Look at National Press Coverage of IThomas

#1
For all you Isaiah doubters out there, and there are a lot of them, it might be useful to review some of the national coverage of his assestion into the Kings' starting lineup. It is rare for the last player in the draft to even make an NBA team. This is the era of point guards in some ways. Many teams missed the boat on IT and that is news worthy story.

Even if you had provided links you have to be kidding if you think I'm going to beleive the "national press" has a better feel for our team than we do. As you did not however...

Obviously he is a feel good faddish story like a mini-Lin. "National press" will eat that up. Even if they never watched a single Sacto game they would eat it up. Nature of the beast.

May I suggest you try "Googling" Isaiah Thomas, Sacto Kings? You can refer to the person who posts a thread as him, but it is a lot more polite to address that person directly. You may remain in the dark about IT if you wish, it is your choice.

It is customary to provide links on this forum.

First of all, I doubt that anyone knows how good IT is more than the fans here. The national press is so informed, that last night on the telecast of the rising stars game, one of the announcers stated that Brandon Knight was a teammate of Cousins at Kentucky. He was close, but missed it by a year. But what the hell, just throw anything you want out there. Secondly, if your a Kings fan, why preytell are you being so condesending with your attitude.

I think IT has been given plenty of kudo's on this fourm. I personally haven't seen many, if any posts that are negative about him. Jimmer has suffered a lot more abuse than IT. So I'm not sure what your point is, and what you have to base it on. Your right, not many last picks in the draft make an NBA team, but it does happen. The list of undrafted players making an NBA team is a long one, so we're not talking about a miracle here. I stated at the time of the draft, that getting Thomas with the last pick in the draft was a steal. He's always been an overacheiver, and most 5'9" players have to be. Thats not a knock on him, its a compliment. I also said that he reminded me of Spud Webb quite a bit. In size, and it attitude and confidence.

As for this being the era of point guards. That has more to do with the lack of very good big men than it does with the talent of current guards. What I thought was newsworthy, were the comments of Barkley, Shaq, and Webb after the game last night. All three were commenting on how good Cousins can be in the future, and all three seemed interesting in helping him on his journey. Barkley even stated that in his opinon, the best future player in the game last night, was Cousins, and that he could be the best center in the NBA in the near future. Shaq said he had a talk with Cousins, and told him he expected 28 and 10 out of him every night, and gave him that as a goal. Barkley stated that he thought Cousins was capable of more than that.

And in closing, Bynum can go to hell, and I'll drive him. The next time Cousins abuses him in a game, someone remind him that Cousins plays for the Kings, and he understands what carpetbaggers are.

LOL. I remember last year when Shaq shunned Cousins when he tried to go and talk to him.

Bajaden,

I like your observations. It was very heartening to hear the comments about Cousins. He is the one all-star on the team and will only get better. Big men like him are increasingly difficult to find. Smart seems to have solid repore with him and I hope it continues.

Sarcasm by some other is a dangerous thing on a forum. It adds nothing to the discussion.

Sarcasm should be banned although I know that's impossible. Use the emoticons if you are being sarcastic.

Comments on Cousins are off topic but has anyone ever given careful thought as to why there are so few great big men now. We have the world's population to draw from now and there are less great big men now than 20-30 years ago? Makes no sense. Have the 7 footers taken up curling? I think the answer may lie more in what 7 footers are doing on the court and not so much that there aren't that many. Dirk is the perfect example. Europeans are a good example. They seem to be taught more to shoot than have post moves.

In any case, saying that there aren't as many great big men now is an indirect slap at Cousins and I will bet all the money I have left, about $12.49, that he goes down in history rated with the best. It's not his fault that the other big men want to be jump shooters.

Sarcasm may be annoying at times, but i would'nt call it dangerous, especially not on the internet... that's just an odd thing to say.

I dont think anybody here is doubting IT, we have all witnessed what he has turned into, and we could'nt be happier, a steal in the draft, the point guard we have been in need of, and leadership that we were lacking, all in one package.

I cant wait to see him with a few seasons under his belt.
