In honor of the last few games of a miserable season for the Kings, I'm doing a poll to focus on the Kings bright future! What are you looking forward to the most?

The Development of Hawes and Thompson sounds pretty good, but I am really excited about the draft, especially if we get #1

beating the lakers, hope its soon whilst there still at there 'peak'. Its pretty much an all round vote; we couldnt possiably dream of beating the lakers without a solid 09 draft and without the development of shock and hawes

DRAFT .... we have to pick up something real!! Our young players are good and I wanna see their progress but IMO they will not save us without one more GREAT peace. I hope we can get it in June.

The second coming of the Big O for sacramento....

well to be honest... next year what do you guys think will happen to the team?

if hawes and JT both have break out seasons
we draft a really good player
and
fill in some needed roster space via free agency and pics?

a lot of possibilities and a lot of promises are being shown by our two bigs..
but how good can we really be?

dont you agree this team is too talented to be a 16-60+ team?

Yeah, its really puzzling to me... but hey...look at the clippers. Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Chris Kamen, Al Thorton and Zach Randolph... if that doesn't make a team good then what does? However, our problem is that we don't have a leader, just look at our team when Beno plays well, we go on runs against top tier teams. Thats why I say Rubio is who we need in this draft. His passing and unselfishness is God given and it will always be there... the guy could average 8 apg in his rookie season easy with starting minutes. I guarantee we boost up to a 30+ win team next season with just the addition of Rubio. BOOK IT! :D

agree, lets just hope he declares

to further massage rubios ego... wouldnt it be nice to be called KING Rubio

this coming draft Geoff dont go for diamonds in the rough!!! look for RUBIES!!!!

if rubio becomes a king id seriously buy his jersey!!

id love to see a rubio martin combo!

ricky-Martin baby!!!!

I voted 'other' because the 1 day I look forward to is hopefully winning an NBA Championship in my lifetime...hopefully!
Me, too. :D And while I look forward to the draft, that's still an unknown. Of course, the unknown generates a kind of excitement and I think we will get someone good. But I'm really excited to see how much JT and Hawes improve next year. That seems to be realistic at the moment. Combine them with our draft pick and that's even more exciting. :D

I am looking forward to the draft, but I'm thoroughly convinced this franchise is cursed, so I highly doubt we will get the #1 pick even with the highest probability with the worst record.

With the Kings luck they'll end up 4th and in this draft, at the #4 you MIGHT get a decent player to contribute. I was a Lakers fan as a kid growing up in the bay area during the show time years. I want a true bonified star player. The only one in this draft that has that potential is Griffin and maybe......maybe Rubio.

I want a player when discussing the best players in the league in a few years his name is in that conversation. The same way people do now with Lebron, Kobe, Wade and the likes.

Not too excited about the draft...It's a number 1 or nothing kind of draft, and we only have a 25% chance to get that #1 pick. Griffin or bust. Unless Rubio declares that is. But if he does I'm sure we'll end up picking 3rd :p

Hawes and Thompson though....Thats something to be optimistic about. I see a 15/11 PF and a 23/9 C in our future!

There's Gotta be a Horse in there Somewhere.

For those who know the story about a cabin full of Sh-- (Kings season) the epilog of the team could be the title above. Whether the draft or via a trade or a new coach, there is a leader in there somewhere.

Hawes and JT are real keepers and just beginning their development. Kevin will be the 24-25 pts a night for years to come. Noce could be the hard nose starter SF that sets a rugged tone. Cisco is the jet engine off the bench that can do it all.

PG is biggest need. Without a trade a good rookie PG is 2-3 years away.

+ Scoring off the bench. McCants maybe but he is gone. Greene if he learns to shoot, score and defend even a tiny bit.

+ Defense from the big kids. Know/learning rotations and spacing.

+ Hard nose defender off the bench a la Christie/JBarry/BJax

And I think Coach Natt is gone. Too bad, the kids need some stability sometime. A fifth coach in 5 years is tough, really tough. Can Eddie Jordan be the solution (maybe)? Whisenant (doubt it...no player cred)? But an experience head coach for sure.

Summer league in Vegas should be a real bomber party this year with JT, Greene and a couple of first rounders.

I would have picked beating the Lakers, but by the time we become a Conference contender, they won't be the main threat in the conference.

I picked other because I'm undecided betweee the 2010 draft and the 2009 trade deadline. The 2009 draft is going to be anti-climatic once the lottery is held and we know who will enter. No matter who we end up with, the first part of the 2009 season is still going to be a rebuilding season.

New coach, new star, developing young talent and a team learning to play together with new offensive & defensive systems. But, the trade deadline is going to be our best chance of a 2010 FA star, and the final piece will come with the 2010 draft. By then the team should be pretty much built. We should be playoff contenders and no longer able to expect much from the draft unless we get very very lucky.

Yes, by the 2010 draft, the Kings will be "what they are", and it will be up to the new coaching staff and the players to see how far they will go. And, how far they can take us as fans.

To me Noc isn't starter material on a championship caliber team. I think him and Cisco could really come in with energy and hard nosed play off the bench. I believe an athletic SF with good D would be great for this team. With shooters all around him, he wouldn't need to be a great shooter.

Short term: the 09 draft
Long term: '10 offseason, that's probably going to be when we make our final big strike and then try to push for the playoffs.

Other.

I'm looking forward to a time when we have a competent head coach again. The coaching mess we've been through after Adelman is in my opinion the biggest reason behind 16-65.

The draft will be nice, we're guaranteed to get a top 4 player and I'm sure Petrie will make a good choice. But we'll also be one of the youngest teams in the league next year, if not the youngest, and unless we find a coach who can develop this talent and start building a cohesive team, it'll all go to waste.
