Pepsi Center booked for Game 4?

RealGM said:
The Pepsi Center in Denver is double-booked for May 25th. World Wrestling Entertainment says it is booked at the arena for an episode of Monday Night Raw, the same night the Nuggets are slated to host the Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals.
WWE spokesman Robert Zimmerman says the organization secured the Pepsi Center last Aug. 15 and has already sold more than 10,000 tickets for the event. He says the organization expects a sellout, with tickets ranging from $20 to $70.
"Even though the Denver Nuggets had a strong team this year and were projected to make the playoffs, obviously Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke did not have enough faith in his own team to hold the May 25th date for a potential playoff game," WWE chairman Vince McMahon said in a statement.

i cant believe it

the WWE took nuggets home court literally

now that the WWE is involved..(stern asking for WWE plot tips from vince) the more i see conspiracy.. then again i dont want guys in suits dragging me out and i disappear.

so what happens actually if the WWE wont yield? do they play some where else?

It will be just like a normal match day with the Lakers and the Nuggets. Then in the first quarter, Melo jumps into the crowd to save a loose ball and "accidentally" knock down someone in the crowd. Then this guy will stand up and clothesline Melo. He'll take off his baseball cap and reveal himself,

*Jim Ross steals Kevin Harlan's mic and screams*
"OH MY GOD! IT'S JOHN CENA!"

:p

As far as how they resolve the scheduling conflict, my best guess would be that the game would be played during the day - it is a national holiday - with the WWE match going as scheduled that night.

Having seen what goes into setting up an arena for a WWE event, I would consider that logistically improbable.

Well, they're going to have to do something. It's not like there are multiple venues available for a playoff game in Denver. I do wonder, however, if the University of Colorado has an arena that could accomodate the WWE event...

Why not play the game on a different day? That would be too easy...
Seriously, this is just the NBA flexing their muscle. Playoffs schedules are tweaked without batting an eye for this type of thing, maybe the NHL is willing to bend over for the NBA but I doubt Vince is.

Hopefully this turns out to be part of a story line like with Jericho and Mickey Rourke, with Stern being called out for a match against Vince McMahon only to be layed out by Dennis Rodman to add a twist to the plot.

LA played the Seattle games in 1980 at the Univ of Washington, I don't know why, though. I have those games, they're pretty interesting with the college arena backdrop. Otoh, probably would never happen today.

Lakers and Clipps had to play games at UNLV during the LA Riots, that was prob the last alt venue for a playoff game. That is a Laker market tho, I'd rather they play at the U of Colo if it comes down to that, would never hear the end of it from the conspiracists.

I actually had tickets to those playoffs! Didn't end up going though...
My friend that I was going with had no clue what was going on..."turn on the TV", I said.

Gm 3 happened on 4/29, the beginning of it. By the end of that game, they were giving directions away from the effected areas on the Tron.

Settled

World Wrestling Entertainment says it is moving its Monday night event to Los Angeles because of a conflict with the Pepsi Center in Denver.

The Nuggets are scheduled to host the Lakers on Monday in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals, but WWE had previously booked the arena for an episode of Monday Night Raw.
WWE chairman Vince McMahon said Staples Center called and offered use of its building and that his organization will return to Denver for an event at the Coliseum on Aug. 7.
McMahon criticized Kroenke Sports, which owns the Nuggets and Pepsi Center, for not being more helpful when the conflict arose over the weekend

Ok, did anyone else notice who stepped up to host the event? Yep, Staples. I bet I know who the WWE is rooting for now during the WCF ...

Staples calling up the WWE and offering their building is definitely a dig towards Kroenke Sports and the Denver Nuggets, IMO.

Not a big deal, really. The Lakers don't even own Staples Center. I mean, I know what you're getting at, but it's not any big conspiracy.

Haha, yeah I know it's not a conspiracy. I just think it's funny that Staples swooped in to be the WWE's hero.

McMahon added the Monday show would include a 5-on-5 match pitting "Lakers" against "Nuggets" and his character would likely confront a character of Stan Kroenke, who owns Kroenke Enterprises, in the ring.

^ Lakers are takin this one.
