KJ Live Update coming up

Kevin Johnson gets my vote! Great news my bank and so many others stepped up. I was hoping for a bigger announcement though. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I don't think the NBA would have bothered verifying these pledges if the plan wasn't to keep the Kings in Sacramento if things check out. I'm betting that there's going to be some pressure put on the Maloofs now to announce that they've "decided" to remain in Sacramento next season.

I agree, I don't want to jump the gun but this pretty much seems like a sealed deal for a 1 year extension. Anaheim is not even in the news anymore everything has been focused on Sacramento.

KJ just tweeted.

KJ_MayorJohnson Kevin Johnson
The NBA said to Sac 'show me the money.' and we did! Making a down payment on our future as a permanent home to professional basketball."

Those are the same kind of negative nellies that infest the Bee's comment section. I try not to read them because that kind of small minded negative whining really pisses me off. All they do is throw out red herrings that have nothing to do with the Kings or an arena and you can't reason with them. It's like they actually think that building an arena means you have to let the rest of Sacramento's needs be neglected.

There's probably less than 10,000 people that take on that mindset vs. the 1.9 mil that feel the other way. They just happen to have computer access and lots of time. And perhaps a good supply of alcohol.

Oh what the internet has done for the unheard...

Yea, I almost created an account at KCRA, just so I could respond to those idiots....
They just don't get the impact it can have on Sacramento if the Kings do leave...

News flash to those people, there are a lot of jobs out there, they just dont pay as much as people were making in previous jobs, so they dont want them, but these people really expect to make the same money they were making when the economy was booming, and i knew a few of these kind of people personally.

Im proud of KJ, hes showed us a lot and hes fighting for the future of this city. No basketball team=WORSE ECONOMY! But people dont see that.

DO IT! There are too many uniformed extremists on those type of boards that need to hear that people do care and they aren't the only ones on the planet.

Hey, if they want to have their fun spending time commenting on the bottom of news article, sounds good to me. Someone let me know when they actually form any kind of group or rally.

I don't see how that helps. I'd bet more of the general public are exposed to the garbage posts on the Bee and such than actually searching for the facts or come here for info.

Fargo supporters still banging the NIMBY drum...

Yah I did too.. Some of the people are seriously retarded. They want to live in Little House on the Prarie times or something.

I think I may sign up at all the local News sites and start battling with these people too. I hope more of us do, that would make it easier.

Been saying that for the long time and got shut down some people think its a waste of time. I dont, we need to be heard and let these ignorant people know that this is good for sac and also influence others why this is important.

I used to say it was a waste of time but I don't anymore. Some people are swayed by the comments on there. If this whole thing comes down to some vote (i hope not) and I didn't try at least a little I'd feel a bit guilty. I just posted on the kcra link from above.

Not so long ago there was a decent KingsFans contingent doing battle on the Bee website, but we (or at least I) got distracted when the focus of the fight changed a bit. If there's a season in Sacramento next year, I'm sure I'll be back over there.

Yep. Too much going on right now personally and unlike previously, I don't think the effort there is all that important at the moment. Before KJ (and the HereWe movements and everything else recently) took over and things looked bleak, I spent a LOT of time working the Bee comments as I saw that as one of the few outlets to get the message out. Now it is out of the hands of us and in the NBA's hands. I urge you all to keep it up but I just don't have the time right now to do that. Hopefully soon things will calm down.

I tried for a while, but I was bothered when comments started to be about me personally, especially when things were said that were untrue. I also felt like it just kept those trolls (moslty) posting, long past the time they might've quit. Following commenters in other news source places shows me the level of discussion is usually at the lowest common denominator and seems to be dominated by angry, bitter people, who apparantly haven't anything better to spend all day on.

I'll have to see. I may do hit and run posts so I don't get dragged into things so much. I just hate that they never admit that you've proven them factually wrong. They just ignore it and start in on some other tack. Or wait for the next article to post the same lies and/or distortions. It's not good for my mental health.

I think the groups we have now can have a bigger effect by doing things that are more public. What we have now that we didn't before is the support of some powerful and moneyed folks in the region. Now we just need to focus on the positives and keep momentum going. Be visible as much as possible.

why bother with trolls

They are trolls for a reason. Even when they know they are wrong, they won't post it, which in turn makes you waste even more time.

Let them rot in their own soul. Worry about yourself and you'll be a lot better off.
