KingsFans.com un-official "WNBA Ten at 10" - #4

Now, this one I know!

I think, more than anyone else, Yo reminds me of Chris Webber. And that's a good thing! She has the heart, she has the dedication and she has the skills. AND, unlike Webber, she has a championship to put a fitting end, should she retire as she has said, to her career.

I admire truly gifted people who don't just coast along. IMHO Yo is one of those people. She works hard at her craft; she not only pushes herself to perform at her best level, she brings her teammates along with her.

I have the utmost respect for Yolanda Griffith. And it's apparent that the rest of the WNBA does, too. I may not be able to define class and style, but I know it when I see it - and Yo has both.

Great selection, Slim. And your write-up was wonderful. It educated me, the casual WNBA fan, and made me appreciate Yo even more.

#4.... Fair enough. My own homerism thinks should be higher though:p

Good job. Surprised you didnt mention one of those jobs Yo had in Florida was as a repowoman.

Yolanda Griffith is, without a doubt, my favorite all-time female basketball player. I am proud to say that I was the first fan to greet her in 1999 when she came to Sacramento. I told her that she would win the all elusive MVP title. She not only did that, but as Slim mentioned, she was also selected as Newcomer of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. If you look up the word warrior in the dictionary you will find Yo's picture.

Nice write-up, Mr. Slim. It fits my fave player well. I expected nothing less.

How on earth did you get to be the first fan to meet her..??? (I really gotta hang out with y'all more...)

I asked for her autograph at the airport when they came back from that goofy, heartbreaking one game playoff against LA. I was scared to death to ask her because she looked like the last thing she wanted to do was be around anybody. But she did sign for me. :)

I didn't include it because I decided that it wasn't relevant to her basketball career.

I am, by the way, going to be a day late on #3; I've been writing all day today, and I don't feel like doing any more writing tonight, so it'll keep.

EDIT - And VF, technically I didn't select her: these ladies were voted on by a panel, as I mentioned in the Prelude thread.
