Kings trade JT, Nik and Landry to Sixers (renamed)

Collison actually started many games for PO teams in 2 of 3 his last stops before coming to Sacramento. And third was for PO contender, who was just bare bone thin behind Dirk.
He did not start "many" Playoff games. Sophomore season he was the starting PG for Pacers and they got bounced in 5 first round. Next season they get George Hill he goes to bench, and puts up the exact same stats off the bench in less minutes. Didn't make playoffs in Dallas year. Goes to Clippers and produces same career stats once again...off the bench.

If you look at his stats he's been an 11 and 5 guy his entire career. Be it starting or off the bench. Sacto he averaged 16 becasue of minutes played.

All in all.....he should come off the bench. He's not a starter and would be a great asset off bench. Bobby Jackson-eque.

The salaries anticipating the new cap space is insane!!!

Middleton = 5 years, $70 mil... what?

Carroll, a decent player, but $15 mil per? wow!

Thats the market for everyone right now I guess.

That just goes to show you, under no circumstances do we give away Rudy Gay who is on a super bargain contract by these standards. We will absolutely not be able to find any SF nearly as good as Rudy for his salary.

We know that simply adding WCS is not going to turn our sorry 29 win team into a playoff team. So either we waste our last years with Boogie and watch him walk (or force his way out), or we try and build a team around him. Could things go south with Rondo? No doubt. But things will be much worse if Cousins leaves. We are talking complete rebuild again. I think you absolutely have to gamble to build a winner around Cousins.
If Rondo were the talent of years gone by, I could see at least considering his acquisition. But I see way more downside than upside. If Rondo doesn't work out, it's not like Salmons not working out or Sessions not working out - we're talking about a potential cancer not working out. This org is so F'd up right now. Can you imagine if we add Rondo antics on to Cousins antics on to Fegan antics and Vivek & Co. antics? It probably would make for a fantastic reality TV show - the ratings would be off the charts - but I'll pass on Rondo when it comes to building a basketball team. This organization keep digging a hole on their reputation deeper and deeper and deeper. If they had a Rondo-Cousins-Karl-Vlade-Vivek blowout, I can't even begin to imagine the adverse consequences.

I also believe that given the circumstances over the last month or so, this organization would be irresponsible if they weren't drafting a Plan B contingency plan for life without Cousins.

Our best case scenario in free agency:

Vivek sees how much money scrubs and role players are getting, decides owning a basketball team is too rich for his blood and sells his stake to a non crazy person.

Since the FA wings are disappearing from the market overnight, has anyone thought about the possibility of trading with Toronto for Terrence Ross? There's been a lot of buzz since the playoffs about the Raptors looking to trade him and giving DeMarre Carroll $15 million a year seems to back up that intention. They have cap space and they need shooting and frontcourt depth so maybe we could do a Stauskas/Thompson for Ross deal where they absorb the cap hit on Thompson and swap out Ross for a SG with elite 3pt potential to backup DeRozan?

Call me late to dinner, but these numbers are nuts and will undoubtedly translate into huge fan contribution. I know this deserves another thread and extremely taboo, but when do we as fans acknowledge the elephant in the room?

Brook Lopez, though a good player, has a long history of injuries. But the Nets were so quick to offer $20 mil/yr to him like they won a prize.

Anthony Davis, though one of the top players in the game, got $29 mil a year. $29 mil/yr on his first extension. That is some insane money.

While the cap will go up by around $30 million once the TV deals kick in, the max for a guy like AD when from about $16 mil to $29 mil. He alone took up $13 mil of the $30 mil cap increase.

With regular starter level players like Middleton getting $14 mil/yr when he normally would get about $6 mil, a lot of teams are going to regret a lot of these contracts that they are giving out this year and next.

Kings have about $10 million in cap space, and belief league-wide is that Rondo wants all of it. Still: Who is Sacramento bidding against?
:D They are bidding against Rondo. If they don't give him the entire $10 mill and he becomes a King he's going to be PO'd!

Report is that Rondo wants ALL our cap. $10 million.
I don't mind. Maybe they can make it $8-9M next season and team option next year for $11M or something like that.

Or maybe somehow we can do a S&T with Dallas and pay Rondo a little more money if we can jettison the Landry contract - and still have a few bucks left for Brewer.

How cheap do you all expect him to work realistically? He won't sign for embarrassing money.

Name another team that would be interested in him? If he's embarrassed to get 5-7mill a storm is coming when he plays under 30mpg.

Not a bad plan, but since Brewer doesn't add much in the shooting department, someone like Lou Williams or Lin might be a better fit than Stuckey.
Sign and trade Nik for Lou? We wouldn't have enough to get him and brewer.

He's not coveted by many teams in the league.

We have to pay a tax for being the Kings. The tax is worse because of all Vivek's blunders. I guess lets see what happens. I'm just so bored of getting middling talents for middling money. I'd rather overpay a little for quality, and I believe Rondo can be an outstanding player for us.

David Aldridge @daldridgetnt
Hmm. Now told there won't be any face to face meeting today between Kings & Rondo, & that they consider him one of "many" options at PG.

I agree with maybe looking a different direction if that's his asking price.
Really hope they are giving Joseph a fair shake. With the Spurs freeing up cap space without moving Mills, Joseph becomes more attainable. I think it'd be hard for them keep 3 PGs on sizeable contracts when they are trying to sign Aldridge and having Green's cap hold in place.

With Carroll being signed by Toronto, I think that also means Amir Johnson is not going to be retained. He's a guy that fits well next to Cousins.
