Greetings fellow Kings fans! First, a bit of an apology for the lack of a PBP on Friday. A very busy week finally caught up to me on Friday evening and I simply wasn't up to the task...

The main thing I'm looking for in these pre-season games is a sense of purpose from both the players and Coach Theus. And, thus far, I haven't been disappointed. I didn't expect instant miracles and there are tons of things the team needs to improve, but I personally am very happy with what I've seen so far.

Tonight's PBP, and pretty much everything here at Kingsfans.com, is brought to you because of the generosity and dedication of our board owner. If you would like to help defray a bit of the cost of helping to keep Kingsfans.com up and running as the #1 Sacramento Kings Internet Community, please consider becoming a Contributing Member. Along with the satisfaction of knowing you're doing your bit to help keep us around, CMs are entitled to larger avatars, nifty dark purple user names, customized user titles and other goodies that may come along during the year. Remember, though, you are under no obligation whatsoever. We're just glad you're here as part of our KF family.

It's gotten cold up here in the forest. A strong wind last night was a good indication that winter is indeed on the way. We already had our first snow - although it didn't stay around too long - and our fire season is thankfully over after a couple of good, drenching rains.

Last year, I seemed to simply get away from wearing my purple slippers during games, and I think we all know now that was the wrong thing to do. So, this year, I return to what worked so well in the past. I'll be wearing a new pair of purple slippers AND I'm going to be drinking Gevalia French Vanilla coffee during the game. Some superstitions are worth returning to ...

GO KINGS!!!

What forest, VF21?

I'm curious. I'm a retired forest ecologist, so I know the forests very, very well and love them dearly, as well as nearly anything outdoors (gnats, stinging jellyfish, widow-makers, trash, etc, excepted).

Snow already? Ya must be up at or past the 5,000-ft level, then.

Yea, fire season is out, finally. The "ten-hour" fuels do dry out pretty quickly, however, but there's no risk of the longer-drying fuels drying out...until next year.

Regarding Garcia...I've seen him shoot extremely well, but that's only when he did not hesitate with his shot; it's when he's thinking too much when he gets into trouble, so he'd do well to follow Coach T's advice and just go for it when the opportunity is there.

I'm at 4,000 ft. in the middle of Plumas National Forest. We got about three inches of snow early but, of course, it was gone within a day.

Pryz for two.

10-8 Portland

I am NOT going to change my score because I know they're wrong.

Kings turnover; Jacks fouled and heading to the line after the time out and commercial.

I hope they correct the score during the time out. If they don't, I'll report what Grant says, but keep in mind KT got the rebound on the second Pryz FT, so he couldn't have made both of them.

Transient snow

I'm at 4,000 ft. in the middle of Plumas National Forest. We got about three inches of snow early but, of course, it was gone within a day.

Ah, Plumas Nat. Good forest. 4,000 ft up there is an excellent Montane forest. Awesome conifers, dominated by the Pseudotsuga menziesii and the Calocedrus decurrens, though most of it is 3rd and 4th-generation growth; however, the new forests are positive carbon sinks, which helps a little bit with the global warming situation (the warming is NOT anthropocentric-caused, btw).

I hope that this winter season brings some fairly frequent snows. Last year had way too little for me; the year before in the spring was awesome with frequent snows in March/April. I live also at the 4,000-ft level, but I'm up past Nevada City in the Tahoe Nat Forest.

Earlier in the year I had the pleasure of finding bear scat in my yard and had fun scaring the shiat out of my fresh-from-the-city neighbors with my showing them the big, huge cherry-pit-filled bear scat.

Down in Nevada City/Grass Valley, the snow is so transient, compared to just up the hill, especially in the last 25 years of gradual warming of the winters. I like the heavier snows up the hill, yet it's still transient, which suits me just fine, as it keep the landscape fresh and ever-changing. My favorite times to do walk-abouts are during the heaviest snowstorms and I've never gotten lost. Freshly-fallen snow is so magical and, after nearly 50 years of enjoying the beauty of freshly-fallen snow, I've yet to get tired of the scenery.

I'm looking forward to a great Kings season.

14.4 seconds left. Don't know which team will have the ball.

Oh God. The Kings have hired a woman to be the new "courtside reporter." Her credentials include being a cheerleader at Duke... I personally detest the idea of courtside reporters at basketball games because, more often than not, they add absolutely nothing to the game itself and actually take away from the game on the court with their "interviews."

Her name is Angela Tsai and I guess she's done some stuff for nba.tv... Must be a big letdown for her.

Blech...

Thanks. I know for sure Joel missed the one FT; so after the game I may go back and add everything again. I think they've juggled the numbers because they don't know where they messed up.
