Lets find the positives!

G-League
Been a rough 1st week of the season. Lets talk about the good things we have seen so far. For me it has been the play of Marcus Thornton 20 ppg, over 40 % from 3 and over 2 steals a game. Very nice start to the season for him. One thing I really like is I have not seen his demeanor change. No matter how bad things are going he just keeps balling.

Also the play of Chuck Hayes has been good as well. His D has been as advertised and his rebounding even better. He is a great leader by example.

To a lesser degree I would say Jimmer's play has been a positive s far. He has struggled a bit but it is obvious he is going to be a player.

We managed to beat the Lakers and Hornets, two playoff calibre teams and we played pretty well vs the Bulls, lost because of a lack of FTM.

Our defense has improved, it still has a long, loooong way to go, but it's improving(babysteps).

JT has been solid as always, I wish he'd get more minutes. Chuck has been a great acquisition so far, really helps our team. And John Salmons has done a decent job so far, I don't know why everybody is hating him and giving him F's, but in my opinion he has been better than most of the other players so far.

Calling the hornets playoff caliber is a stretch.

Yeah. Hornets are by no means playoff caliber. Especially how we faced them that night. CP is gone, and they had no Eric Gordon.

That was a "must win, or things are really bad" game.

They are one win away from playing .500 ball. That's about where their record should be. Give it a little time. The Westphal system can work. It worked against the Lakers; it worked against NO. The players just need to learn how to run it better. It is the youngest team in the league, after all.

The negatives:

Youngest team in the league
Tyreke has no consistent outside shot
Greene is a bust
Cousins is a walking uncertainty
Hayes is short
Thornton forces it sometimes
No point guard to speak of
Not enough vets with character who can play the game and bring the team together.

The pros:

Overall, this team has the physicallity to be a good defensive team
Hayes can defend
Thornton can shoot
Good rebounding ability
Jimmer shows a glimmer of being able to have 2x assist/to ratio at some point in the future
Salmons isn't overdribbling terribly
Cousins came into camp in shape
Hickson can play

positive: Kings finally started to make Free throws in NO Game at one point of the game showed 94% I thing ending was around 89% for the Game. Both Guards were on fire, 3pt shots were dropping, Garcia sighting!! I think we had more fast break points than the other team. Two biggest complaints prior two games (Free throws and Transition defense) both much better in NO game, Rebounding last game fell off due to Cuz not playing, but we are still rebounding ok overall. The players seemed to use the Big Cuz fiasco to sit down together and try and work thru the problems of team work , effort etc

Lets see, my wife who has been sick for a week is feeling a little better. My check came in and now I'm restocked with Cervesa. VF21 is posting again. So now I know she's alive.. College basketball is in full swing, and my doctor says I'll live to see march Maddness. And no, there's nothing wrong with me. But I'll sue the bastard if he's wrong.. Hmmm! There must be something else? Oh yeah, I ordered Michael Connelly's new book. Harry Bosch and I get to solve another crime.. Its all good! And Happy New Year to all...
