I wish someone had moneyball'd this summer league team. If not for my viewing pleasure, then at least as a proof of concept.

Was thinking the same exact thing.
Trying now to use him in a nhgih pick and pop with McCallum, but McCallum has the balhandling skills and so is just taking it to the rack out of that.

I wouldn't call anyone names, but thinking that a guy who shot the lights out in college is a poor shooter just because he has 2 bad summer league games doesn't make much sense at all. Even great shooters in the NBA can put together a string of poor shooting games.

People are just being overly impatient about this and it is absurd.

Not that I disagree with you, but it's not absurd to think a good college shooter can suddenly become a poor player/shooter in the league. It's a little quick and jumping the gun, but the judgment may not necessarily be wrong. See: Quincy Douby.

Well, thing is, a LOT of great college shooters come into the NBA and fail miserably. Whole other level.

But that doesn't explain all the missed wide open shots. Those should go no matter where you are.

Nonetheless McCallum has obviously been the much more impressive rookie so far.

You think that someone needs to explain a poor shooting performance in summer league? Steph Curry shot 32% from the field in the summer league.

The summer league doesn't mean anything because it is 5 games of almost pick up quality basketball where the top tier players have nothing at stake. Great players have played poorly in it and poor players have played greatly.

McLemore could be a bust, but you need to at least give him a season or two before you make those kinds of declarations. Certainly more than two summer league games.

And just as a cherry, not seeing the defense either. Looks like he has a high center of gravity and doesn't take up much space.

Just nothing to build hope around right now. But McCallum is an NBA player.

Oh I understand that. People are right that there are plenty of pure shooters who bust in the league. But it is just ridiculous to be "concerned" after two summer league games.

I think with a pass-first PG in Vasquez, McLemore will get better simply by getting into the offense. With McCallum running the offense, he doesn't get the ball that often which could damage his confidence.

Ben looks pretty lost right now...no excuses, but Bazemore is an excellent defender, so good learning experience.

Yeah, with defenses focusing more on Cuz, he'll definitely get more space to put up shots. Not to mention he won't be the number one option to pass to, so that can take pressure off of him.

Not to mention the lack of a true facilitator, which an off-the-ball guy like McLemore depends on.
