=LarryLegend='s thoughts on the 2009 draft

in the 2009 draft??? I think this years draft we will be tenth.

next year i think will be one of the ruffest year's for a kings fan. alot of losses. with no bigman, and no artest(maybe) salmons and garcia our 2 best defenders....i could see kings in top five pick range in 2009.

They say he's great... but let's wait a little before we worry about the '09 draft. We still don't know if Geoff is going to finish blowing up the team over the next couple of days, or what he will do this summer. It would be very premature to try to guess our draft position next year when we have no idea who will be on the team.

We do know that next year we will have a worse record. Hopefully Ron won't be a King by then, as well. Rubio has a good shot at going number 1 in the draft. He's an amazing pass first point guard. I'd do almost anything to get him. He's been tearing Europe up since he was a kid. I believe it was the under 16 world championships in which he had a quadrouple double, in the final! He's simply amazing.

There is this high school freshman I have been watching. His name is Jermaine Martin. He's supposed to be the next big thing. Perhaps in 2014?

With Artest gone, and Salmons no longer signed the Kings should look at this kid. Actually according to hoopshype in 2014 we won't have any players signed. That's good because we will have about 70 million in cap space to go after free agents to compliment Martin.

I see his games when possible in the ACB league. He plays por DKV Joventut (from the bench) with the best SG right now in Europe: Rudy Fernandez.

Rubio is really a very good player, he won't be a bust for sure: scorer, passer, good defense (leader in steals), good speed and athleticism, nice ballhanding...

Nice. ;)

wow, draft talk makes no sense to you?? it is where 60 people get added to a team. teams pick them.

I'll try to put this as nicely as I can.

It's not that "draft talk" makes no sense. It's your continual flooding of the board with random draft thoughts that make little to no sense. That's why the comment was made for you to "think first" then post...

I think I'm going to end up doing the same thing I've done elsewhere. I'm just going to combine all your random "draft pick" thoughts into one thread. That way, you can continue to post your stuff and the people who want to read it will have one thread to go to and people who don't want to read it won't have to wade through tons of it to get to the other stuff.

:)

Wow, how is this random, to look at our teams future? you can do what you want with the thread. I dont understand trying to look on the bright side of Kings basketball random.

I think that with the number of trade options you post, you give the impression that they aren't thought out, that they are random. After awhile it gets difficult to take them seriously although you may have a very good reason for posting them.

I don't mind fanaticizing about trades but one a day is just too much for my brain to maintain any sense of interest or excitement.

I have a difficult enough time thinking about the team we have without constantly being invited into thinking about a team we might have. My brain shuts down when more than one trade partner is involved.

Then again, I have the option not to read them. Mods have to read them.

Whatever. I'm trying to be civil here and explain why so many people get aggravated with your posts. You are NOT the only person who thinks about the Kings future. You are, however, just about the only one who has started over 130 threads involving trade and possible future acquisitions. And you've repeatedly ignored the requests to PLEASE at least put some thought into those trade proposals and give people a reason to want to discuss them with you.

Take offense if you like, but I'm actually trying to find a way to make this work for everyone with the least amount of conflict.

This is your official 2009 draft thread.

No offense taken, 130 seems embelished, but whatever. i do think about my posts. i guess people freak out about what jersey number a guy wears is a thread that seems alot more thought was put into it than a trade. that is a very important topic. we dont want to see players wear 100 because we have used all double digit numbers.

Even though I don't see a name beside who LarryLegend plans to draft in the 2009 draft, but I do believe that we will have a top 7 pick possibly.
I doubt that there are any notable free agents that would come to Sac this offseason, and I will be f$%^#$ pissed off if Petrie signs another dudd with our MLE.
Bibby is gone, and if Artest is gone as well, can Brad Miller really keep up his play this season?
I would rather watch the youngsters develop and hopefully package Artest with KT for expirings if we can't get Artest re-signed.
Brad Miller can be moved in the offseason with Douby for expirings + 1st.
And hopefully get SAR to retire!

Very wishful thinking, but we won't be in the playoffs in the near future.
I am a proud supporter of the word 'tank' :D
Having said that, it makes it really easy on my to like this team whether we lose or win :D
