The Lakers are stuck with Russ. I mean who is going to take that on? They can't ship picks until 2027. Russ isn't going to bring fans into an arena. That was their mistake and they are going to own it for a long time (Well two more years?)
You could have ended your post after the sixth word, and it would have been evergreen.Lakers fans have been absolutely obnoxious about getting Barnes over the last week or so
These are all legitimate questions but how in the world are they ever going to get started on building anything without making a move first? A team 15 games below .500 ain't gonna fix all of these things with one trade. Getting a greater young talent just doesn't feel like a loss to me, period. Sabonis is a solid playmayer and passer himself, btw. Idk .. i just don't see how keeping Haliburton was going to greatly improve the future if everyone claims our other assets are so scarce. So, we keep Tyrese and all the other guys people claim no one wants? What was that going to do?

The pick is essentially "dibs" on undrafted free agents. I was gonna comment how unusual it is for the team giving up the all star to be the one sending out a pick, but this is just embarrassing.
EDIT:
You dismiss his lack of rim protection rather easily as not a big issue … PJ Washington isn’t covering for that. Now I can see a scenario of say the Toronto route of getting guys like Pascal Siakham or Scottie Barnes but those guys don’t grow on trees. And even if they get those guys, goes back to shooting. They work in Toronto because Van Fleet and Gary Trent can shoot as well as anyone. Opposite of Fox & Mitchell. Mitchell can guard any guard in the league? I disagree
- so basically your answer is Sabonis is the playmaker on the team? Well good luck turning him into The Joker.
I just think it’s impossible to build enough shooting AND defense around Fox/Sabonis. Not even using hyperbole, like literally impossible I mean unless they sign 2 superstars. They have basically set themselves up where they have to have two ELITE shooters And defenders at the forward spot and even then I don’t see this team as anything more than a .500 team.
I mean no offense but you really believe the answer to the defensive question marks is having this lineup which you insinuated -
PG - Fox
SG - Mitchell
SF - xxx
PF - Washington
C - Sabonis
Honestly you can put Kevin Freakin Durant at the 3 spot and that team won’t be a contender. Would have no paint protection and teams would just pack the paint and focus on Durant. That’s a common theme. Literally need two more valuable players at the forwards spots in my opinion to compensate for lack of shooting / defense the core provide.
Let's say you're right, for the sake of discourse: do you think that "Kemba with defense" is the ideal complement to Fox?
Why'd you ask for someone to point out how it would work if you're so confident it's already destined to fail?
Also, it's pretty hilarious you ask for a detailed response and yours in return is just nonsense/cliches/hyperboles.
i have an idea. Hold onto haliburton, not tell fox that he’s not getting traded and put him out there. If a deal comes up, cool. If not, cool, you continue sucking and get a high draft pick. NOT SELLOUT FOR THE LAME A$$ PLAY-IN. Maybe for the first time ever, try to build a playoff team THE RIGHT WAY. Naaaah, just get rid of the kid that might have been the only exciting thing on this team for a guy who will walk in 2 years.
I know you're down and I'm not exactly planning the parade but c'mon. Monte has probably spent most of his tenure in Sac shopping Buddy no way he's touching Russ.Na, it’ll be us after Barnes/Holmes/Bagley get shipped!
Mitchell does play the D that Fox doesn't so in that respect he's complementary. The question for me is whether the Mitchell/Fox combination is going to produce enough assists, and that depends in part on the offensive design, which in turn goes to coaching. Also, is Mitchell a good enough outside shooter to complement Fox? It's something to watch going forward.
I don't understand why fans are operating under the assumption that this move signals "selling out for the play-in." It may result in that this season, but Domantas Sabonis is not a 32-year-old all-star on the backend of his prime, nor did the Kings have to sacrifice future draft capital in order to acquire him. Sabonis is 25. Fox is 24. It's clearly a step forward in attempting to build a long-term contender, and that rarely happens overnight.
Now, I have no problem entertaining arguments over the plausibility of actually constructing a contender around Sabonis/Fox. Personally, it strikes me as a longshot. But it's not everyday you snag a legitimate all-star with extraordinarily strong advanced impact statistics without having to give up more than a single long-term asset. It's not a desperation move for an over-the-hill talent at the expense of future flexibility in order to achieve a play-in berth.
Because Monte won’t be here next year if the Kings do not make the play in and the Kings end up with the tenth pick. This is a win now move.
We literally have no way of knowing this.Because Monte won’t be here next year if the Kings do not make the play in and the Kings end up with the tenth pick. This is a win now move.
Since we kind of both lost our Moody vs Bouknight better rookie season bet, want to charity bet this?
We literally have no way of knowing this.
What if he just saw Sabonis as a better asset overall than Tyrese and pulled the trigger while he still could?
What’s the bet? Because I already said they’re going to make the play in after getting Grant.

If the Kings miss the play-in this year, I win if Monte is still GM of the team by game 1 of next year
If the Kings miss the play-in this year, I lose if Monte is not the GM of the team by game 1 of next year.
the blue tick brigade on twitter all scrambling to get their group think hot take in on the "kangz."
We all love Hali but you'd think we'd just traded away prime MJ for kwame brown.
Trade deadline next year and it’s a deal.
So, Kings have to miss the play-in this year for the bet to play.
-If Monte is the GM after the trade deadline next year, I win,
-If Monte is not the GM after the trade deadline next year, You win.
Booked for $100 to charity of choice
Simply leaving the kings organization will do that to one’s career prospects.Sabonis ceased being an all-star level player the Kings traded for him. Meanwhile Tyrese went from "Better than Cole Anthony I guess" to "The next superstar"
Based on what? Haliburton has all of those skills but has he really shown us something that spectacular where we think we can truly build around him? I can't say that. Being a skilled shooter and passer is one thing, but, franchise cornerstone is another.
