Truthfully, I think the Lakers like his talent a lot, genuinely. He is talented and can play both spots. However, I think the Lakers realize that he is prime trade bait, considering that they have Fisher and Farmar, who is looking solid. Critt has as much or more talent than Farmar if you ask most people. By the way, the Kings could have drafted Farmar and chose Douby instead. Maybe they would rather have Crittenton. That is possible.

Living in LA, I think the interest in Critt is genuine. There's something to be said about the best kept secrets in the league, and don't forget Gerald Wallace was once one of them for us. If the Lakers play their cards right, it's Critt they should be grooming as backup SG and getting rid of Vujacic by season's end. I charted Critt in this year's draft and thought he was one of the more superior players in the draft, and was ultimately surprised he fell to their laps.

Wow. If you ask me, this deal looks great for the Kings. We don't want Thomas and his contract, we're worried about Artest's potential behavior, and Miller, though a decent player, isn't really pulling his weight down low and is overpaid. Here we get out of about $30M in future salary (and another $8M on top of that if Artest doesn't opt out), get a replacement SF/PF in Odom for two years, get a developing Crittenton (and maybe the wind's north-northwest, but I like Crittenton better than Farmar) AND a draft pick.

Arguing over '08 vs. '09 picks and Farmar vs. Crittenton is silly. This deal would be like when the Grizz offered us Bibby for J-Will - it would take a great poker face just for Petrie to say that the front office needed to talk it over before making a decision.

Potential Kings lineup:
Brown/Hawes/Williams
Odom/Moore
Garcia/Salmons
Martin/Douby
Bibby/Udrih/Crittenton
(with 'Reef and Watkins on the IL)

This would allow us to focus on rebuilding. Brown's gone after the season, we assume we're going forward with Crittenton, Martin and Hawes, try to find some legit young talent at the PF/SF with three draft picks in two years (or obviously if we fall into somebody like Derrick Rose we can dangle Javaris), and when Odom and Bibby come off the books we'd have some serious cash to throw around.

I'm in 100% on this deal.

There is no evidence that Ron will leave Sacramento. One is that he needs three years with a team to establish his Bird rights. There is plenty of evidence that Kobe wants to leave LA. As long as we are dealing in fantasy, why not come up with a trade that moves Kobe to Sacto? If you can't do it, why not?

When you come up with the answer to "why not" you will have the answer to why I wouldn't want to give up Artest.

Kobe demanded a trade out of frustration. And yes, after the loss to the Nets, the Lakers are reeling. I really don't think he was 100% serious about getting traded. He just had to vent, and he ranted to the media. Personally, I thought it was out of poor taste and judgment. At this stage of the game, I do feel that Kobe has realized that being with the Lakers is his best shot. And I'm not talking about signing with the Spurs for the MLE and riding Duncan's coattail which he can easily do. If he does that, I think he would tarnish his legacy... and would invalidate all the championships he'd win if he played for the Spurs for the MLE. Kobe needs to win with the Lakers. This year, they actually have a dark horse type of team.

The last thing Kobe would want to do is go to Sacto... they are not ready to win even with him.

You guys are tired of soft play...I wouldn't wish Lamar even on Sac. Last night, he stood there with his arms up while every Jazz performed a layup drill. On one play, Deron must've taken 2 full seconds on a continuation layup and Odom didn't even bother to contest the layup even though a foul had already been called. You don't want him, not even if you're fed up w/ Artest's issues.

If I'm MK, I'm not willing to trade Crittenton yet, lest it's a can't refuse offer. I like to see what we got before dealing 1st rounders, even if the 1st rounder turns out to be a Kareem Rush type. I shirley don't get the logic of taking KT's salary while also giving up a 1st rounder. That trade proposal needs a'fixin.

Why? I didn't say they were equals, did I? Your answer seems to indicate you wouldn't trade Kobe to us because it isn't in our interest.

Let us fantasize and say he's in our interest. Kobe and Bynum for Artest, Cisco, and Miller sounds good to me. It helps solidify our middle where we are weak, it trades young building blocks, and we would put up with having Kobe while our young guys are maturing.

That trade proposal is one-sided and the Lakers will never approve it. Putting up with Kobe? The Kings would be lucky to have his leadership, the kind of leadership he is displaying this year which has stimulated the team chemistry. Great deal for the Kings... non-sense to the Lakers.

I'd do that deal. Odom is a lot more moveable than Artest or Thomas. He certainly wouldn't be a part of our future, so he's going to be a temporary fixture, at best. And his deal is up after next season, right?

Miller's trade stock has taken a dramatic turn upward, and who knows how long he'll be playing at this level. The time to trade him is now.

That having been said, I don't think the Lakers would do this deal. It's essentially Miller + bad attitude + bad contract in exchange for Odom + Kwame + young talent + future 1st rounder. That doesn't match up.

I think it would have to be Odom + Kwame + 2008 1st rounder for Miller + Artest + future 1st rounder. That makes them better immediately, gives them defense+passing/shooting big man that Phil has craved for years, and gives us more flexibility in the cap, sooner rather than later. We'll throw Mikki Moore in that deal, too.

The only way a deal with the Lakers could get better would be if Bynum/Farmar or both were included.

Kwame!! Hmmmmm. Hard to know which Kwame one gets on any night much less in any quarter. And those hands and ball handling non-skills.

Players coming OUT of the triangle don't bring major skill sets for more traditional and run-run type of offenses (IMHO).

Lakers #1 in 2008. Likely low lottery to 15. Hard to know what that means. I'd rather have Miami's or New Yorks #1 but they have nothing to offer as part of this kind of trade.

I think they've got a sense of him behind the scenes because they scouted him and see him in practice. Tex Winter mentioned his skills and bright future. When Winter does that, it's solid basis for how the org perceives a player. Straight shooter. A lot of my dummy co-fans only see slick maneuvers out of him (which automatically makes Farmar cannon fodder for them), but I see a rookie point who has not yet embarrassed himself in choppy/totally unpredictable minutes (even when playing 2 next to Farmar).

Crittenton may be an unknown in his rookie season but in his 3rd year, you'll remember saying he was an unknown when he shows what he can do in the court. He's a rookie, and there aren't many impact rookies anymore.
