Or roster spots ...................I just thought it was odd when he picked up his option in the first place. Could be he's looking for greener pastures could also be the office is trying to free up a couple spare million to make a lopsided trade work
At this point, trust must be earned.you gotta trust the coaching staff completely
Indeed. But there is no choice here. It bothers me because it feels so reactionary, but for better or worse its going to be nearly 100% a new structure next year apparently, new philosophy, completely new lockerroom too. Its almost impossible to make any sort of principled prediction, and talentwise its not going to be overwhelmingly impressive. So all you can do is wait and see and trust that there is a vision for all this. Because its not just the big pieces now. We've also gone out of our way now to dump and jettison the little guys around the edges like Butler or Curry who could have provided low level continuity. Instead its a complete takeover/doover, at least if we go forward with Rudy/Ben/Kosta trades. At this point, trust must be earned.
So maybe Gay is staying afterall, Kings just got Barnes to be a vet presence, that Boogie trusts, and Kings accomodated Caron's desire to look for playing time around the league, while some roster spots/PT are still out there.
I think it's pretty simple. Caron opted in, hoping that a new staff and system would mean a bigger role for him and since he's not likely to get more than the vet minimum anywhere, it meant he didn't have to pack up and move.
Then after the Kings signed a few wings, he saw the number crunch and was let go and/or asked to be let go so he could catch on elsewhere.
The Kings don't gain any caproom or save any money by waiving him (I don't think) and there are no roster size constraints until the deadline in the preseason.
