i absolutely HATE the clipper announcers. his voice and catch phrases are HORRIBLE.

just hope the rotations in the regular season are a little better than we have seen in preseason. Tyreke should never be on the bench for a whole quarter. I personally dont care if thornton plays 30 mins or not. Those mins belong to tyreke. Now if late in games they want to use a tyreke/thornton backcourt im ok with that, but Evans should never go to the bench just for thornton to get his minutes. And The offense needs to run through Cousins when he is on the floor. But when he goes out is when we need to really unleash Tyreke. Much the same way the lakers did when they had shaq and kobe. Not to compare Evans/cousins to shaq/kobe but i think we need to play the same way.

I will take one thing away from this preseason that i haven't seen mentioned. 2nd game vs. the Lakers last 4 min tie game. All Lakers starters in. The best group of individual talent we will see all year. I was expecting a choke and just give it away as we did the last few years. Instead we absolutley took it to them and won by 7 pts. THAT right there is a huge difference not only from last year but the last 5 years.

I've always liked the Warriors announcers, have nothing against the Lakers announcers honestly, The Heat announcers are unbiased, Living in so cal ive have a love hate relationship of the clippers announcers, they make me laugh which is good, but their homerism is overboard at times. Announcers i hate are the Blazers announcers, Celtics, Utah and Denver. Chicago guys are pretty funny too.
As for the game, we saw a lot of positives. This team will be succesfull if they can get out on the break. The half court offense is pretty bad unless Cousins or Tyreke are having their way. IT showed why he is the starter, the guy is pesky and relentless on defense and is our best playmaker, his pull up J is starting to remind me of Beno(greatest pullup jumper i can remember seeing). If DMC stays out of foul trouble he is a legit 30 pt 12 reb threat on any given night. DMC is the key to this team. Also Tyreke looks so much better when he has his confidence. Kind of reminds me of Peja, when Peja was confident he looked like a superstar, when he wasn't he looked pedestrian out there. Hopefully Tyreke can channel his confidence and keep it, he doesn't have to be "the man" anymore, just needs to be the second catalyst behind DMC.

I don't think it was confidence, rather having the ball. He's better with the ball than without. And he seems to have slowed down a little and his decision making improved.

Your right, he builds his confidence when he's able to have the ball and attack, the most telling for me was in the third quarter when the ball swung to him and he just launched a 3 without hesitation and it went in. On a night where he isn't attacking he would hesitate to take that shot. Tyreke is a special talent when he wants to be, just needs to put it all together.
We basically killed them in transition. Got lots of easy baskets from their turnovers. Halfcourt offense kinda went like this: 1st quarter - usual Cuz going 1 on 1 stuff with jumpers, he picks up some fouls goes out. Evans starts attacking and drawing fouls, setting up JT and Hayes for a dunk and layup. IT playing off of Tyreke and hitting a lot of midrange jumpers. IT and Evans go out with about a minute left for Brooks and MT. JJ ends the quarter on a running 3.
Second - disgusting, terrible. Cisco forcing a lot and getting nothing. Thornton scored a little on 1 on 1 plays. Brooks was useless.
Third - We were giving Evans the ball and letting him beat his man to the rim. Continued getting to the line and drew a foul on Dwight (his 5th) early on. Most of the scoring came in transition with IT/Evans/JT running really well and getting layups or IT knocking down stop and pops. After a timeout we came back and were clearly giving Cuz the ball a lot more, and he started heating up from outside draining multiple outside shots.
Fourth - Similar to second, but not as bad. Cuz stayed in with the bench for a while and continued the scoring.
It wasn't a perfect halfcourt offense, but we were putting Evans in a good position to succeed. He was finding guys off the pick and roll as well, and the Lakers got called for two 3 second violations sagging off of Tyreke. Overall Tyreke handled the ball a lot more than IT, was able to be aggressive, set guys up and IT played very well off of him, just hitting open shots and running the break.

one thing I loved about the defense tonight was the rotations, which was one thing the Kings have been struggling with for ages. maybe it was also a byproduct of the Lakers not yet being quite familiar with each other, but it seemed as though the help defense was much, much better than it has been. if this should sustain it would be a massive boon to the team, since we don't really have any shotblocking and this is the one way there is to compensate for it. pressuring and getting all those steals is nice, too, of course, but rather gimmicky and unlikely to succeed in the long run, but if penetrating guards can be funnelled into the big guys and a guy like JJ can cover their kickouts well, then the team will be a lot better on d this year.
other than that, I hope that Outlaw will never again play the four ever and the Kings somehow get one more big man, preferably one that knows how to finish under the basket (my only -minor- complaint with the frontline tonight). Brooks and MT on the court at the same time was not pretty at all and some way must be found to incorporate them into a working offense. unless, of course, IT comes off the bench. which he shouldn't, especially after that game.
also, the best broadcast teams are clearly Minny, surprisingly the Lakers, Miami, and Brooklyn (although that's a bit unfair, seeing as those guy do national TV). worst by a mile are Portland, whom I hate with a passion.

i think we should all somewhat layoff the criticisms on Coach Smart..I think he's the best coach we've had since Coach Adelman..
Whoah there. Arguably, your initial statement doesn't really mean much, since, well, the coaches since Adelman haven't been anything to write home about.
While I think Smart's earned his fair share of criticism, he does have a chance to win the fans over by pretty much not doing what he did last year. Establish a sensible rotation, emphasize good half-court defense, and smart offense from transition to half-court. I think if we see that, we'll be in his corner.
If last night was an anomaly, well, the pitchforks are already sharpened.
Maybe, just maybe, Smart came to the realization that the ball has to move through Evans for this team to hum. It disrupts team defense in a major way, especially if IT & Co. are hitting the open looks. (Personally I wanted Brooks to start, but I have come to realize that IT makes more sense next to Evans.) The rotations were a little tighter (although still strange), and I know that was partly because Robinson was out, but this should be a max 10 players on the court in a given night sort of look, which I know he can do. Hell, we've all given pretty reasonable rotations, and we're not the ones getting paid.
My take - I guess I'll wait and see how things look in the regular season. I may have been premature in my assessment of Smart, or the year might show that my hunch was right. Last night was definitely a change, from lineup to offensive structure.

On Sports Center they showed the Laker highlights for the night...and by the way the Kings won they said. Also, they showed Howard's stats and compared this game to the previous Lakers/Kings game. All the stats for Howard were down significantly. The Kings did their homework to remedy what had gone on earlier.

so after watching all 3 Kings-LA games this preseason, i will say that the Laker announcers are very good. they call the game very unbiased when it comes to fouls and other whistles, and they give the Kings a lot of credit. they really like Thornton and Cousins

those, btw, are the two criteria most important in assessing broadcasters, with giving credit being the most important one. they can talk up their own team all they want, they can even see a few whistles going their way that shouldn't, but when announcers start bagging on the other team it just pisses me off, especially since the Kings have been such an easy target these last few years (one reason I strongly dislike Austin Carr and the Cavs broadcasters, despite their being rather harmless, usually. when they played the Kings he kept bringing up misinformed stuff about Cuz and the team in general and it annoyed the hell out of me).
