[Game] Kings v. Clippers 11/01/13 Game Thread

I don't know, it kind of does. Since I hate football, I usually actually avoid ESPN, unless there's a basketball game on. The only reason I had it on is because I forgot to switch it off after the end of SAS/LAL.
We barely got any coverage in the glory years. It's gonna take a while before the major media starts to give us coverage. But hey, if we keep playing with this intensity, it'll be sooner than later.

What were they saying

This is how I'll feel once the disappointment wears off. Lots to like. Cousins is legit. Malone is legit. IT is our new BJax. I've been watching the game on a Clippers feed and the announcers are gushing about Cousins AND Malone. When has anyone given Cuz or a Kings coach credit?

People are starting to pay attention. The league pass free trial has allowed a lot of people to catch these first two Kings games and see how loud Arco is and the intensity of our players. My favorite comment from browsing the game thread on Reddit was something along the lines of... "The Kings fans know it's only the third quarter right?" in response to all the noise. People are getting excited :)

The great thing is that I don't think this coach will allow this team drop their head after this loss. I think we have a winner in Malone, and we will look better when we have a roster of his players, rather than one he inherited from Petrie. The Clipper announcers called him the mastermind of the Warriors, and that Jackson was pretty much just the guy that motivated the players, Chris Paul also has a lot of respect for Malone.

Ya ive noticed that too. here are some quotes i copied from random people (Not Kings fans) in a general NBA thread on a non basketball forum i am on that just happens to have a NBA thread

This first one is my favorite------

This new Kings team is awesome, I'm gonna catch as many of their games as I can this year. They play hard, they play smart, and Cousins is an unstoppable beast.

If I decide to do the league pass package my 5 teams will definitely be:

Kings
Pistons
Warriors
Pelicans
Cavs

chris paul acting like something fell from the sky

these clips are hilarious man

Isaiah Thomas

So does lebron. He is given credit for making lebron believe in defense and becoming the defender he is now. Malone is the truth he is Theibadu 2.0

The Kings are actually the perfect team to get the 5 team league pass with, fun team to watch and they are never on national tv, so you get good value. Me and my brother split the price this year and we picked my Kings, his Nuggets, Warriors, Pelicans and T-Wolves. Those teams, plus all the Laker/Clipper games we get plus national games is plenty of basketball for me.

So what you're saying is that CP3 is coming to the Kings next season?

I really hate excuses, but a couple of those flops really affected the momentum.

Was bad on both sides. That flagrant on Barnes was head scratching.
Probably one of those reputation calls. That plus he took a good swipe at JT's head. With the recent backlash in sports against brain trauma, that call made some sort of sense.

It was a good game. Clippers are a popular pick to go to NBA final. I'm annoyed but sick of blaming the refs so I won't go there anymore. I felt like the Kings exchanged punches with the Clips and at times looked like the better team. I don't mind this loss at all.

Yup. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I'm sick of blaming it on the refs and all sorts of other factors. Point is, if our team is good enough they will win their fair share of games. It doesn't make sense for us to want players to display good body language, not get down on themselves, and then have ourselves play the victim every time things don't go our way. That's not a winning attitude, and as Vivek said, it's time to turn this franchise back into a winning one!

Mclemore has been pretty bad. He's a rookie and this is common, though. I'm sure they won't give up on him as quickly as Jimmer because he's taller and can dunk really good. I'm sure he'll continue to get a chance to develop on the actual court. It's about potential at this point, because he is a far cry from being as good as Jimmer.

Are you serious? Jimmer has had 3 seasons to prove he sucks. McLemore in his 2nd NBA game and you already declared he sucks.

Klay Thompson couldn't make a bucket to save his life his first couple months in the NBA. Bradley Beal as well.

I don't know if patience is the right word. More like... reasonable?

Is there a more dislikable duo than Chris Paul and Blake? What a couple of whiney, flopping bi***es.

To be honest, I used to be the biggest CP3 fan when he was new to the league. But now I have a deep dislike for him. It's not good for the game. Blake Griffin wasn't too much of a flopper in his rookie year. Once he teamed up with Cp3, the both of them became professional floppers. Awful to watch. Just awful.

Man, I'm loving the effort and hustle. This team will be able to compete with everyone at home. Play-offs are still far away for this team, but if the team keeps battling like they did the first two games, then I'm a happy fan.

IMO we are a small forward away from 7th-8th seed. If we can make a trade for a decent starting SF and Landry comes back strong, i think we could do it this year. We'll see what happens though.

Yep, he's worse than Jimmer at everything besides shooting, finishing at the rim, defense, rebounding, setting screens, getting open, slashing, and rotating on D.

I think if they had a pure shooting contest Jimmer would probably come out tops. Say what you will about overall play but Jimmer actually shot very well last season. Now in all the other categories ....

We were decent at home last season. I think 20-21. Where we need the biggest improvement is on our 8-33 road record

While I like your enthusiasm for wins, our ownder

This current ownership and management is plenty smart enough to not make any moves to just give us a chance to be an 8th seed this year. Any move they make, will be strategic enough to give us a great to chance to advance in the playoffs for years to come.

We're all exicited about an increase in quality play and some more wins, but it just doesn't make sense. They already made it crystal clear that this year's priority is not about number of wins.

Playing starters like Vasquez and Moute, who don't look to take a lot of shots, so that Cousins has many more chances to refine his ever increasing game, makes a lot of sense..and I do think that's the page they're on

Yeah...good points and reminders. I also feel that f w had better SF play, we are a playoff team but patience is the key. Even if we end up drafting in the 7-10 range, I feel confidant that the organization will make quality picks.....I think we have 2nd round picks....I can see us getting another quality guy like Ray there also. And I believe, that once FAs see what we have going on that we will land a quality player.

It's frustrating to see us compete this hard and then watch Salmons play poorly. He has a good game here and there but dang. I'd be happy to see us trade Jimmer for a draft pick and then sign a D League player at SF who has some athleticism. Probably could get the same production as Salmons

I think Vivek and Malone know any personnel move they make needs to be aimed at helping this team become a good team in the future, not just to patch a hole and make the 8th seed. Too many teams in the NBA crave that 8th seed so bad that they end up with treadmill type players and handcuffing contracts. Chris Mullin is guilty of that a few times when he was a GM. But Vivek dreams big. I think the biggest issue with the Kings right now is slowly bringing in bigger players and slowly get rid of undersized players. You want size at every position.
