be rising because people keep thinking he's a potential Dwayne Wade Jr. Chances of slipping to 12 are very remote

actually, now that I think about it.... The rest are a crapshoot. I think we can effectively rule out 8 players that we'll have no chance at, but it's hard to pencil any other guys as locks not to be there. Henson is probably going to Detroit if Drummond is gone. He might be the only other guy I'd almost rule out, but he could just as easily slip, so it's hard to say.

I would REALLY like to know if people make up all these wild *** trade proposals just to keep from falling asleep or if they have a real purpose in mind. With the players available at the top of the draft, we could do very well by just picking the player who pops up at #5. It's the safest, probably even make the most sense, and might even make our FO look like it has a fully functioning brain.
You don't have to speculate that our team's upper management including owners are looking so bad that players won't come here. Let's not do something that completely reshuffles our players again. I would settle for stability and not another season of trial and error. Let's make a move, see what happens, and then decide on the next course of action.

I think we'd have to include someone with the #5 pick, it still has to match up, salary-wise, right? Even with us being crazy under the cap...doesnt it need to match up by 60% or something like that, even pro-rated? BTW...I definitely think the trade with Houston is very much in play right now more than ever, they are REALLLY pushing to move up to sweeten a deal for Howard...if they don't get us to bite on anything, I see them scoring with Toronto for the #8. Would that be enough to land Howard? Probably not...even if you have #8, one more mid-1st rounder, Scola, future picks...they need another bigger piece.

I wouldn't. This bro-love for Lowry is probably well earned but we already have so many players on our roster that a trade of this sort may exclude the possibility of signing TWill who is a known quantity. It also adds another guard to a team already with one more guard than it can use.

I would guess either Garcia/Whiteside/jimmer would be the peice to go. We are under the cap so we can take on alot more salary and the draft picks count as $0 before the 1st I bealive.

I'm saying that if I were Houston I'd hang up the phone if Petrie were offering the #5 for Lowry and their two #1s. That's almost like the deal that has GS giving us Klay Thompson for moving up two slots.

Provided that MKG isn't on the board I would absolutely make that trade.
I'd like to add in a contract or two going back the other way to Houston, because we're in a roster-squeeze at the moment and I'd like to re-sign T.Williams and JT.
But I'd take Lowry + Taylor (@14) + (T.Jones/Royce White/Ezeli/Wroten/Q.Miller/Moultrie @16) over Barnes/Drummond @5.

Well, it takes Dalembert out of the running, but it puts Houston even closer to getting multiple picks in the top 10 which is what they have been shooting for.

HOU is trying to force ORL's hand on this one. Like I posted earlier lets assume they give us Lowry/12/16 for #5 their next move most likely is going to be to try to package any combo of Scola/K-mart/Patterson for another top 10 and NO might have a hard time saying no to that offer for their #10. HOU is all in at this point since they have been stuck in the middle of the pack for a few years now.

Every time the Rockets add another asset, delusional Laker fans are going to add that to their already ridiculous Gasol trade ideas.
Before this weekend, the trade board is gonna be littered with 'OMG! The Rockets are gonna trade us Lowry, Howard, D-Will, Lebron, Jordan's ghost and 42 1st round picks for Gasol!'
