Happy New Year !!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
On January 2nd 2001 Kings beat Suns 121-117 in a very memorable overtime game to improve to 21-8 for the season. Kings managed to survive Webber's ejection in the first quarter, 53 points from Tony Delk and an overtime mostly due to the fact that Pedja and Vlade had career games on their own. It was a great game to watch. Vlade lead Kings with 34/12/6/1/2, Pedja added 33/9/2, JWill helped with 13/3/1. Bench was solid lead by JB'a 10/2/1, Bobby has 8/1/4.
DELK-------50min 20-27 FG---13-15 FT-----6rb--------53pts
Tony Delk had the game of his life but Vlade Divac and Peja Stojakovic made sure their former teammate left Arco Arena with a loss. Divac scored a career-high 34 points and Stojakovic matched a career-best with 33 as the Sacramento Kings overcame the early loss of Chris Webber and an NBA season-high 53 points by Delk in a thrilling 121-117 overtime victory over the Phoenix Suns. The night began inauspiciously for the Kings, who were coming off Saturday's 107-104 overtime loss to Philadelphia. Webber, the team's leading scorer and rebounder, was ejected in the first quarter after jawing with officials.
"It was a big game for us," Stojakovic said. "It was a tough situation for us when Webber was ejected. We lost our leader and our best player. At that moment, we just had to step it up as a team. Me, Jason (Williams) and Vlade had to carry the team, take more shots and be more aggressive on offense and that's what we did."
"I was just feeling good," Delk said. "Early on I made a few shots and I kind of felt like I was in a zone and it just carried over every quarter. Just being aggressive, something I haven't been in every game. It was just one of those nights. I was in a groove and guys were getting me the ball."
"It was tough on us when they came back in the third quarter," Divac said. "Everybody thought we were going to drop one. But we came back and really played tough defense even though Tony scored 50 on us. He was very difficult to guard."
-------------------------------------------------------------------
After abusing the pathetic Warriors - Kings improved to 13-15 winning 3-4 games to end this very long and not so succesfull year. It will also secure the chance for the Kings to start a new year with a winning streak since Knicks will be in town. Situation in the standings improved and Kings are only a game behind the 8th spot which may or may not be a good thing depending on what You would want for this tem to happen. Regardless - this win just felt good and it was a great game to watch if You are a Kings fan. Since Warriors have no fans - no harm no foul.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow, just wow. Warriors were due and I was sure that we would win this game but I did not expect this at all. A win that makes You sleep well at night which I can certainly need because of all the drinking that is ahead of me tomorrow. Kings started slow playing 3 on 5 but then Muss finally got lucky and substituted right (blind chicken found a corn as far as I am concerned). One we were 5 on 5 - things turned ugly for the Warriors. At one point - I almost felt sorry for them but - I just couldn't. It was way too much fun. Career game by Douby as a bonus - poetry - pure poetry.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Four home games coming up to start the January and we can win them all. Knicks, Lakers, Blazers and Cavs are all beatable. We could be 17-15 before a brutal 5 out of 6 games on the road. January could be tough if we split those first 4 games at home because after that 9/12 are on the road and it could get treally ugly, really quick. Maybe a trade or two will come in between. If we are to make POs - we have to survive January.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wasn't it nice to see the "kids" play well at the same time. There is potential and talent which builds hope for future. If You can do it once - You can do it again and then more often. It takes time which we might be wasting by "quick fixing" - but there is promise. And I don't care that we player Warriors who are 3-12 on the road. If I have to watch Kings lose and struggle - I want to see them doing it by developing those young kids. I can live with that. I can get excited even with a loss if it has a purpose. We need a purpose here - badly.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are my wishes and hopes for the Kings in 2007
New Arena (at least a plan)
more tall players
more wins
beating Lakers 4 time
good draft choice
health
chemistry
Individually
Mike - better health and good luck in the summer
Kevin - more career highs
Brad - a 1 inch vertical leap and a new hairband
SAR - a starting job
Ron - a trade that will benifit us befoe the falls apart (time is running out)
KT - to finally become the flexible piece that we all hoped he would be.
Salmons - more consistancy and another triple double
Cisco - more Decembers the 30th
Douby - more opponents like the Warriors
Corliss - all the best and thanks for the class
Muss - new job as an analyst for TV
rest - I don't care
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Doesn't it feel like Ron is already gone ? Looks like there will not be any "marriage counceling" and we will go from the honeymoon to a divorce fairly quickly. Hopefully, it won't get messy but even if it does - it won't destroy our champinship dreams since we don't have any. The way he has been acting and playing - it is "deriliction of duty" at best or even borderline desertion. Come one GP - the sooner the better.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Watching the Warriors slaughter - my only regret was that this game didn't happen nex Thursday. Can You imagine ? This site would go insane and server would probably colapse. Things like this whole season, the record, the problems, the chemisty would become irrelevant. ARCO would explode. Only 5 more days till we play Lakers. The game is on national TV. Any win would be a reason to celebrate. We can beat them. We might not but we might and I have to believe that we will. Even if it takes 5 overtimes and Kobe scores 100 before fouling out. I don't care if I don't get to sleep all night. I just want that W.

AWARD TIME
TDM went to Ike Diogu which did not matter whatsoever. Barnes was close to getting one back to back but didn't shoot well enough for it.
LW-VC award went to Dunleavy. Thanks for 5-19 Mike and do it again sometomes plaase. Memorable mention - Salmons
JHA award went to Artest for the second straigt game. It was a clean DNP-RD (Ron's decision).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Knicks are next and they still suck. I hope that they will a tasty "entre" for a main meal that we are about to have on Thursday. We will have to play well again and hopefully Mike will be ok. Maybe we can "rob" Isaiah while he is in town. I am sure - he can use a couple 6'9 players. Maybe even Ron decides to do something useful out there. Knicks are almost as bad as we are on the road so we should be fine. Beating Knicks will get us hyped up for the Thursday's game where we potentially could break even at 15-15.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - get well soon
Kevin - nice to see You back
SAR - solid
Brad - get a rebound man
Ron - DNP - RD
------------------------------------------------------------------------
KT - what agreat performance
Cisco - finally
Corliss - nice
Douby - hell yeah !
Salmons - come on now !
rest - mateen
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - someone please explain the man what "garbage time" means before something bad happenes
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Knicks are one of the few team that I did not watch this season. Why would I ? I assume that Curry will have a field day. TDM might go to Lee. LW-VC is reserved for Starbury/Francis and JHA might go to Ron again. When all is said and done - Kings prevail.
