Kobe thread (split from Andre and merged)

Not to inject unnecessary reality, but Kobe has come back from crippling injury for the miracle finish before...

I think he thrives on it. And he does it well.

Another 15 bucks down the drain... Thanks lebron

You got Kobe with the hot hand at home against the one player in the league right now who is probably looked upon as the biggest challenge to Kobe personally and you're blaming LeBron for your loss?

I doubt even LeBron would have bet against Kobe in those circumstances (if LeBron James bet on games, which I am not in any way implying he actually does...)

Is there something to be surprised here, all the fans got a close game aided by the refs and the lakers hold serve at home court. Stern will always have the "refs are also humans" tag to cover up all his business decisions.

Look out for the lakers to go deep into the playoffs this year. Stern cant have the knicks and the lakers out of the playoff picture for too long.

Think they're going to beat the Spurs, eh?

ONEZERO shouldn't bet on Lakers games. Bias can bite your wallet.

Gargy, answer me this... Why did he shy away from the ball after the dunk???

Shot clock no longer on.

Unique notion though: that he's being selfish when he doesn't decide to shoot a garbage bucket.

Plus the streak most tv heads have been talking about was 4 consecutive 45 point games. He failed to get his 5th so your insane theory is flawed.
Why haven't the TV heads been talking about LeBrons streak of 30 pts 7 rbs 5 asts???? That hasn't been done for even longer.

Violet Palmer had a great game last night. She kept LA in the game and Kobe did the rest

Well the refs kept the game close, there were stupid calls both sides to keep it even till the end. However anti laker sentiments could filter out the bad calls on the other side.

I bet it's because that's more of a nebulous streak. Various players have done the 7 and 5 thing for a stretch, I'm certain, but w/o the 30 pts. Plus, various players have done better than that in different combinations. Magic almost assuredly did 20, 10, and 7 a few times in a row, for example.

No part of the 45 pts over 4 games has been done since Wilt. Not even by Jordan. Nor Iverson.

I don't know what's sadder:

1. You'd make a comment like that.
2. You might actually believe it.

If you are honestly that cynical about the NBA, you really need to find another sport to follow. Might I suggest Indoor Lacrosse? CSN carried it last night and I was enthralled. Talk about a combination of sports. Mallets with netting; helmets with full face guards; short pants; tennis balls. What's not to like?

Only problem is it's about as exciting as watching paint dry...Of course, the outdoor version might be much, much better.

ONEZERO will continue to bet on laker games... Being bias will enhance his wallet come february/march time...

So you think ref bias is enough to get the 8th seeded .500 Lakers past the champion Spurs in a 7 gamer. Please forgive, but that's not very realistic.

Lakers may not be the 8th seed come playoffs. They might be the pacific champs with atleast a 3rd seed which will mean that they dont meet the spurs till the WCF.

I am sure you have seen a few 8th seeds get to the finals and I think the last team to do that was the Knicks.

Interesting quote, was that your answer to everyone here in 2002 when they claimed about the refs giving the game to the lakers in game 6.

Basketball as a game is interesting, college basketball and world championships are fun to watch, the nba players are amazing and they are athletically gifted and most of them are hard workers. Thats why I watch the game, but at the same time it doesnt mean that I shouldnt call nba as a business having watched this for a while.

The Knicks are the one and only team to do it, and in a strike shortened season. It's rare for an 8th seed to ever make it out of the first round, the Kings team of that same year were one of the last to even make it close. (again, strike-shortened year)

Oh, how I love a clever retort.

Game 5 = horrible game if you're a Lakers fan.
Game 6 = horrible game if you're a Kings fan.
Game 7 = Taking the reigning champion Lakers to O/T in game 7 is nothing to sneeze at if you're a Kings fan.

2002WCF = One of the best conference finals I've ever seen. And that 7-game series more than made all the "years of the sucking" worth enduring.

Game 7 = being the first team in 20 years to win a game 7 on the road is nothing to sneeze at either. ;) That was one hell of a series.

Those were the days, my friend.
We thought they'd never end...

Those were the days.
