You can judge him now. I don't blame people it's there prerogative. I honestly don't expect Karl to have a winning record to end the year. But we will have another off season to judge Pete. He just has to have a strong one. I think he would agree with that.

I'm quite the optimist, and I may be out of line by predicting this, but I would go as far as to say that George Karl will make an IMMEDIATE impact on this team. We will see a different Sacramento Kings team after the all-star break.

On a side note, we may see a different Kings team in a literal sense of the word. Rumor has it that our front office is as aggressive as we're accustomed to and that Nik Stauskas is being shopped hard. Reggie Jackson is supposed to be in our sights.

Not sure we have the assets or how we could use reggie unless collison is involved

The article gave no clue as to how we would obtain Jackson. I doubt if a straight up trade for Nik would work. It suggested Collison and Jackson would be starters and Ben would be put on the bench.

Doesn't make sense to me. I just posted it as it might have been part of the rumor GQ_Gabriel posted. Perhaps this is part of the aggressive work PDA was involved in using Nik Stauskas and related to an attempt to get Reggie. I never said it made sense.

Sounds logical to me. Add another shot hungry low percentage non 3 point shooter to a team trying to find shots for Cousins, Gay, Ben Mac, and Collison already.

It is an odd thing. Like IT, Jackson's ideal spot would be as 6th man/gunner. Like IT, his ego won't allow him to realize he's a shot happy tweener guard without a position. Early in the season there was even talk he was looking for somebody to give him a max deal, so...

Th flip side is we do need a third guard, and we need a 6th man. But is Jackson even willing to be that guy? And where do we get our shooting from if he is?

Oh no please not another hero baller, who dribbles into his own shot most of the time. Can we please realize that the NBA is about offensive sets and solid unselfish team players.
We need willing defenders, willing passers and more shooting. We don't need a gunner of the bench, when we have a coach hopefully worth his salt.

IMO we would ideally have a Manu/Iguodala type as a 6th man. Someone who can score but who's not just a gunner and is able and willing to create for others. Problem is these guys don't exactly grow on trees... Omri is in the right mold, but a bit too much of a poor man's version of what we need.

Maybe try to develop Staukas? He was advertised as a scorer with some playmaking instincts and has the necessary unselfish mindset.
I won't trade him for a guy like Jackson.
How many successful bench units today are centered around a balldominant, scoring PG or Combo Guard? Just curious.
The Raptors with Williams and.....?

if he's asking for max $$$, we're in trouble. the FO again delusional. we might end up w/ more talent bleeding when he walks, trade exception and maybe if gerbil is lucky.. we'll get a 2nd rd pick thrown in for pity purposes.

Earlier I was for dealing Stauskas, because, with a winning team (which we were), we didn't have time to be patient. Now I wonder if Karl is just what he needs in order to develop into a consistent nba player.

We do have the need for the player that Stauskas could potentially become. Do we have the patience? Will he show enough to reach his potential sooner rather than later?

In any case, I doubt Vivek would ok moving him, and I doubt OKC would want a project right now. Picks and a vet would be my guess. We can't offer a pick, and I don't know what vet they would want. Landry, maybe?

As Spike said before me, the issue is whether we can afford to wait for Stauskas to develop, because quite frankly he's been awful. He hasn't shown any flashes of brilliance the entire season, no stretch of hot shooting/scoring (Jimmer), no great athleticism (Ben, TRob) etc. I don't doubt that he'll improve at least a little bit, but I do think it's realistic to say that we shouldn't be expecting him to be our 6th man leading the charge from the bench as a scorer AND playmaker next season and even the season after.

Unless you expect him to be the starter and pay him a max deal, you're gonna end up with a cluster f in the end. Why do it when you just let IT walk? Same guy...

I would much rather prefer to have Isaiah Thomas come off of the bench for us as opposed to acquiring Reggie Jackson as a starter. If we're looking to throw money at someone, at least give a shot at Goran Dragic, though Sacramento would be an unlikely destination.

I was going to mention that Reggie is basically a poor man's IT, so why the **** would PDA want to go after him....

...Buuuuuut after reading through all the other posts, it looks like we're all on the same page here.

I respectfully disagree. Stauskas has shown flashes of a decent basketball IQ, a solid understanding of Pick&Rolls, good effort on defense, good ball handling and a very quick release on his jumpshot. Sure it's up in the air, if Stauskas will improve enough to be our 6th man, but you just don't give up on a rookie with a good work ethic this early. There are many ways to find a place in the NBA - athleticism helps, but there are many players, who are not prime time athletes, that are successful.
I think Stauskas will be fine. Most Rookies struggle and we did a poor job so far, to get him going.

I think I may be the only one here.. I think Reggie Jackson could be someone who benefits by playing without KD and Westbrook. I look at Harden.

I think he'd be a much better and younger PG than Collison. He has a nice untapped potential. However, his ego is way too high. Even playing with 2 of the best NBA players, he acts like he's the best on that team when he has the ball in his hands. I wouldn't mind trading for him though. I think if he can help improve our PG position, we should trade for him.

That's interesting. I see Jackson more as another Collison, not an IT. I don't see Jackson as scaring anybody on offense.

On another note,

There have been discussions circulating around a possible trade between the Kings and the Charlotte Hornets. Sacramento would send Jason Thompson in exchange for Marvin Williams. Sessions is likely to be included if the deal goes down.

What a horrible deal for us. Mavin Willams??? We are already low on size and we get smaller.

Post a link when you post these rumours.

If you're just posting on behalf of your "sources", please don't bother at all.

The front office is pushing hard in search of a stretch four, although Williams has not shot the ball well this season, they like his shooting ability and his versatility is intriguing.

I'd much rather get Gerald Henderson, if we're dealing with them. That's only if we don't go after Afflalo
