Kobe: They're all laker fans anyway(in Sac)

Is it just me, or does it seem like this forum is making much ado about nothing? There WAS a whole bunch of Lakers fans. They WERE noticable. Kobe just went ahead and pointed it out.

What did Kobe do? He sure got a lot of cheers. Who's fault is that? Is it his? Or is it Sacramento's fault that all these supposed die hard kings fans let Lakers fans drown them out?

Are we so pathetic that we have to latch onto a 2 second bit made by Kobe and try to tear him/Lakers down? This isn't a big deal. Let's worry about the Kings and not try to pretend there is a rivalry there. A one sided rivalry just makes the one initiating it look irrelevant.

I couldn't agree more. If your a kings fan and are pissed we have had a terrible year, and no one shows up at the games, fine, thats your business. But Kobe just pointed out what everyone else saw last night, unless you are blind, deaf, or in serious denial.

Kobe didn't say "There were more Laker fans at Arco than Kings fans!"... that's pointing out the obvious...what he did say was "They are all Laker fans anyways". He basically just called Sacramento a Laker city... thats offensive (in the basketball world) and its crap. I hope we are playoff bound before he retires so we can kick his teams butt once and for all.

THe league made a big mistake by giving him the MVP last year.. he just got more arrogant.... i was laughing my *** off when posey shut him down in the finals and when his team got beat down so badly

i was browsing in the net and boy did the Kobe = Jordan conversations stop, it should have stopped when his all stacked team of 2004 got a beat down from the pistons.

kobe is good cause.. he has gasol odom and that other guy. and the zen master. remember when he was all alone and with rudy T? the guy couldnt even carry his team to the playoffs that year.

For those who complain that Kings fans do not attend games because they have played so poorly, don't forget those of us who simply do not have the money to attend games. If there is anyone out there who has money to burn, throw a little at the Kings and give me a season ticket. I would be at every game.

As for Kobe...........whatever! He is free to think whatever he wants. He would be wise not to ask my opinion of him, however.


Bricklayer has a point. Let the jerk ignite our fanbase. It will only help in the long run.

I still don't care. I don't think it is offensive, and the lakers fans were louder than the kings fans last night. It was such a meaningless comment, and I don't see why so many people are that upset. I'm sure he would love the fact that Sac fans are getting so riled up over a comment I could care less about.

When the team improves, and we get more passionate fans back in the stands, this type of stuff won't be said. But its been talked about before this season- this team is a joke to the rest of the league right now. Unfortunately, thats what it takes to get the number 1 pick. And do you really expect Kobe to go out of his way to make kings fans feel good about themselves?

However, seems he was stating the obvious after being asked by a reporter to contrast the old atmosphere in Arco to the new (and believe me I'm no fan of Kobe.) Yes, it's a kick to the stomach, and arrogant as usual, but what do you expect him to say? What would you have expected C-Webb to say back in the day if we played a game at staples with a large Kings fanbase in attendance?

That is not at all what makes me angry or what this thread is about. What Kobe said is that "they're all Lakers' fans up there." He was saying all people in the Sacramento region are actually Laker fans.

VF21, I always respect your opinion, but I will agree to disagree with you on this one. A.Tsai asked Kobe to compare the old arco atmosphere to the current one. I don't think there is much of a caomparison to make. We have hit rockbottom, but look like we will start to turn things around next year.

I think kobe was half-joking when he said that. But in general, I dont really care what kobe has to say. I don't think it was that offensive, just an honest assessment from his point of view, and an added jab at kings fans. When I saw it live I didn't think it was a big deal, and I still don't. Just my opinion...

Exactly, Webb was classy. Even despite the rivalry, our guys were always classy during it. It was LA who would make the first comment or the first move.

I don't think that is entirely true. Judging by jersey sales, he's loved by more than media. The media can create celebrity based on nothing (ala Paris Hilton). I'm sure the media love Kobe, because he sells. A lot of people want to read, see and hear Kobe. (Just like Paris. )

Of course kobe has some supporters. But a lot of it is really hype. Such as overrating kobe as the best clutch player out there while Lebron and the rest aren't clutch. But by the real hard stats, kobe only hits 25% of his game winners while Lebron hits 34% or so.

That does happen. Maybe not as much with the Giants (National League and everything) but every Yankees or Red Sox game in Oakland is flooded with their fans, and it's infuriating. It's bad enough that ESPN pretends those are the only two teams that matter.

When I was growing up, more people wore Jordan or Malone or Shaq jerseys than Kings jerseys. Those are the stars. The Kings didn't have any stars. A few people had Richmond jerseys, but not many. Kobe probably has the best selling jersey in the world. It's not surprising all those "fans" come out of the woodwork when they are practically guaranteed a win and another chance to gloat. What Kobe is doing is the same thing Phil Jackson does. He knows this, and he says it anyway because he knows it will pee us off. It's just a lame attempt to try to infuriate people. Better to just ignore them.

There are many analogies to this, but by letting Kobe make you mad, you are just playing into his hand.

What do all writers/movie makers/athletes/stars/authors/journalists worry about? Is it hate? No. It is indifference. Hate, rumors, angst (shown here by some of you) generate revenue, interest, and a perpetuity for Kobe. Shaq and Phil do this crap better than anyone in the league, and it's probably safe to say Kobe got a few tricks from those two.
